Chapter 12.

Chapter 12.

“Where did you come from?” The one girl asks as they continue to flutter around us swimming gracefully.
“We come from the crystal moon pack, we’re werewolves.” Preston says proudly as the other mermaid chuckles.
“Wolves! On the bottom of the sea?” She continues laughing and I cant take my eyes off the other one.
“I’m actually half witch, I’ve been working on developing my powers and we were playing in the water and stumbled across this place.” I say as the one offers me her hand and I take it without thinking.

“You’re a witch? You must be quite powerful to be able to change elements and environments.” The one holding my hand says as we begin swimming around.
“I am, I’m the key to something.” I say almost in a trance.
“Hmm, what are your names?” She asks as the other takes Preston’s hand bringing him along with us.
“I’m Preston and this is my mate Valerie.” He says as I watch this beautiful creature move softly and the water barely even moves around us.

“Where are you taking us??” I feel the warm water comfort me pulling me along with her passed the coral walls and in to a beautiful opening.
“We’re taking you to see our father, the king of the sea. We don’t get visitors often and I’m sure he’ll want to meet you.” They say together almost completely in sync.
“Will he be mad we’re here?” Preston asks through his daze, what is happening, why is this feeling so consuming.

“He’s a hot head but he won’t be mad, as long as you bring no harm.” The one holding my hand states giving me a side eye as we continue.
“I was just trying to practice my magic but we only want to learn, nothing more.” I reassure them as bright glimmering lights come down over top of us and a beautiful stone and coral castle come in to view.
“Oh my god.” I say out loud, each place is prettier then the last. I think to myself as the one girl giggles to herself.

The small fish swarm around us as they chase each other in groups and the seaweed swirls around us.
“This is out castle, our father is inside.” They say as we all swim inside, it’s huge and open, the doorways are all arched and look to have been carved out.
“FATHER!” They both say loudly while we enter. “WE HAVE VISITORS.” They call again as a loud thump sounds through the building. How is it that we can make noise down here?

“I don’t like this, we don’t know what could happen and we’re underwater.”Preston says through mind link as I shoot him a look.
“I’m coming!” A loud voice booms through the halls and the girls stand in front of us waiting for their father patiently unfazed by the bellow of his voice. A huge merman twice the size of the girls comes swimming down the staircase holding a huge staff as he heads towards us.

“HUMANS!” He yells making me flinch back. “How are they down here?” He demands looking to his daughters for an answer.
“She’s a witch actually, and this is her wolf mate.” She states while the huge mans face drops and he turns to me.
“A witch? Who can breath underwater.” He claims as he grabs my face moving it side to side to look at me and I hear Preston growl in a low tone behind me.

“Why are you here?” He asks me still holding my chin still.
“We were just exploring, I’m new to my power so I was practicing.” I say softly as he looks deeply in to my eyes looking for any flicker of doubt.
“You want to learn water magic?” He asks, I nod my head slowly and my eyes light up.
“Yes, yes please.” I say as he steps back from me.

“Good! You’ve met my daughters Alice and Cove.” He states turning to the girls and they smile dropping their heads.
“You will come here 3 times a week for the day to train with my healers and learn our magic, I have a really good feeling about this.” He claims almost thinking out loud to himself.
“Why do you want to help me?” I ask in confusion, I stop realizing I just met this man.

“You’re the key, we’ve been waiting for you for years.” He states and my mouth drops and my mind spins, how the hell does this dude know I’m the key I told the girls that not him, and waiting for my? What?
“I’m sorry sir, you’ve been waiting for me?” I ask in confusion as Preston moves closer putting his hand on my back in comfort.

“You are the witch from the prophecy, come.” He states before swimming away flicking his huge tail while he swims, Preston and I look between one another before taking off quickly to follow him. Chasing close behind I quickly get tired, goddess I’m not used to swimming this much. We enter a huge open court yard after walking through the palace the water around us is a mix between green and blue but so clear, the seaweed moves in a dance to either side of the entrance, there are huge coloured stones leading a path to the middle of the underwater garden.

My mind lost in the peaceful trance I slowly follow the king while taking in as much as I can of my surroundings.
“Our ancestors spoke of the you for many years, we’ve been waiting for the key to arrive and bring together the supernatural world.” The king starts as he leads us down each path, looking closer I notice the stones are pictures. Each picture linked together to tell a story.

“This was your birth, the energy in the world shifted the second you took your first breath. Each species has been a stranger for centuries with no hope in sight for unity.” He states while pointing to the stones showing a red haired woman carrying me.
“Why me? How am I supposed to bring each species together in to peace?” I ask in confusion as we move to the next image of me sitting on the ground with blasts of light coming from me, that must be when Parker died and my magic was unlocked. My heart hurts thinking of my lost mate.

“You darling are half werewolf half witch, you’ve already united the two. With your magic and the power you will be able to possess, the species will have no choice but to follow you, with great power comes great responsibility.” The king says softly leaning in to me just above a whisper
“My mother was the one who told me I was the key, she never explained much beyond that she was to busy trying to capture me and force my magic.” I say looking down as the king visibly looks hurt.

“Your mother should have supported you, a child with your power needs guidance and a teacher.” He says softly while touching my arm. We walk to the next image of me training, developing my powers above land in wolf form and underwater.
“I will teach you everything I know to help you prepare for what you will need to do, we’ve been waiting for you to come so we could help you. Mermaids have been lost for years now, unable to go to the main land due to the danger of the other species, we need to bring peace back and I think you may be our only hope.” He finishes as my eyes go wide and I zone out looking at the stone pictures.

The last picture in the group is of me above the other species, blood splattered and body’s laying around. Wolves, witches, vampires and more, my mouth drops as I look at it.
“No one ever said it would be easy.” The king states as he swims off leaving Preston and I to look around the garden and inspect the prophecy. My heart pounds in my ears thinking about what he just said, now I need to worry about this as well as sloan.

“What the fuck.” Preston says from behind me as I turn to look at him.
“Mermaids, who would have thought.” He says looking around checking to make sure no one is around.
“What the hell do we do now?” He asks taking my hand in his while I let out a deep breath I didn’t notice I had been holding in.

“Now we go back and let Alpha know what we’ve found out, after that I guess I start training with the mermaids.” I say shrugging my shoulders.
“You’re going to come back? How can you trust them?” He responds making me tilt my head in confusion.
“What do you mean?” I ask and his mouth drops.

“What do you mean? We just met them and you’re going to come and train with them now?” He asks visibly distressed by my decision
“My mother told me about the prophecy, I thought she was lying and trying to manipulate me. Turns out she was telling the truth, only difference is she wanted to take my powers for herself so she could take over power of the supernaturals.” I explain as he nods slowly still looking confused.

“It’s hard to explain but I think that this is what I need to do next, now come on lets head back to the pack.” I say before we head back in to the palace, we say goodbye to the king thanking him for all his help before promising to return in a few days to start training. After leaving Preston and I quickly swim back to the surface and pull ourselves from the small cave pond to dry off.
