Chapter 42.
Valeries POV.

“When will you be back?” They both call before I’m out of ear shot.
“Tonight, I’ll come and find you when I’m back then we will go over what you’ve found.” I finish before shifting back and allowing Anna to have full control once again, this time I head straight to the caves letting my feet pound in to the ground bellow me as I go.

I reach my caves quickly sliding through the opening as I feel the energy hit me like a brick wall, my body begins sucking it in drawing the power from it. I shift to my human form stumbling as my body adjusts still wanting to bring in more power making me feel overwhelmed. I walk over and wade in to the water ignoring the feeling I’m getting around me as I try to focus on my breathing training my body again to take in the water, since Amara took the darkness from me my magic has felt different it’s like having to learn everything again but slightly differently.

I walk on the bottom of the sea floor talking my time as I go, I notice so much more now as well. It’s like I can see magic in everything, colours are brighter smells are stronger everything is different and it’s good it just takes some adjusting. I make my way to the palace as I watch the other mermaids and mermen swim around above me, swimming would. Have been faster but for some reason I wanted to walk, I wanted to see everything I’ve missed every time I’ve come down here before rushing around to train and meet with the king.

The guards open the gate doors when the see me coming bowing as I pass making me smile, everyone is so welcoming here. I walk in to the castle as the room sounds silent.
“Hello?” I call out as I go in to the living room and sit down on the big shell chair in the middle of the floor.
“Oh Valerie is that you?” I hear Cove call through the castle making me laugh.
“Yes, I’m in here.” I call back while kicking my feet up as she comes through the large opening from the hall, the castle is set up very open you can see and speak through basically the whole thing except where the bedrooms are upstairs, it’s the only space with privacy.

“Oh father will be so happy that you’re here! We’ve been waiting for you to come and update us on your progress. It’s been so long now that we were getting worried, we thought something had happened to you.” She states while pulling me up in to a big hug making me burst out in to laughter once again.
“No, no I’m fine.” I say giggling still.

“Where is your dad at?” I ask as I slouch back in to my chair while she takes a seat on the long carved out coral couch.
“He’ll be down soon he probably sensed you come in.” She says whistling loudly making me cringe back.
“Sense me?” I ask confused as two worker respond to her whistle coming to see what she needs, she asks them to grab some lemonade and refreshments as they nod happily taking off to get what she asks for.

“Your power is flowing off you in waves, I’m surprised you don’t make the wolves drop to their knees.” She giggles as my eyes go wide.
“Really, I didn’t notice any change, well besides the fact one of the covens removed a dark force from my magic that my mother left on me. My magics a little different now.” I claim as she laughs.
“Well yeah, you also hold the power of almost every mystical creature in the world.” She says and with that the king comes booming in with his loud voice filling the room.

“Valerie!” He shouts while rushing over to hug me as well.” I laugh while he squeezing the air from my lungs making me choke.
“Oh sorry darling I didn’t mean to hurt you.” He says placing me back down.
“No you didn’t hurt me, I’m ok.” I answer as we all sit together in a circle.
“Where’s Alice?” I ask as the king waves his hand.

“She found her mate, she’s been off galivanting with him.” He states almost unimpressed.
“Ok well I guess it’s just the 3 of us then, I came to tell you I did it. I completed the prophecy, the supernaturals are at peace, which means you guy can come back to the surface now.” I state happily pointing up to the surface as the king smiles happily.
“Ooh I know you could do it!” He states while beaming with pride.
“We will be holding a celebration in a weeks time, you’re invited to come and join us if you’d like.” I answer as I feel myself blush almost feeling embarrassed to be asking.

“Of coarse we will attend, now that you’ve completed the prophecy there isn’t any threat to us coming back, we can safely go about finding our mates and socializing with the other species again.” He says in his firm loud voice making me laugh.
“Great it will be a pleasure to have you, I need to be going soon though. There was an issue with our Alpha during one of the battles and I need to help my pack figure it out and fill in until he is back on his feet.” I finish as he nods.

“Why don’t you take Cove back with you, she loves party planing and I’m sure she would love seeing the main land.” He states as her eyes widen and she smiles brightly.
“Oh yes please Valerie take me with you, I will help with anything you need.” She beams happily as I begin giggling and shrug my shoulders.
“Sounds good to me, how do you come to the main land though.” I say looking confused as the king makes his way to a small box on the side table he opens it pulling out a small shell necklace.
“This necklace is enchanted by a witch, you will picture yourself with feet once you are on land and they will appear, you think of your tail when you’re back in the water and it will appear.” He states handing the necklace to Cove.
“You must wear the necklace the whole time you are on land though otherwise you will return to a mermaid and will need to find water as soon as possible, remember we can’t be out of the water for longer then a night in our mermaid form.” The king states while looking at Cove talking seriously now.

“What happens if you don’t make it back to the water in time?” I ask confused for a moment before the king turns to me to speak.
“Mermaids will die if the aren’t in the water for longer then a night, our body’s crave the sea and our home, the necklace allows us to move around on the mainland and suppresses the need for the sea but only if it’s being worn.
“How many of these do you have?”I ask. While looking at the necklace in her hands.
“Every mermaid has them, we don’t use them anymore but they were passed down through family’s.” He explains as I nod taking in all the information, an enchanted shell, who would have thought.
“Well you better get going.” He states while standing to hug Cove then me before we finally head out making out way back to my caves.
