Chapter 94: Dr. Dad

*I’ve seen my children through everything from colds to major surgery. – Isaac*

It took nearly an hour for her temperature to drop below a hundred. When it did, all three men gave a collective sigh of relief.

“Alright, let’s see what’s wrong with this beautiful lady.” He said as he began his exam. Her blood pressure was good and pulse strong. He had noticed that she seemed to have a hard time breathing even though her lungs were clear.

Gently he pressed his thumb to her cheek just below her eye. As soon as he touched her face, she flinched away from him.

“Well, now,” Doc said softly as he tried to repeat the action on the other side of her face. “Let’s get you some antibiotics for that.”

“What is it?” Ink demanded.

“It appears that she has a sinus infection. Is she allergic to any medication?” the two men looked at each other over the woman they both loved.

“Law?” Tank suggested and Ink repeated it as he reached for his phone. Then he thought that the other man would definitely answer if his sister called and grabbed her phone.

“I don’t have any penguins.” A sleepy Law declared.

“Is your sister allergic to any medications?” Ink asked.

“Why?”

“I think she has a sinus infection.” Doc explained.

“Ask Isaac.” Law replied and Ink ended the call and found Isaac’s phone number.

“Hang on.” Isaac whispered and they could hear him moving around. After a moment he came back speaking normally. “What’s wrong, baby girl?”

“Isaac, it’s us.” Ink said. “We need to know if she’s allergic to any medications.”

“Why?” came the harsh response.

“Sir, my name is Mitchell Foreman, road name with the Saints is Doc. I’m a PA- “

“Along with being a D.A.D. I’m also an MD. I’m assuming my daughter is your patient?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Give me your findings.”

Doc went through everything from the high temperature and bringing it down to her vitals and then why he was suspecting a sinus infection. Isaac asked a few questions which were quickly and thoroughly answered. He then gave a brief medical history and drug reactions. The two men discussed a course of treatment.

“Boys, send me his number, I want to be able to follow up with him.”

Tank grunted as Ink replied with a yes sir. Isaac expected nothing less from either of them.

“Just as a warning, until she starts feeling better, she’s going to want to do nothing but sleep. You’re going to have to wake her up for everything. Eating, drinking, shower, toilet, everything. We always compared the Evie flu to the man flu and honestly, I don’t know which is worse.”

The three men looked up and saw Law come in. Rounding the bed, he looked at his sister. “Hey, dad.”

“Law.” Came the response. “It’s their first case of Evie flu. Be nice.”

“That’s why I’m here.” He replied as he started stripping down to his boxers. “One of you need to go fix her something to eat. Soft scrambled egg and toast is good.”

Ink moved off the bed leaving the phone with Doc. “I will. He’s been banned from her kitchen.”

Law reached for his sister and Tank literally growled at him. “Sweet Jesus. Look, I’m trying to help her.” He said as the other man wrapped his arms around her.

“Tank, don’t wrap her up again. Her temperature can go back up.” Doc warned.

“Morning beautiful. Come talk to Tank. Evie flu and he’s not wanting to let Law get her in the shower.”

“Tell me that coffee is mine and you get first blow job.” Dixie said from her end of the line.

“It’s all yours.” Isaac said from the background and she laughed.

“Tank, Niño, let go of her. Law knows what he’s doing. He’s had to do this a time or two.”

“I don’t want to lose her.” Tank whispered.

“You’re not, Niño.” Her mother encouraged. “Let her brother have her. I need you to do something for me.”
