Chapter 24.

Poppys POV.
“Um honestly I don’t think I ever would, I need my sister because we share our magic and the pack is my home. You could always move here? You said it was just you and your brother?” I ask trying to deflect.
“Well I’d have to talk to the membership and see what they think, but it’s always a possibility.” His words make me smile bigger then I ever have before. I never thought of finding my soulmate, it’s always just Pepper and I we’ve had to rely on each other since we were children.

“I would really like to stay in the pack, our Alpha and Luna also don’t let any of the females leave the pack unless there are stipulations in place to keep the women safe.” I say softly looking down, he looks at me weirdly and I know he wants to ask questions.
“Your Alpha and Luna don’t let you leave? Isn’t that a little controlling?” He asks cocking his head t the side.

I take a deep breath before explaining.
“It’s to insure our safety, Alpha Evan is a very strong Alpha and our pack is made up of wolves and witches one of which is a hybrid. Evan takes over other packs that aren’t being run according to wolf law.” I continue explaining how Pepper and I were taken in to Alpha Romeo’s pack and kept as slaves and watch his face turn in pain as I speak.

After telling him how Evan changed after he met the Luna and rescued all of us we talk about what my future plans were before he landed in our pack and he asks about Pepper.
“We need to go and speak with my Alpha, he needs to know you mean no harm.” I say softly unable to peel my eyes off the ground.
“They’re looking for me aren’t they?” He asks softly as I nod.
“Well historically vampires and werewolf’s don’t tend to get along and coming on to pack land without permission is seen as an act of violence.” He says softly as he begins to sit up and pull his pants on.

“No don’t worry about walking I’ll call him here, he’s very understanding and you didn’t know we had extended our land after we took over the bordering pack.” I claim as he hesitantly nods, I give him a small smile before standing to join Pepper in the other room.

“Well?” She asks with her arms crossed as if she’s scolding me like a child.
“Well he’s definitely my soul mate and I will be calling the Alpha in a few moments to come discuss our options.” Her mouth drops as she just stares at me clearly confused as to why I would even consider this.



Evans POV.

Poppy and Pepper have requested I come to their cabin to speak with them, I get up gently kissing Alison before stepping out of the room.

*Valerie, Preston.* I mind link them a few times till I get an answer.
*Valerie I need you to join me for a few moments, Preston while we are out can you please watch the babies and Alison just in case.* I ask as I hear them both agree and I head down to the kitchen to grab a drink when I hear their bedroom door slide open and Valerie comes out wide awake while Preston stumbles out like a zombie, Jesus how do these two manage with complete opposite personalities, I laugh quietly to myself.

“What do you need Alpha?” Valerie’s soft voice chimes gently and I turn to walk down the hall with her following close behind.
“Poppy and Pepper requested a visit and I thought you’d want to come.” I state as she nods quick stepping to keep up with me. We walk through the night as the pack lands are quiet and the lights are all dimmed, we make it to one of the largest forests in our pack lands where the witches cabins are located. I gave the twins and Stella the option of where they wanted to live in the pack and they all said the further in the forest the better so that’s what we did.

Soon we reach the cabin and I can smell something sweet making my wolf rise.
“Whats that feeling Alpha?” Valerie asks softly just above a whisper and I feel my hair stand on end.
“That Valerie is the vampire we’ve been looking for.” I say watching her eyes flick to gold and mine match hers knowing our wolves are in link with each other preparing for anything. We walk in as a growl erupts from me unintentionally, I see Poppy run forward as Pepper stands in the kitchen with her arms crossed.

“Why is he here! Have you been hiding him!” I yell louder then I mean to and my eyes search for the intruder.
“Alpha I’m sorry I can explain but I need you to calm down please.” Her small voice seeps with fear and my wolf backs off knowing he’s scaring our pack member and that wasn’t going to help the situation.
“I found the vampire in the field, I was meditating when he fell unconscious from the sky. I soon realized he’s my soul mate and cloaked his scent to bring him home.” She states looking down to the ground.

“Why did you cloak him?” I ask looking at her sideways.
“I was scared, I didn’t know my soulmate could even be a vampire so I didn’t believe it, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t wrong and let him heal for a bit. I also wanted to speak with him first.” She says softly. I take a step back putting my hand on my forehead, god this is a mess.

“So he is for sure your soul mate?” I ask as she nods her eyes still glued to the floor.
“And what did you talk about?“ I ask unsure of if I want the answer, I mind link Valerie to get Pepper to take her to the vampire to try and tap in to his aura.
“It’s just him and his brother living together, I told him I don’t feel comfortable leaving the pack and that we could talk about him moving here.” She states and I nod softly taking a deep breath.
“This is a lot to take in Poppy, typically vampires don’t get along with the other species. That being said Valerie and I have been working on this project together to help the other species so maybe this could fit in.” I claim as I see her visibly relax.


Valerie’s POV.

My whole being is on edge the second we walk in the door, Anna is spinning circles in my head.
*Get Pepper to show you to the blood sucker.* Evan mind links as he speaks with Poppy, I do what he asks going in to the kitchen to find Pepper. She takes me in to this small back sun room and I see this dark haired man sitting on the couch with gauze wrapped around him, he’s pale and smells sweet. I’ve never met a vampire before.

I sit down in front of him softly as I watch his movements, his eyes look like glass. Shiny and bright we look at each other for a few moments taking in each others features.
“Why are you in our pack?” I ask him while tapping in to my witch side feeling out his answers.
“I was just on my way home, I didn’t realize the land had been claimed, last time I came through it was naked land and I was able to cut my travel down.” He claims as I nod not feeling a change around us indicating he’s telling the truth.

“What are your intentions now that you’re here?” I ask next, I see him shift uncomfortably.
“Well I definitely didn’t expect to find my soul mate here that’s for sure.” He says softly as he snickers. He explains his life with his brother and how he would be open to moving on to the pack lands.
“Can I see your hand please?” I ask as he holds it out to me almost instantly. I take his hand in mine gently closing my eyes and focusing hard on what he has told me about his life, I see images pop up of his brother and him playing as children just outside the city, they look so happy and childish.

I smile listening and watching the images play out as they switch to a big group of vampires in blood red robes all sitting around a round table, I sit watching in confusion as they seem to be discussing the verdict of another member, I pull out of the vision letting go of his hand when I feel a dark feeling shadow us.
“What was that?” I ask quickly.
“That was the vampire membership, they make the rules and control the vampires that are left.” He claims dropping his head.
