Chapter 32.

Poppy’s POV.

So far we’ve moved over 10 family’s on to the pack lands and so far so good, Valerie has linked each family the day after they arrive and tonight we link in 4 more wolf packs. The membership hasn’t noticed Killian and Mathew have been moving vampires out of the clutch so hopefully we can get the rest out without setting them off.

Killian comes up behind me startling me as I stand in the kitchen washing dish’s.
“A little jumpy are we?” He says while planting a kiss on my neck from behind making me giggle.
“Sorry I was just thinking, I didn’t even notice you come in.” I answer softly as I rinse the plates I just washed.
“Thinking about?” He asks in between playful kisses.

“Just the membership, something seems off.” I say while turning to face him.
“What do you mean?” He cocks his head to the side as I exhale deeply.
“It’s just a feeling, everything has been going very smoothly and I don’t know but I think that theres something we’re missing or maybe just not seeing.” I respond as he continues kissing while I lean my head back and allow myself to push in to the counter.

Suddenly I hear someone clear their throat behind us and I jump before fixing my top and I feel my face go bright red as Killian laughs and Pepper scolds me.
“Sorry to interrupt but the Alpha is requesting us.” She says and I nod before finally exhaling, my eyes go wide as I look over to Killian who’s still laughing.

We meet Evan on the south side where the building is being done, walking up we see Preston giving orders as Alpha Evans screws around on his phone.
“You needed us?” I ask softly as Evan looks up.
“Yes Killian can leave tonight, bring back more family’s in the morning and lets try to speed this up a bit.” He starts as we both nod agreeing.
“Also Emily is working in the medic centre tonight so I need you to watch the babies.” He finishes as his eyes go back down to his phone and Killian and I both walk off to go complete our tasks.

I say goodbye to Killian for the night before heading back to the Alpha house, inside I find Pepper with the twins.
“Have you seen Alison today? I ask softly to not wake the babies as Pepper shakes her head and I slip back out the door, I gently knock on the Alpha’s bedroom door when I get no answer so I knock slightly harder this time and wait again. Still no answer, I push the door open seeing Alison in a little lump in the middle of the bed.

“Alison?” I ask softly while walking over to her side of the bed, she’s awake but just staring out the window.
“Alison? Are you ok?” I ask as she continues to ignore me. I sit down in front of her, I place my hands on her face moving her hair out of the way as I notice her cheeks are wet and she’s been crying and my heart brakes.
“It will get better, Pepper and I will stay as long as you and Evan need us too.” I say softly as her eyes flicker to me before resuming her stare.

“How about I run you a warm bath and I tell you about mine and pepper’s child hood?” I say while going to stand as I hear her small voice say ok from her little lump and I smile, maybe I can get through to her even if it’s only for a few moments. I go to the bathroom turning the water on while adding the oils to the bath.
“Well Pepper and I were the first born’s to a small witch family, our mother was the head of the coven and we had around 100 members, our coven was deep in the woods. We had a small village and my parents were ally’s with neighbouring packs, we had everything we needed and we lived freely. I remember being a child just able to run and playing in the huge wildflower fields with Pepper, back then we thought it was just a flower field. Now that we’re older we think it was our covens herb crops for spells.” I begin to ramble on as I notice her begin to follow along listening.

I help Alison get undressed before making our way to the bathroom, I help her in to the water as I visibly see her relax.
“Is it too hot?” I ask as she shakes her head.
“Keep talking.” She states making me smile.
“Ok, well the fields were lined with different flowers and wonderful smelling plants. Our mother was a soft and sweet woman, she moved with grace and dignity. The coven worshiped her and not because they had too, everyone truly followed her because of how kind and wonderful she was as a leader. You remind me a lot of my mother, you lead the same way she did and it makes me proud to be apart of a pack like yours.” I say noticing a small tear escape her eyes.

“I know everything seems impossible right now, and like it will never get better but I promise it will. Having twins is hard, I have no clue how my mother did it. What I’m saying is we are here Alison, we love you and you’re our family. Pepper and I will always be here for you and the girls, the pack loves you and you should know you are missed.” I say as I see her smile softly.
“I just want the feelings to stop it’s all to much, every day I wake up and I dread seeing the babies cause I know all they’re going to do is cry. Nothing I do seems to help and I’m failing them which is eating away at me.” She says as her head drops.

“Alison they aren’t even 6 months old yet, all babies do is cry.” I say with a smile.
“You are a new mother, with twins at that. Your adjusting and it will take some time, if you need help all you need to do is ask and Pepper and I will handle it. You went through a trauma having the girls, they were cut from your body Alison. That takes a toll on you and no one expects you to be ok, we are all here to help, no one blames you on how you choose to heal after something like that.” I say as she nods still looking down.
“Thank you for talking to me Poppy.” She answers softly as I smile and continue helping her wash up.
“I heard you met your mate.” She says giving me a small smile as my heart warms thinking of Killian.
“Yes I did, and he’s a vampire.” I say making a face as she giggles.

“Ok lets get you dried off and I’ll get some pyjamas.” I say helping her out of the bath and hand her a towel. A few minutes later I return with her clean clothes and help her put them on.
“Do you want to come to the kitchen and I’ll make you something to eat?” I ask as she pushes for a moment before nodding and we both head to the kitchen.

I make her a grilled cheese with soup and set two bowls down on the table as I sit down in front of her.
“Lets eat a bit and after we can go see the babies or I can change your bedding and you can get ready for bed.” I say as I see her smile softly from the corner of my eye before nodding. We sit quietly while we eat and after about a half hour she’s almost done before pushing the plate away, I smile happily as I take her bowl. It’s been over a week since the Luna has eaten a proper meal she just seems to pick at the food we bring.

I walk Alison up to sit with Pepper and the babies while I tidy up her room when Evan walks in.
“Oh sorry Alpha, I’m just switching the bedding then I’ll be out of here.” I say smiling.
“Where is Alison?” He asks looking worried.
“She’s with Pepper sitting with the babies.” I say as he smiles.
“She wanted to see them?” He asks with surprise and relief written all over his face.
“I also got her in the bath and she ate dinner.” I say proudly as evan scoops me up in his arms in to a big hug catching me off guard.
“Thank you Poppy, you and your sister have been such a big help an I’m truly grateful for how much you do to help us.” He says making me smile and I feel a warmth spread through me, it’s been so long since I’ve felt a connection to a person like I do Pepper but the longer we’re in this pack the more it has been happening. These wolves are my family and I will always do my best by them.
