Chapter 43.
Valeries POV.

We pop up through the water as I look to Cove.
“Ready?” I say with a smile as she returns it and makes her way to the edge pulling herself up to the land, she closes her eyes and within a few moments legs emerge from the water instead of a tale. She starts laughing hysterically.
“Oh my god. I have legs! Actual legs, soft non scaly legs!” She squeals making me laugh, I help her up as we make our way to my small cubby of clothes.

I pullout a light sun dress handing it to her before grabbing one for myself.
“Ok we have to walk back to the pack, are you ready.” I ask smiling as she nods excitedly wanting to sprint off, we crawl through the opening as I help her and we stand up on the other side. The first few steps are messy and sloppy and she almost falls to the ground a few times but before long she is walking one foot in front of the other pretty well.

We reach the hospital after a very long walk and Cove learning to use her legs, Emily is sitting at the front desk like normal and she gives me a face when she looks up making panic rise in me.
“What’s wrong I ask her softly.
“They found out what’s wrong with the Alpha and it’s not good.” She says looking down.
“Tell me.” I demand more aggressively then I mean too.

“The memberships venom comes from a poisonous plant that doesn’t effect the vampires, I guess the membership was eating these plants regularly to make the poison come out through their bite. It eats away at the muscle tissue destroying it as it goes.” She states dropping her head.
“How do we stop it?” I ask feeling my heart stick in my throat.
“I’m not sure, doctor Blair is looking for a cure now, the brothers are in the library searching.” She answers as I feel my chest tighten. Evan is my best friend and I need him, we need to figure out how to stop this.

I walk out of the hospital to go to the library and help the brothers, I walk in to find them both sitting in the middle of the floor with books piled all around them. Their heads snap up to me as I close my eyes and picture what I’m looking for, the books begin to rise spinning around with one another and I hear the boys duck for cover as I continue when suddenly all the books fall to the floor except for one.

I walk over to the book grabbing it from the air in front of me as the page stays open on a picture of beautiful glowing flowers, the flowers nectar is cooked down in to an antidote for the poison, the book states the flowers grow in the west where the poisonous plant is found, near where the clutch used to be.

“Ok, this is what we need to stop the poison from spreading through the Alpha, the flower is called a star kiss it blooms at night time which is when it can be recognized and found. Luckily it’s almost night time, we can make it to the clutch in a few hours if we shift, I’ll lend you my power so we are quicker.” I state as the brothers nod.
“I will mind link Preston and we will be on our way.” I claim before turning my back to head outside, I mind link Preston and Allison letting them know what we are doing, I tell Allison to go check on the Alpha and wait with him till we are back. By morning we will have the antidote and hopefully the Alpha will start to get better.

Once outside I drop my clothes to shift as the boys avert their gaze, once shifted I wait for them to change as well before opening my energy to allow my power to flow in to my pack members. Within seconds were off, my paws nearly touch the ground as my slim body flys through the night. After running for what seems like forever we finally make it to the clutch crossing over the boarder feels dark and sad all swirled in to one, the air is heavy and filled with the smell of death.

I turn to the brothers small bats fluttering above me as I remind them what the flower looks like through mind link and we all begin searching, the clutch lands extend miles and the flower could be anywhere. I decide to check the forest edge and riverside thinking that would be the most likely place, coming up empty I huff heading back to the main compound when I hear a noise from behind me. I freeze as Anna’s senses kick in taking over, I crouch to the ground making myself smaller as I attempt to listen.

“There’s someone here, I’m in the forest edge come now.” I demand through mind link to the brothers as I stay close to the ground, I start army crawling away from the sound trying to put some distance between us when I see a dart land just in front of me making my heart race. Hunters.

I take off flying through the night not caring about the noise I make, I need to give myself some space so I can fight. I break through the tree line when I notice a little flutter above me and I know the brothers have made it to me, I shift quickly to my human form.
“Hunters” I whisper as they both fly up higher out of sight, I crouch down again sinking my hands in to the dirt as I allow my mind to take over.

The ground begins to rumble fiercely as screams begin to fill the air I can hear at least 4 different people, having no team with me means I’ll have to handle this on my own. I use my magic to pick up the screaming voices carrying them over to me, suspending them in the air I paralyze their body’s just like I did to Allison’s father. I decide to break their bones in their legs and arms insuring they can’t do anything making them eventually pass out from the pain when I finally drop them to the ground.

The brothers come fluttering down as the shift landing on the ground beside me.
“Holy crap how’d you do that?” Killian asks in shock as he stares at the pile of people on the ground in front of us.
“That doesn’t matter, we need something to contain them in while we take them back to the pack.” I state as they both look at one another before Mathew talks.
“The membership used to have huge cages that would be wheeled away to the hunters, they’re in the castle I believe.” He states as I nod.

“Ok I’ll get the cage you guys find the flowers lets get out of here.” I finish before turning to find what I need, I stop in front of my prisoners they will be out for a while so they won’t be getting up any time soon. I bend down blowing a spell over them to keep them immobile just in case before heading towards the castle, I find the cage quickly there is so many of them line against the wall in the basement it would be hard to miss, I drag one outside bringing it over to the collapsed hunters when I see the boys come running over with a hand full of the glowing flowers we came for.

I smile happily as they begin tucking them away in to our pouch.
“Ok search the hunters and take all the weapons then toss them in, this place is ready.” I state as Killian nods grabbing the first hunter, I help Mathew with the last of the flowers equaling a few weeks worth of medicine and we toss the last hunter in. Packing away all their weapons I shift back in to my wolf, Killian puts the packs over my back securing them to me before attaching the cage to my harness.

They both shift taking flight above me as we all take off back in to the dark to find our way back to our Alpha.
