26.
Poppy’s POV.

My heart throbs after the Alpha leaves, that went better then I though but I’m still uneasy with what’s happening, I take a deep breath before walking back in to see my mate. He looks up to me softly giving me a small smile that I return before sitting down next to him.
“Your alpha seems nice.” He says while shifting his body side to side.
“He’s been very good to us.” I say putting my head down feeling shy.

Pepper comes walking in with the phone in hand giving it to Killian with a scowl on her face.
“Call your brother and set up the meeting, I don’t want to make the Alpha wait. He’s already taking a huge risk even having you here.” She says in a snarky tone before turning on her heels to leave. I give him a small smile as he takes the phone opening it and dialling the number, I go outside of the room to give him privacy. On the other side of the door I connect in to my witch powers to allow myself to listen in to his conversation, something doesn’t seem quite right and I’m not sure what it is.

“Hey…. Yeah I know I’m sorry I ran in to some trouble.” I hear him say to the man on the other end and I try to push through harder to hear both sides.
“I’m ok, I’m in a wolf pack.” Killing states and I hear the man on the other line shriek.
“No no it’s ok they attacked me and I was injured but my soul mate found me.” Killian tells him calmly and I hear the mans voice lower.

“She wants us to come stay in her pack.” Once again the other man begins yelling and getting upset.
“I’ve spoken with her Alpha and he is fine with us coming.” He tells him calmly and I sit back waiting for them to finish, they talk for a few more moments about the membership and how Alpha Evans offered them protection from the hunters.

I hear his brother laugh at his request when Killian try’s to convince him it’s the best idea, he finally convinces his brother to come out to the pack and speak with the Alpha before going to the membership. They both seem to avoid the higher vampires in the chain as much as they can, I guess it’s the only way they can keep them selves safe when the membership trades species. I’m sure if you step out of line they’ll just hand you over instead of giving you a fair trial. Goddess why are vampires so cruel.

I get lost in my thoughts not realizing he hung up until the door beside where I’m sitting opens making me jump.
“Where you eavesdropping?” He asks with a playful smile and I giggle.
“I was just waiting, to be honest I was lost in my mind for a moment.” I answer feeling my cheeks flush as his eyes pierce in to me and my emotions twist in to a big messy ball inside of me.
“Well I guess we should talk about our predicament.” He claims as I feel my face get even hotter.

“Yes, we have a lot of things to sort out, did your brother agree?” I ask acting as if I didn’t hear.
“He’ll be here by morning he wants to speak with your Alpha first before going to the membership, honestly I think he may just want to flee from the vampire membership all together, they all think what they are doing is fine and I don’t think they will take the offer your Alpha is giving them. Which I think is stupid but they are all so conformed to their ways…” He trails off and I know he’s struggling with his words.

“That’s ok we will all talk with the Alpha and come up with a plan.” I say as he smiles taking my hand in his causing sparks to spread quickly across my skin.
“Your sister doesn’t seem to like me much.” He states looking down and I feel shame wash off him.
“She’ll come around, she just really doesn’t like new people. We’ve been through a lot and any new man makes her on edge.” I say trying to reassure him.
“Come on it’s late and we should get to bed, I’ll show you to your room.” I say when he cocks his head to the side.

“We’re not sleeping together?” He asks in confusion making me giggle.
“My sister and I have always slept together and I don’t think I’m quite ready to give that up yet.” I say softly looking down as he gently nods. I take him upstairs and show him to the room across from mine and Peppers.
“The bathroom is down the hall and I guess I will see you in the morning.” I say as he nods and I turn to head to bed.

I find Pepper already dressed in her night gown sitting on the edge of the bed putting lavender cream on.
“Theres no way this can turn out good for any of us.” She claims in a dull tone making me glare at her.
“It will be fine, the Alpha is on board and anyways they have some plan to help Valerie complete the prophecy or what ever.” I say flicking my hand beside me dismissing the comment as she scoffs.
“And what happens when the vampires retaliate or deny the offer our Alpha gives them? They are ruthless Poppy and now your soul mate is one! I can’t even imagine how this will turn out.” She exclaims and I feel stress and worry come flying off of her.
“It will be ok, I promise. I will need to start staying in my own room with him soon.” I say sadly when I see tears prick behind her eyes.

“I know.” Her small voice cracks and we both lay down turning our bedside lamps off before rolling over to go to sleep. She’s right we really don’t know what is going to happen, the only thing we really know about vampires is that they are malicious and bloodthirsty. My mate doesn’t seem like that though so I don’t know what to believe. I look over to Pepper sleeping soundly as her breath is now even, we’ve spent every night of our lives together. She is the person I seek safety in and she is half of my heart, she is my home.

Every night since we were taken from our parents we have spent together, in alpha Romeo’s pack we were given a tiny cot inside a storage room we had to share. I think it will be weird sleeping without her but for her it must be so much stranger, she will now be sleeping alone at least until she finds her mate. I slowly drift off to the thoughts of my mate as my mind argues me to go to him.

Valeries POV.

Well. I guess we no longer have to hunt the vampire down, maybe this will be an easy way in to their membership. Once I can link them in to my power it will be another species added. I get lost in my own thoughts as I take my clothes off getting ready to get back in to bed, I didn’t even notice that Preston was talking to me.
“Valerie? Are you ok?” He asks making me jump as I pull my night gown over my head.
“Yeah sorry I was just thinking.” I claim making him chuckle.
“Thinking about what little wolf?” He asks while walking up to me.
“Just the prophecy.” I say looking down as I play with the silk and lace trim at the bottom of my clothes.

“It’s ok, we’re getting there slowly and so far we are doing really good.” He says trying to reassure me when I feel his hands on either side of my arms.
“I just have a weird feeling like I’m not finished, I don’t know how to explain it. I think something is coming, we have another challenge to face before this will be all over.” I say as he takes me in to his arms pulling me in to him, I exhale deeply feeling the stress pour out of me. We get in to bed as he wraps his body around mine protecting me in a perfect safe blanket as we gently fall in to bliss.
