chapter 39.
Chapter 39.
Valerie's POV.
We come to the clearing before the clutch as Stella’s coven masks our scent as well as cloaks us with their shield, having her coven on our side is a huge asset.
“I will go in first with Valerie and the brothers” I hear Evan call out over mind link.
“Each group is only 10 minutes a part, the vampires are very old and very strong try not to take them on one on one and make sure you go for the kill each time.” He states and I hear everyone agree before the 4 of us begin moving in.
Inside the clutch everything seems quite, everything is run down and seems left in place. It’s almost like a ghost town that’s been left for years, when in reality the vampires have only been gone for a few weeks.
“I don’t like how quiet it is.” Evan says softly through mind link.
“Maybe they’re in the main building.” I say back hoping we’re not walking in to an ambush.
An arrow comes flying through the air hitting the ground right behind us as we all freeze.
“Where the hell did that come from?” Evan asks and before I can answer I hear Stella through mind link.
“Alpha, our shield only does so much, they can’t see us but they can probably sense Valerie’s power.” She states as Evan nods.
“Ok everyone stay alert for random attacks, they will try to weaken the shield.” He says before we continue moving.
“HeyEvan, why would the vampires be using arrows?” I ask as another one comes flying through the air just missing one of the brothers.
“Ok everyone spread out and start looking for who ever is guarding this place.” He tells the group again pausing as he looks around for a moment before we keep going. Everyone splits up and within moments we hear a loud yelp making us all look up as one of our warriors goes flying through the air getting caught in a net.
“Get him down quickly, then take your places. Someone will be on their way soon looking for what they just caught.” Two of our warriors Andrew and Coal go running over biting away at the rope while everyone crouches close to the ground waiting for our opponent.
My heart pounds in my ears as the tension in the air rises, we stay crouched for what seems like forever until two tiny little lights become visible walking out to the netted trap that now lays torn in to bits on the ground.
“What the hell could that have been?” The one man asks as the other grabs his radio on his shoulder.
“Boss, we need trackers in here, something or someone has crossed the boarder.” The second man states as the other continues to try and look around while we quietly wait and watch.
Suddenly Evan strikes ripping in to the first man, still hidden as he pulls the chunky small guy apart effortlessly making the second man tremble in his place as he fumbles over his feet trying to find the strength to run away, Killian grabs hold of him holding him in place as he drains his blood, watching the man turn white before my eyes as he tosses him to the ground.
Killian’s head snaps up in horror as Evan turns to him.
“These are hunters.” He states in a monotone voice sending chills across my body.
“The membership must have called them in for help once they realized we left.” Mathew claims as Evans's head drops.
“Ok, we have the numbers. We’re taking them all out.” He claims as I stand shocked while the rest all nod.
2 more teams have shown up so far and we have all split up waiting to find hunters to kill as we go, at this rate we should be at the main house of the clutch by morning. More hunters have been showing up to try and find what has been setting off their traps, each time our warriors help everyone out of the traps before going in for the kill.
We take shifts resting and sleeping as we scan the land killing anyone we come across, all that’s left here is the hunters.
“How much further?” Preston asks as he prances up behind me, blood dripping from his muzzle.
“Another few hours and well be there.” I state as he follows in behind me.
“I love you, you know that right.” He states out of no where and I feel his aura drop.
“Preston we will be fine, there are way more of us then there are of them.” I say with a small laugh hoping to encourage him a bit.
We finally reach the main building and to my surprise it’s not even light out yet, there are 2 guards at the front and roughly 10 walking around the building, we all take our places and kill them on cue with the Alpha so no one is able to radio anyone else. Once we are done the Alpha pushes the door open, torches line the walls around us as the damp darkness seeps through to the bone.
It smells like blood and my nose cringes to the smell.
“Valerie you and Preston take the second group, clear a room and build a fire with any furniture you can find we are burning the body’s. I’m not risking anyone making it out of this alive.” He commands in his Alpha tone, we both nod before turning to our group leading them down a smaller hallway.
We find 2 men in the room chatting away completely unaware of the danger they’re in, 3 wolves go after each man ripping in to them. The one man dies easily obviously a hunter, not half as strong as a supernatural. The second man takes all 3 hits hitting the ground and almost bouncing back up, in shock I step back allowing the rest of my team throw attack after attack at him while I mind link Evan.
“Alpha this one man is a part of the membership I believe, we’re having a hard time taking him down.” I state as I start dragging tables and chairs in to the room.
“That’s why I said to start the fire, you need to rip them apart and burn them.” He sates as I use my magic to light the wood up creating a hot blaze. I turn back around to see the man now on the ground in a pile of pieces.
“Toss him in to the fire, Evan says we need to burn them.” I say to the warriors and they nod doing as I say, once we burn the two men we killed we begin collecting dead bodies that Evan and his fighters are leaving behind. Stella’s coven has done good holding the shield, it flickers some times but by then we are already tearing in to the person we are going after. By the end of the first day we had killed 8 vampires from the membership and over 25 hunters and we continued through the night.
*2 days later*
Valeries POV.
“Go faster! Just get him back to the pack I’ll handle the rest of this!” I demand loudly screaming at Parker and Killian as they take off carrying Evan, blood pouring from him as the wounds refuse to clot.
“Theres a team of healers waiting a few miles outside the clutch get to them first to stop the bleeding.” I yell as they quickly leave my sight and my heart pounds in my chest, Evan was fighting the last vampire from the membership when one of the hunters used an enchantress to paralyze him allowing the vampire to get the upper hand before Preston and I showed up.
My magic is running low, Preston killed the vampire while our team finished off the last of the hunters. The only one left is this screaming demon lady that paralyzed Evan, I go flying through the air quickly before smashing in to the ground hard making my head spin.
I struggle to get up when I see her dark lace frills fall around her as she continues to approach me, I concentrate hard on my magic forcing it through my body faster then I ever have before. Fire begins to pour from my finger tips spreading around her as it touches on to her pretty lace, she goes to fight back but before she can I engulf her body in flames forcing her to collapse to the ground in a shrieking mess of burned ash, her screams float through my mind as everything around me begins to go black.
