Chapter 41.
Valeries POV.

I wake up before Alison and roll over to see her still sleeping soundly, there’s no real threat since we have completed the prophecy but I know if Evan wakes up and finds out we didn’t stay in the Alpha house while he was out he’d have my head. I gently pull myself up carful not to disturb Alison as I move, I find Preston in the nursery helping Poppy and Pepper with the Alpha twins.

He holds one of the babies up to his face as he makes all these weird sounds letting the baby grab on to his nose and eyes, I giggle as I walk in making his head shoot up to me and he readjusts moving the baby back to his side.
“Are you having fun?” I ask with a laugh as he smiles and nods.

“There wasn’t a lot of kids in Romeo’s pack, none that survived anyways and nothing compared to the amount of kids I’ve seen here.” He states as my face drops, I never really thought about it but there was only a small handful of kids who showed up here when we took over Romeo’s land.
“I always loved children but like I said there weren’t many until I came here, and now with trining and all the duty’s we’ve taken on with the beta position I don’t have a lot of time to spend volunteering at the schools and stuff.” He states almost sadly making me feel my heart ping with sadness.

“Well maybe we can talk with the Alpha about switching your training, instead of training warriors we can see if you can train some of the kids who are preparing to come in to their wolves.” I say softly making his face light up, he nods before handing the baby back to Pepper and tucking away his blanket on his cot.
“What are we doing today?” He asks as we walk out and head to the kitchen.
“I’m going to make Alison breakfast then I want to go spend some time with the mermaids and update them on our progress.” I answer as we reach the kitchen and I hear chatter behind the door.

“Ok, I’ll hang back here and prepare for the celebration, are you checking on the Alpha before you go?” He asks louder so I can hear him over all the wolves wondering around filling their trays with food to bring out to the eating areas in the garden, we have had way to many people around lately to even consider eating in the pack houses. We grab 2 stacks of plates before following all the servers outside, we place them down taking 3 plates to grab food before parting ways.

I grab Alison waffles filled with strawberry’s blue berries and honey, I also get her eggs and bacon before I head up to her room with it. Opening the door I hear the shower on and know she’s already up, I set her plate on the side table and collapse on to her bed munching away on the food I grabbed for myself. A few moments later she comes out with a towel wrapped around her and a big smile.
“Ouuu waffles!” She shrieks while launching herself on to the bed turning to grab the plate, she sits happily bouncing back and forth as she eats making me giggle. It’s good to see her start getting back to normal.

I finish up eating with Alison before taking off to start my day, she will be hanging out with the twins for the day, they will help with the babies while Alison handles Luna duties and helps the new members settle in. I stop in at the new hospital to see the Alpha and see how he’s doing, I walk in to see Emily sitting quietly at the front desk flipping through files.
“Oh hey Valerie, what are you up too?” He smooth calm voice flows through the air effortlessly.

“I’m just stopping in to see Evan, is he awake?” I ask softly as I lean up against the counter, she nods while she turns to lead me to his room.
“He’s tired, he’s having a hard time healing due to the memberships powers, he took out most of the older vampires and they are apparently also able to release venom. I guess the older vampires produce a poison they can release through their fangs, it’s been stunting the Alpha’s healing.” She explains to me as she opens his door allowing me in.

Evan rolls towards the door slowly wincing as he goes.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” I ask him softly while I take a seat beside his bed.
“Sore, it’s hard to move almost like my muscles won’t allow me too.” He says while trying to adjust his pillows and I stand back up to help him.
“It’s probably the venom, Emily said the vampires apart of the membership weren’t just stronger they also have poison in their fangs.” I say as his eye widen.
“Perfect, how long before it stops.” He asks rolling his eyes.

“I’m not sure, our doctors don’t now much about the poison I’ll talk with the brothers today and see if they know of anything to help speed up the healing.” I answer as he nods.
“Thank you Valerie, how is Alison doing and the pack?” He asks swiftly trying to raise his head to look at me better making me laugh.
“She is doing good, the twins are still helping with your twins and Preston has pack duties covered, we started some of this years events planning yesterday and I’m going to see the mermaids shortly.” I say as he nods again.

“Ok, feel free to put dates in place for your party planing then just bring me the list to sign, I should be out of here soon I hope.” He states as a nurse opens the door again coming back in with a bag of saline and meds.
“Ok well I should go, I’ll let you rest and I’ll check I tonight when I’m back from the ocean.” I say taking his hand in mine giving it a gentle squeeze as he smiles back to me before I turn to leave.

Once outside I decide to shift in to my large reddish brown wolf, Anna hasn’t been out to run since we went against the membership and I did most of that in my human form. I stretch my paws out in front of me feeling the ground beneath my paws the dirt squishing between my toes, I push my nose in to the dirt inhaling deeply allowing the smell of the earth to fill my nostrils.

After a few minutes of grounding myself I finally decide to take off in a light jog off towards the forest taking in my beautiful surroundings as I go, I stop at the girls cabin and sniff the air hard, I can smell the vampires so I know they’re here. I shift back to my human form and go to the shed to grab a robe before knocking on the door, Killian answers it quickly with a big smile on his face.

“Ahh good to see you Valerie, come in for some tea.” He gestures as I smile back walking through the door.
“Thank you but I’ll only be a moment, I just have some questions about the membership.” I state as his face turns and I see Mathew turn the corner.
“All of them are dead?” Mathew states while bringing the tea tray in to the sun porch while beginning to pour the cups.

“Yes but the Alpha is still in the hospital trying to heal, the vampires that were apart of the membership had venom in their teeth, poison.” I state as they both look at me blankly.
“We didn’t know anything about poison, we didn’t even know vampires were able to do that.” Killian states looking very confused.
“Ok well I need you guys to find all the information and documents you can on your kind, we need to figure out what is wrong with the Alpha and how to stop it. Your job today is to search through all the info you can speak to the witches as well as doctor Blair and figure it out please, I have to visit the mermaids.” I state before I drink the rest of the tea in my cup and standing to see myself out.
