Chapter 54.
Peppers POV.

A moment later a server comes in with ice tea, lemonade and some cookies, good at least I can keep my mouth full and avoid talking. I take a cookie and a glass of lemonade and sit silently sipping away while we wait for Evan to arrive.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.” His powerful voice booms and I feel even smaller in a room with two of the most powerful people I’ve ever met.
“No problem Alpha, I’m sorry about the unexpected visit.” King Linus states while offering his hand, I watch Evan inhale Linus’s scent fully before taking his hand.

“My beta said you were Lycan, I didn’t believe her.”’ Evan says almost to himself making me smile, he moves to the other side of his desk as Linus speaks up.
“Your beta is a female?” He asks almost seeming shocked.
“Yes, her and her mate are the beta couple of the pack, she’s a hybrid witch.” Evan says proudly, he has always praised Valerie for her strength and wisdom while assisting him lead the pack.
“Our females aren’t aloud positions of power.” Linus says to himself as Evan stops.

“Well we run things a little differently, we like to include all members of the pack. Why are you here might I ask.” Evan states jumping to the point.
“I was on my way this morning to make an alliance with your pack now that the prophecy has been completed but on my way here I found my little mate lurking in the forest.” He says looking over to me with a dreamy look in his eyes making me want to fall apart.

Evans eyes go wide as he looks over to me.
“You’re mated to a Lycan.” He says almost enthusiastically.
“I wanted Pepper to join me and return to my home, but she doesn’t want to leave the pack or her sister so I wanted to speak to you about an accommodation.” Linus continues as Evan nods.
“Well where is your pack located now and how much space would you need.” Evan asks cutting right to it.
“Well there are only 8 Lycan families left and with the prophecy completed we were hoping to expand to find our mates, we are only about an hour from here in hiding.” He explains as I watch Evan nod.

“Ok well we did come in to some land recently bordering my pack, what if you move your Lycans there and that way Pepper is close enough to us and her family.” Evan asks as he looks over to me for confirmation, after a moment I nod softly agreeing.
“That would be fine, I have to accept Poppy and I won’t live together forever I just don’t want to move away from her.” I say as he nods.
“I understand, and like I said I’d rather my members stay close. Who knows maybe more of your members will find mates here.” Evan says with a chuckle, the men continue talking for a few more moments before we dismiss ourselves and head back to my cabin.

I get home and Poppy is already gone, I hear Linus on the phone in the sunroom as I get some drinks and make my way out there.
“I just called my brothers, they will be here by morning to help get started on the land.
“Everyone’s ok with moving?” I ask kind of shocked.
“Well I am the king so what I say goes and I have final decision mind you they all know it’s the best choice and my brothers are very excited to meet you.” He finishes as he moves closer to me and I feel my face heat up once again.

“My sister will probably be home soon with her mate, his brother is staying with us too until the pack house he’s assigned to is finished.” I begin explaining everything that happened in the process of completing the prophecy and he just sits quiet and wide eyed, he seems shocked by what our pack has accomplished.
“By the sounds of it your Luna really relies on the women of the pack.” He says almost to himself and I cock my head at him.

“Yes? Was that a question.” I ask back confused.
“No sorry, how does he handle that? Just sitting back and allowing the women to make decisions for his pack?” He says and I feel offended, I don’t think he meant to but it definitely did.
“Well Valerie and Even have known each other since they were kids and he trusts her with his life, they are more like siblings, the last beta couple cut the Luna’s babies out and tried to kidnap them so I guess he just feels safer having his best friend and basically sister stepping in when needed. Our pack runs on cooperation and trust, Evan gives us jobs because he trusts us to do them the way he would want and to complete them without complication” I say as Linus’s mouth drops.

“And he doesn’t just sit back, the Luna fights along side his members and he’s always the first one in to battle, he relies on the girls because we are a team. You wonder why our pack is made up of vampires and wolves and other species it’s because our Alpha isn’t intimidated easily and is secure in his position and the way he leads. We don’t follow him because we have to, we are honoured to be apart of this pack and we follow him because we want to, wolves travel from all over to join our pack.” I finish feeling annoyed at the dumb thing this man just said.
“I didn’t mean to insult you, we just do things very differently. He says and I feel my anger start to dissipate.

“I understand, but being in alliance with my Alpha means you will need to adapt your ways, he has taken out so many packs because of the rules they chose to to follow, he has no tolerance for abuse on pack members or women in general.” We spend the next hour talking with one another about our ways and rules of the pack, he seems taken back and thrown off by what I’ve said to him but he needs to understand committing to be apart of the pack means changing your ways. I finally hear the door open as Poppy’s soft voice giggles through the hallway.

“Poppy could you come here for a minute please.” I call out as I hear her small feet come running down the hall.
“Oh who’s this? I didn’t know we had company.” Poppy states as she clings to Killian.
“Poppy this is king Linus. My mate.” Poppy’s mouth drops as a smile quickly spreads across her face.
“You found your mate! And a king!” She screams before jumping on top of me taking me to the ground with her. After a long awkward dinner with my new mate and lots of talking about the new plans we finally all decide to head off to bed.
