chapter 40.

Alisons POV.

“Evan is doing better, he will need a lot of rest and he can’t leave the hospital for a few days.” Doctor Blair states as I nod listening to everything he’s saying.
“He lost a lot of blood and he’s lucky to even be alive, if he didn’t get the transfusion in the field he surly would be dead.” He continues as my mind try’s to drift off and I have to force it to stay alert.

“Valerie exhausted a lot of magic while in battle, she will be ok after lots of rest and she can’t use her magic until she is healed.” He says as we walk passed her room and in to Preston and he smiles setting his jello aside.
“Preston gave blood to the Alpha in the field and needs some rest otherwise he’s fine. No fatalities and everyone is healing according to planned.” Doctor Blair finishes as I nod and he leaves the room.

I go over to sit with Preston as I lay my head on his lap.
“Thank you Preston.” I say calmly holding back my tears as he pets my head leaning down to hug me while laughing.
“Valerie would do anything for Evan, I know I couldn’t let him die if there was something I could do to help.” He states as I feel pride wash off him and fill the air.
“We’re just lucky I was a match seeing as we weren’t born to the same pack.” He says with a nervous chuckle making me crack a smile.

I walk through the hospital checking on everyone before heading out to speak with the warriors that were uninjured, the new hospital is so beautiful and so much more advanced then the small medic centre we once had. I find the warriors all in the banquette hall eating while the cooks rush around refilling trays and plates.

“Can I have everyone’s attention please.” I call out as everyone quiets down turning to watch me while they still eat.
“Alpha Evans will be out for a little while, he will be ok but he needs time to heal.” I say as I hear small gasps from the crowd.
“In his absence Preston and Valerie will be stepping in to help me with daily Alpha duties, to my knowledge you killed all of the membership vampires as well as over 90 hunters. We are unsure of how many more hunters were working with the membership but as it stands right now we seem to be safe.” I say happily as I can’t contain my smile and the crowd begins to cheer.

“When the Alpha is feeling better we will be holding a celebration as the prophecy has been completed, the mermaids will soon return as well as the other supernaturals.” I finish before ducking out letting the warriors all cheer and enjoy their victory. At this point we have gained enough of the other species for it to be considered majority, as word travels and others find out I’m sure they will come and link in as well to be under the protection of Valerie as well as the other species.

We are now one, all allies working to protect one another. We will be able to mingle and allow ourselves to find our mates from other places in the world, opening up so many more options for everyone to find their chosen person. I walk away smiling to myself as I can’t contain my happiness, I’ve been so down lately and honestly it feels like a weight has been lifted off of me.

I grab a plate of food and head up to my room too check on the babies, we are finally in a good place, my family has been dealt with and everything seems to be falling in to place. I can’t wait to meet everyone at the celebration, I step in my room to set my plate down to find Valerie sitting on my bed already eating.
“Good you’re here we can get started.” She states happily as I shake my head.

“Started with what? aren’t you supposed to be resting?” I say taking a seat beside her as I start filling my mouth with food waiting for her to respond.
“Well planing out this years ceremonies.” She says with a laugh as I choke on my food.
“What the hell do you mean?” I ask through my chewing probably looking like some kind of uncivilized animal.
“Well normally we would plan out the ceremonies at the beginning of each year, just the basic get togethers with the other packs. Coming of age, mating ceremonies, Alpha ball, that type stuff. Obviously we end up adding more in through out the year but this just makes it easier because we won’t be rushing if we happen to need one a week apart from an annual one.” She goes on to explain as I nod understanding most on it.

“Ok so what do we need to do?” I ask still stuffing my face as she pulls out a huge calendar tossing it down on the bed making me laugh.
“We do two Alpha balls every year, one in the summer and one in the winter. Basically all the Alpha’s, and I guess species leaders now, get together to talk about training and any issues any of the packs have noticed any new laws they want enforced all that kind of stuff.” She states as if I should just know that, I’ve attended the Alpha ball before but never really had anything to do with planning or knowing what’s going on for that matter. I thought it was just another opportunity to meet your mates.

“We like to hold a mating event every season, not every pack comes each time but it’s open to all packs and species now. Coming of age happens twice a year in spring and fall which is held for all the new found wolves from that year, and we will plan each one out so when the time comes everything just goes smoothly and there’s no rushing.” She continues going on about all the party planing as my eyes become heavy and she finally decides to turn out the lights and crawls in bed with me.

“You’re staying?” I ask softly feeling myself begin to slip away.
“I’ll be staying until the Alpha is back.” She states as she pulls the blankets up.
“What about Preston?” I ask quietly.
“He has a cot set up in the nursery, we decide it’s safer to have on of us in each room. I doubt anything will happen but better safe then sorry.” She finishes and with that my mind slips in to the night as I feel my body float off in to bliss.
