Chapter 186: Sugar Free Cake

*Oh, lass. Yeh worry about your bairns and yer men. Yeh let me do the worrying about the cake. – Nessie*

Over the next several days, Nessie tried out different cake recipes for Evie’s wedding. The brothers gave thumbs up on all of them where as the girls and old ladies gave honest opinions. This was confirmed when she knowingly made a bad cake. Despite the men barely eating any of it, and the looks of disgust that they could not hide, they continued to praise her cooking.

The women knew the truth and had a hard time hiding their laughter.

The fifth attempt seemed to be the best. She tweaked it a little and made a strawberry compote for the filling. She already had a sugar free icing recipe, although she played with it a little too.

The cakes were made, as were the finger foods and Christmas Eve dinner. The compound was decorated and the garden was ready for a winter wedding. Karan had insisted on Nessie having a new dress for the wedding.

The girls picked a long emerald green velveteen dress with a low back and no sleeves. Inked artwork covered the majority of her scars, but Nessie was still uncomfortable with people seeing her back. The girls insisted, as if they knew something.

She was standing in the room, trying to make her hair cover her back, when Knuckles came in. He walked over and pulled her into his arms.

“I can’t hide my back in this.” Nessie said into his chest.

“I know.” He told her as the door behind him opened and then closed. “I have something for that.”

“A new back?” she suggested.

“But that would be a different you. And this is the you that I love.” He said helping Werewolf to slide her arms into the leather jacket. The Devil’s Saints patch was on the back with a property patch on the front. “Now, give me a kiss, babe. And let’s go have some of this special cake. You sure it’s okay for her to have? It tasted pretty damned good.”

“How the hell are you getting cake?” Werewolf demanded going to the door.

“Sleeping with the kitchen manager.” Knuckles laughed.

“Nope. Plan on keeping my oysters. Or giblets as Molly said.” Werewolf said as they went down the hall.

True to his wedding style, Trigg did the ceremony his own way. Of course, when a woman is marrying two men, it’s not exactly traditional. But it was perfect for the three of them.

Nessie leaned into Knuckles as he put an arm around her. They were watching Evie dance with her dads. Then her men each took a turn with her mom. Evie was tired and after a dance with each of her men, she found a place to sit with her feet up.

Toad came and led Nessie out onto the dance floor. Smiling up at her uncle, she followed his lead around the floor.

“I’m glad you’re here, girl.” Toad kissed her temple.

“Me too.” She laid her head on his chest. “Thank yeh for everything.”

“Anytime, girl.”

“I’m happy. I know yeh were gonna ask.”

“I don’t have to ask. It’s written all over your face. You’re in love. You’re happy. And your man is too.”

“It’s going to come to a head soon. I feel the stones pulling at me.” She whispered.

“We’ll be there for you.” He told her. “My men love you. Maybe not as much as your man. But they’ll do anything for you.”

“I know.”

At the end of the song, Knuckles took her away and danced with her. Tattooed hands with scars and cuts gently held her. He brought her left hand to his lips and kissed her finger with his mother’s ring on it.

“I love you.” He whispered oblivious to all the eyes on them.

“I love yeh, too.” She whispered back and then pulled him down to her for a kiss.

“Not on the dance floor!” Repeat called out and everyone turned to see him scooping up his three-year-old nephew who was getting ready to pee.

“Oh lord!” Zee said as she ran towards him with an infant in her arms and a little girl following her.

“She has her hands full.” Knuckles said of the blue haired woman.

“Aye. She has help coming.” Nessie leaned into him.

“Oh, please tell me it’s Chance. That would be fucking hilarious.”

“No. But his world will be turned upside down soon enough.” She laughed then inclined her head. Knuckles turned to see his brother taking the infant and leading the little girl away.

“Well, fuck me.” Knuckles murmured.

“Soon. When the stones sing.”

Chuckling, he kissed her temple. “Not what I meant, babe.”
