Chapter 360: Petits Fours

*Humor me, lass. Answer me questions and then go do whatever yeh do with that mon of yers. – Nessie*
The crowd left the garden area and made their way to the front room while Priscilla took more pictures of the couple and thruple.
“Did you know about this?” Karan asked the teen.
“Me?” she asked innocently as she looked at the screen on her digital phone.
“She’s not looking at us.” Cookie pointed out.
“I am looking at you.” Priscilla motioned to the little screen in front of her.
“Prissy.” Cookie said his nickname for her from when she little and she sighed.
“Yes, Tootie.” She replied looking up at him. “I was one of the few that knew. And yes, that’s why I had to ask you all those questions.”
“Come here, Prissy.” The large dark-skinned man moved away from his new brides and opened his arms to her. Setting the camera in the chair closest to her, she moved into his arms, and he wrapped her up in his arms, kissing her temple just as he had when she was little.
“I didn’t like lying to you.” Priscilla admitted.
“I’ll forgive you, as long as you promise never to lie to me about the big things.”
She nodded against his chest, wondering if he knew her secret.
“Now, my ladies insist that I ask you, my Prissy girl.” He tipped her face up towards him and brushed away the tears on her cheeks. “You were the first girl to steal my heart when you were learning to walk and knew I would give you cookies.”
She smiled and sniffled a little at the memories. Her first steps in the Shack had been towards the large black prospect that had a package of cookies. After that, the only thing that she called him Cookie, Tootie as her little voice had a hard time with the C sounds. Soon, the entire club was calling him Cookie.
Priscilla might not remember her first steps, but she did remember him always being there with cookies for her. Even now, he usually had cookies stashed away just for his Prissy girl.
“We’re having a girl.” Cookie said softly.
Priscilla squealed at the quiet announcement.
“You’re the first to know.”
Looking around him at Pagan, the teen asked, “Not even…?”
The chest that she was being held against rumbled with a deep chuckle. “Nope. You.”
“Ahhh, Tootie!” pressing up on her toes, she kissed his cheek.
“I want to name our baby girl after my first girl. But the ladies insist that I get your permission.”
“I’m going to have a little burnt cookie named after me?” Priscilla grinned at him.
“Yes,” he laughed. “You’re going to have a little burnt cookie named after you.”
“Yes!” Priscilla squealed at a volume and pitch that only teenage girls can reach as she squeezed his waist.
“You’re okay with me having a Little Prissy Girl?”
“Can I be there when she’s born?”
“That’s between you and her mommas.”
“Yes.” Gertie said from where she stood in Karan’s embrace. “There’s no way I could tell his Prissy no.”
“That is so exciting!” Shiloh said.
“You need to go make your announcement.” Gertie told her friend. “You know Trigg is wanting to know what that is that you gave Pagan.”
“Yeah, we should put him out of his misery." Pagan agreed and looked over at the teen. "You talk to Camille lately?”
“Yeah, she’ll be up for my graduation and then back at the fourth.” Priscilla moved away from Cookie and towards her camera. “Pagan, I want pictures of your silver stick thingy.”
Laughing, he pulled it out of his pocket and shook the silver Victorian style baby rattle. “You mean this?”
“Oh! My! God!” the teen exclaimed as she moved closer to the couple. “Is that…? Are you…?”
“I’m not sure what you’re asking.” Pagan grinned as Priscilla posed their hands and rattle just the way she wanted them. “But if you’re asking if we’re having a baby, then yes.”
“This is so awesome!” she declared snapping a few pictures and then rearranging them for more. “Okay, we need to go get pictures of you with your cakes.” Grinning at Karan and Gertie, Priscilla added, “Especially you two.”
“Us?” Gertie asked quietly.
“Would you hurry up?” Dutch asked from the doorway. “Dad is about to lose his shit if he doesn’t get cake.”
“We’re coming.” Cookie said as he placed an arm around each of his women.
The five newlyweds followed Dutch down the hall with Priscilla running ahead to get shots of them seeing the cakes for the first time.
Along with the black wedding cake with red poppies, there was also a pale blue cake with a cascade of chocolate chip cookies. Sitting on top of the blue cake were three cookie monster figurines, two had bridal veils and the center one had a leather cut.
“Nessie! It’s perfect!” Karan declared as Cookie kissed the top of her head and then Gertie.
“Now, yeh’ll hafta forgive me. I listened to some of me friends and some of yers to make the one for Miss Gertie.” Nessie grinned and motioned for her girls to bring out the third cake.
The two-tiered cake was covered in fine black filigree details and soft pink tea roses and candy skulls. It was topped with a small bouquet of the same tea roses surrounding three large black beauty roses.
The red-headed bride covered her mouth as a soft sob escaped her mouth.
“Now, like yeh asked for before, yer cookie cake is blue velvet with a chocolate ganache and layer of chocolate chip cookie dough.”
“Hell yeah.” Cookie declared.
“And yers,” Nessie smiled at Gertie, “is a strawberry cake with a cheesecake layer and fresh strawberry slices.”
“Where did you get strawberries?” Gertie asked as she rubbed her belly.
“Me garden.” Nessie grinned. “I’ll show it to yeh sometime.”
“Are we having cake yet?” Trigg demanded.
“Yeh, poor mon. Yeh don’t even know what else there is and yeh want all there is.”
“Nessie, if you baked it, it’s bound to be divine.” Trigg countered as his eyes bounced between the cakes.
“Zee?” Nessie called and the blue haired woman nodded, disappearing down the hall.
“Pagan, yeh have a raspberry almond cake with raspberry compote and yer buttercream icing.” Nessie pointed at the badly decorated round cake with way too many sprinkles and black icing on the edge.
“Did you girls do that?” Pagan asked his daughters and they grinned broadly and nodded.
“It’s beautiful, girls.” Shiloh told them as the four of them hugged each other.
“We didn’t get to do Cookie’s cake.” Alyssa told them.
“No, but Gavin and Garrett helped me with it.” Nessie said pointing at the lopsided chocolate and peanut butter cake.
“It looks great, boys.” Cookie told his nephews.
“Miss Rye helped us too.” Gavin declared as Zee came back into the room carrying a small box.
“Aye, she did.” Nessie took the box from the blue haired woman and handed it over to Trigg. “Petits fours. Or as yeh called them, tiny cakes, all just for yeh.”
“Hell yeah.” Trigg accepted the box and found himself a place to sit down with his cakes and the fork that Zee handed him.
“Before yeh cut the cakes, did either of yeh have something to say?”
“I don’t even ask how you know anymore.” Pagan admitted as he looked at his wife who nodded.
“Oh, wait.” Gertie said as she handed Shiloh two small boxes that she had tucked away in her dress.
“Girls, these are for you.” Shiloh said handing over the boxes, not even looking at the boxes.
Both girls quickly tore into the paper and Ashlyn was the first to remove her silver necklace.
“I think I have yours.” She said handing the necklace with *Big Sister* engraved on the heart to her older sister.
“No, I have the right one.” Alyssa replied holding out her own necklace.
The two girls looked at the necklaces with confusion written on both their faces. Slowly, Alyssa looked at her dad and then to Shiloh.
“Are you *pregnant*?” she blurted out to her new stepmother.
“I am.” Shiloh admitted and both girls hugged her.
Priscilla was busy snapping pictures of the Goode family and didn’t see the pink sash that Cookie pulled out of his pocket. With Karan’s help, they got the sash over Gertie and her growing belly.
“Prissy.” Cookie said as he guided Gertie to face the camera.
There were several excited sounds around them as everyone read the sash.
