Chapter 69: Suicide Shifter
*It’s the advantage of birth, I get what I want on a bike. – Cade*
“You should have heard her.” Athos was telling the men about the discussion during class. Porthos and Aramis added their comments here and there. Molly had only met her in passing, but his pretties had all met Evie. So far, they all sang her praises.
A little red Corvette pulled into the shop parking lot and pulled around to the back where they were all standing. It parked not far from the group and Evie stepped out. She smiled at her men and brother as she walked towards them.
“Are they running?” she asked stepping into the group and giving her brother a hug. “Chicken shit coastie.”
“Corps whore.” Law replied kissing her temple. He released her from his embrace and she stepped into Tank’s arms who gave her a light kiss. Ink did not even try to pull her to him, he simply moved closer and tipped her chin up for a kiss.
“Holy shit!” Aramis said at the same time that Porthos let out a low whistle.
“Yes, your bikes are running.” Chevy said. “They are sweet rides. How did you afford two Roscoe customs?”
“I’ve got good connections.” Evie said as she accepted the duffle bag from Law. “Brave enough to ride Cade's?” she reached up under her skirt and unhooked her thigh highs.
“No.” Law answered watching as she carefully removed the hosiery. “And not just no. Or even a hell no. We’re talking a fucking hell to fuck that damn shit no.”
Laughing as she pulled her jeans on under her A-line skirt, Evie teased her brother. “I can ride it.”
“I heard that there’s other things that you ride too.” He popped back as she shimmied her skirt down over her jeans.
Removing the garter belt, Evie grinned at her brother. “How’s Maleah?”
“That’s just cold.” He laughed.
“He’s lived with penguins, so he knows cold.” Tank added, watching his woman fold and put her clothes in the duffle bag.
“Exactly!” Law agreed as she pulled on socks and then her boots. “Glad I have someone on my side.”
“I didn’t say that.” Tank laughed as Evie zipped her boots on the side. “I think you’ve done this once or twice before.”
“Class A to BDUs is much easier than the other way around.” She admitted. “Burka was easy. Didn’t matter what I was wearing, pull that bitch on and we’re gone. Which is why I preferred it to the hijab. I can still put on a hijab in the dark.”
“Why would you wear a burka?” Absalom asked.
“Who said anything about a burka?” Evie asked him as she pulled off her navy-blue silk shirt revealing a navy and silver silk corset. It had a silver swirl pattern woven into the dark navy material. Along the boning was silver stitching and silver trim at the top and bottom. Thin strips of silver and navy were braided to make straps over the shoulders.
“But. You… just…” Absalom stumbled.
“Never argue with an intelligence officer. You’ll get nowhere.” Law advised as he handed over the leather jacket. “Is that one new?”
“Kinda. I’ve had it for a while, just haven’t worn it.” She pulled on the jacket and headed for the bikes, zipping the jacket as she went. “Sure you don’t wanna ride Cade's?”
Law tossed the duffle bag into the back of the trailer. “I don’t even know how the hell you’re going to ride it with your short little legs.” He said watching her roll the bike out as he grabbed her helmet. “He was a good foot taller than you. Shorty."
She propped the bike with it’s cobra styled kickstand. Grinning up at her brother she knelt and made an adjustment on the foot clutch moving it closer so she could reach it. “You really think that the Roscoe couldn’t figure something out?” using the ratchet, she anchored it in the new location. “Gonna have to tell him how little faith you have in his fab skills.”
Shaking his head, he handed the helmet over. “He made the clutch adjustable.”
“You wrench?” Chevy asked as she paired her phone to the helmet.
“I can do some.” She admitted putting her phone away. “Usually, when I went to help in the garage, something else got tuned instead.” Evie laughed at the look on her brothers’ face. “Someone just realized what the second motorcycle lift was for.”
“I think we need to find a house.” Ink observed.
“With a garage.” Tank added.
“I won’t object.” She said swinging her leg over and starting the machine. “Joshua’s?”
“Go to the club. I’m supposed to look at numbers.” Law corrected. His sister nodded and put her helmet on before pushing off. He watched her ride away, easily shifting with the suicide shifter on the side.
“Still don’t know how the hell she rides that thing. Foot clutch. Suicide shifter." He grabbed his helmet out of the trailer and locked it while he was talking to no one in particular. He straddled the other bike and then looked at Ink and Tank. “Hope you two are free for a while, she has one of her favorite toys between her legs.”
Before any of the others could respond, he pulled on the helmet and started the bike. He pulled out on the street following the same direction his sister went. Ink called the shop to reschedule his appointments. Then they were also on their bikes and headed to the club.
