Chapter 19.

Chapter 19

The warmth of Preston’s body lingers beside mine comforting me as Evan links with the guards up ahead keeping an eye on the tree line, I listen to the forest closely picking up on small noises. My ears perk up following the sounds waiting for a command when Evan chimes in my head.
“Can you sense anything?” He asks and I close my eyes pulling up the image of the forest in my mind, focusing hard I look through the area counting about 50 unknown wolves.

“Anything you can do without this turning in to a blood bath?” Evan asks looking over to me. I close my eyes again I picture a huge glass wall in front of us, tall and strong. Push it forward with my mind forcing the wolves back, I see them in my mind jump and move with confusion trying to force themselves back to their spots with no hope. We can hear their yelps and barks as my hard solid wall forces them away, once I get all of them in to one space far enough way I light the wall I made on fire forcing them further back off our land, the wolves scurry in confusion trying to get back from the hot flames when I start to rebuild our stone wall they attacked with explosives.

It doesn’t take long before the wolves retreat taking off back in to the night, Evan shifts going to speak with the guards who are now also shifted and laughing hysterically.
“They had no idea what was happening.” The one wolf says as another joins in the laughter.
“Did you see them jumping around like that? They looked so funny.” He responds and Evan clears his throat grabbing their attention and they stiffen standing up straight.

“What happened here tonight?” The alpha asks both boys as their body’s shift from side to side.
“We were walking around, doing the nightly guard when we heard a large bang come from behind us making the ground rumble. We took cover and started looking for what made the commotion, the wall began to crumple apart and fall to the ground which is when we mind linked you to let you know about the attack. Everything seemed normal all night up until then.” The one says as Evan nods and I step forward.
“There was around 50 in the forest watching.” I say walking up.

“I wonder what they want?” Preston says softly walking over to join us.
“I’m not sure, but it can’t be good.” Evan answers while looking over to me.
“If they didn’t know you were a witch they do now.” He finishes and Preston nods agreeing.
“We knew this could happen.” I say. “I’m stronger now and I have more control, I can protect us.” I shrug as Preston laughs and I give him a pinched look.

“Valerie I know you’re the key but do you really think you can take on packs of were wolves at once? What about vampires or Lycian’s? There are so many supernaturals that we’ve never even faught before, if they decide they want to come for your power do you think you can take them? A group of 50 wolves is very different then a war with the supernaturals.” Evan claims as he looks over to me and I sigh.
“You haven’t seen what I can do Evan, you only see what I let you. I am the key yes which means this is my destiny this is my purpose in life.” I finish as he puts his head down.

“Double the guards and send scouts out, lets try and find out who they are and what they want before this gets out of hand.” Evans large voice bellows over everyone as guards resume their position and warriors talk amongst themselves deciding who will take first watch with the guards. Evan, Preston and I shift to head back to the gardens, he will talk with the board in the morning about what happened here tonight and we will take it from there. For now we need to get back to the ceremony and accept the new members.

When we reach the garden there is a huge bonfire burning off to the side that catches my eye and I feel panic over come me, my mind flashes back to Parker’s funeral and I feel the air leave my body and cold spreads cross me. I stop and my mind goes in to a trance flashing through all the memories we shared, my heart aches while it feels like it’s being pulled from my chest and the images continue to hit. Tears steam down my face and the rush of emotions over takes me, collapsing I blink frantically trying to take back control when I feel the cold wash over me again.

Sitting on the ground breathing deeply. I struggle to sort the thoughts out in my mind, I haven’t had flash backs that intense before unless it’s a vision not just out of no where though. I feel Preston come up behind me when everything finally starts to slow.
“Hey are you ok?” He asks crouching down to me.
“Yeah I think so, the fire triggered a memory that was really hard to get out of.” I say as he nods helping me up.

Evans loud voice booms over the pack making everyone quiet down while we make our way up to the front to join him.
“Hello everyone, I’m so glad we could all be here tonight to get together as one.” He starts as I feel a smile cross my face.
“Now as we all know the pack has been growing rapidly over the last year, with taking over the pack run by former Alpha Romeo, as well as accepting new pack members from all other packs and rogues.” He continues.

“Luna’s family tried to attack recently resulting in them loosing their pack along with it’s members, tonight we accept you in to the crystal moon pack to join our family.” The crowd erupts in to cheers at the end of his sentence, everyone howls and cry’s out happily as the lights above us all twinkle away and we soak in the moonlight from above us. The new pack members stand in front of Evan with their heads bowed in submission.
“The clear water pack is no more, their leader has fallen and they will be joining the crystal moon pack, do you vow to be a loyal member, fight for your family and defend the pack at all costs.” Alpha bellows as the clear water members all raise their heads to the moon howling loudly.

A rush of power wash’s over everyone making me close my eyes and thrive in it, I lean my head back peacefully feeling the power begin to flow through, my hands tingle and I release the power back as it covers the pack in a glowing light linking us together as one.
“You all have been given jobs and are expected to keep up with your responsibilities, you will be treated fairly and given a home on the pack lands.” Evan continues as the crowd quiets.

“Now, we won’t be doing the moonlight run tonight, instead we will be doing a moonlit bath at crystal lake.” He finishes as everyone looks over to him slightly shocked.
“A moonlight bath instead of run?” One wolf says in confusion.
“Yes, tonight will be a peaceful ceremony to connect with our wolves, the earth and one another. So when everyone is ready we will begin heading over to crystal lake.”

Evan dismisses everyone and I feel Preston’s fingers interlock with mine catching my attention I turn looking up to him when I feel my entire body relax, I smile softly as he pulls me in to his chest holding me for a few moments while we breathe together in sync. Our body’s combine together in perfect harmony, he calms my energy and we slowly rock back and forth with one another, I feel the Alpha’s presence come up behind us when I slowly open my eyes and life my head.

“What was that?” Evan asks calmly and I look at him in confusion.
“What was what?” I ask looking between him and Preston.
“A light came from you again, it covered the new members and then the pack. You didn’t notice?” Preston says, now we all just look confused.
“I felt it, I didn’t think I did it though, I thought it was the pack.” I answer while looking down to my hands.
“Well wolves definitely don’t do that.” Evan says chuckling under his breath.
“Do you think it could be because of the prophecy? The mermaid king said you had to bring everyone together.” Preston asks and I see Evans face turn serious.
“Maybe the more packs we get to join ours the better, it’s allowing you to link everyone together bringing us as one.” Evan thinks out loud as he begins to pace.

“Ok and what about the other species?” I ask in confusion. “How do we get them to join?”
“Well the mermaids are on your side so you can join them in to us as well.” Preston states and Evan nods.
“I think the more people that join the stronger the power is between all of us, it’s like a power sharing link. I can feel it when I link in to the pack, like little wires carrying the power and strength between everyone.” I say softly almost to myself as they both nod.
“That would explain the rush we get when the light comes from you.” Preston’s remark catches my attention, they feel the rush too. We decide to table the topic until tomorrow when I can meet with the mermaids.
