Book 2: Chapter 32
***Chapter 32***
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon as the girls and I were lounging around with each other. We didn't have a plan for anything to do in particular. We were simply hanging out until something interesting happened. It was Sunday, nothing exciting ever happened on a Sunday.
Regardless, it was nice having company other than Jay or Cyrus. That is until Twila got a text on her phone. She immediately perked up and without much explanation got up to say she was leaving. It was weird since she never just upped and left like that before. Wherever she was going had to be important right?
"Okay, I'll see you guys later. I have to be somewhere right now," she said hugging us all.
There was no explanation about who she was going to see or where she had to be. Twila kept that information concealed confusing the hell out of Bradyn and me. The only one to seem to know what was going on was Kira. She didn't look too happy either making us question what was happening. What she would say didn't surprise me but the disappointment was there.
Kira groaned frustrated by what was happening around her. Bradyn and I look on concerned. Kira hasn't shown much emotion to anything except all the fun stuff. This time she truly looked distraught about Twila leaving.
"Kira, what's going on?" Bradyn spoke up first.
Kira looked between us with the saddest of eyes. "If you haven't heard, Twila and I are taking sort of a break," she said.
We both gasped shocked by this news. "What why?" I asked completely confused.
"You guys were made for each other!" Bradyn added.
Kira sighed. "I thought so too but someone is still stuck on their ex."
When she said that it all clicked for me. I knew once Twila found out about Sienna being jealous that she would spring into action. I am happy she told Kira about it first but the last thing we both expected was for Kira to not be open to the ideal. She seemed to be more flexible about things but maybe that was too much for her.
It would be hard to share someone you want to create memories with. Especially with someone like an ex-girlfriend. Twila and Sienna have known each other for years. It would be impossible for Kira to compete with something like that. If I were in her shoes I would opt for a break instead as well.
"Wait, is she going with Sienna now?" I asked astounded.
Kira nods as a tear threatened to slip out of her eyes. "What am I even supposed to do? On one hand, we weren't officially dating but on the other, it feels like such a slap in the face." She started getting emotional.
Bradyn didn't hesitate to go over and hug her while I grabbed some tissues. What she was feeling was valid. I told Twila it wasn't a good idea to do anything like this. Of course, I can't control the decisions she chooses to make. However, the choice should have been obvious given the fact that Sienna gave up on them last year in front of everyone. That had to be an eye-opener for her.
Alas, it wasn't and Twila was on the way to possibly get her heart broken again. The only reason my situation is working is that one of them is oblivious to everything. Sneaking around wouldn't have made it better for her, but she had to have known Kira wouldn't be happy about any of this. To think Twila liked Kira a lot yet she's agreeing to see Sienna. It was bullshit.
"You have every right to feel that way," I say confidently. "When did this even happen?"
"Yesterday while you guys went out to look for furniture for Jay," Kira said wiping her tears.
Bradyn frowned. "We are giving that girl an intervention ASAP!"
I agreed. "Oh yeah, don't you worry Kira. We're going to give her a good talking to." We both hug her. "In the meantime let's forget about that and do something more relaxing."
That was just what Bradyn needed to hear as she made us go down to the kitchen. At first, I thought it was a bad idea. But with a little convincing, it turned out to be fun. The mess we made was not but the guacamole masks felt so good on the skin. We even made some chamomile tea to help soothe and release any stress Kira may be feeling. The important thing was that she was feeling happy afterward.
Twila didn't come back for who knows how long. Bradyn and I decided to catch her tomorrow so we could talk some sense into her. Unfortunately, I had to go ask my mom a very important question regarding the gift I was going to make for Jay. I haven't the slightest clue where to begin the process. However, I'm sure my mom knew what to do.
Knocking on her door, she quickly opened it elated to let me in. Jeremy was there with her taking a much need break. His break consuming of reading some books he found interesting. The only person missing was Summer but I assumed she was off with Saida somewhere.
"Autumn, it's been so long since I've seen you missy. It's nice to know you're alive," my mom eyed me.
I scratched the back of my neck feeling bad I haven't come to do anything with her since being here. "Sorry, you kind of get swept up in the life of Sunbury when you get here," I apologized in my way.
My mom was always understanding though and didn't mind. "Don't worry, I know my little girl is all grown up now," she gushed the way moms always do. "What brings you by today?"
"Well, I just found out that Jay's birthday is on Wednesday. I know horrible girlfriend," I said. "But I was thinking of making him something. More like crocheting him something."
Jeremy looked my way. "Crocheting?" He asked.
"Girlfriend?" Of course, my mom picked up on that.
I chuckled nervously. "Right, you're daughter has her first real boyfriend surprise!"
This was supposed to be kept secret but it's my mom and Jeremy. They wouldn't tell a soul. Plus it's my mother. I would think she would want to know who I'm dating and when. Lucky for her it was Jason somebody she already knew about and liked. Now that they know though we were going to have to go on a family dinner at some point. Even inviting Clara and Derrick to see how everyone gets along.
In the meantime, my mom let out a shrill excitement once she heard the news. I'm unsure of which boy she wanted me to end up with, but rest assured it was a lot more complicated than that. Everything was always a lot more complicated with me involved.
My mom hugged me so tightly excited. "When did this happen? Does this mean you've given up on Cyrus?" So many questions.
I shook my head. "Not exactly, see Jay and I are secretly dating meaning don't say anything please," I had to make that clear. "But I'm also kind of involved with Cyrus still..."
Jeremy gave me a concerned look. "Autumn, you know what happened last time you did this." He said not thrilled about hearing that.
"I know and I know the risk of being heartbroken again. But I'm fully prepared for whatever happens." I reassured him.
He didn't look too convinced but let it go. "Walk me back to this crocheting thing."
The plan was to crochet something meaningful to homage to his mom. Since it was one of her favorite hobbies, I figured seeing something like it he'll love it. The only problem was I didn't know the first thing about knitting let alone crocheting. Anything that would be made won't be perfect, but he'll love it either way.
That's where my mom comes in. At least that's where she would've come in but Jeremy stepped up to the plate instead. I should've guessed that Jeremy would be the one able to help me. There were so many qualities to this guy. My mom truly lucked out.
Jeremy having watched Jay practically grow up suggested that we make a blanket. He was going to show me the basic construction of it. While he did the more intricate pieces of it. Then after the blanket, I was going to find him a chain to match my locket. From my time knowing Jay he hasn't worn much jewelry, but he'll wear this simply because I got it for him.
Even though at first I had no idea about his birthday beforehand; I was excited now. His gift was coming from the heart. One is made and another is purchased. They both held meaning and I hope he loved them just as much as I would. Jeremy was the best for helping me out. The only thing left for me to do was shop for the chain.
"Thank you, thank you Jeremy you're the best!" I hug him giddy.
He laughed happy to help me in any way he could. "Of course darling. You know I could use your help with something as well."
That caught my attention. "Oh yeah, like what?"
"Ehh, I'll tell you when we don't have ears listening," he whispered looking in my mother's direction.
He was planning something he didn't want my mom to know, but Jeremy has been lovely to her. What more could he possibly want to give her next?
