Book 2: Chapter 42

***Chapter 42***

I woke up now in the bed with a cool breeze accompanying me. That sleep was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The fresh air coming in definitely made a difference. I don’t remember coming into the bed last night, though. I’m thinking Cyrus had something to do with that part. I’m glad he did too.

Speaking of Cyrus, I sat up, looking over to see him sitting at the table. He had his laptop out and looked rather dashing without a shirt on. I couldn’t help but smile as my eyes fixated on him. I assume he was busy doing some work, but my eyes also spotted the breakfast that was on the table. Being the gracious girl that I am, I walked over to Cyrus, leaning down to kiss his cheek. Then I sat myself on the opposite side to pour myself a cup of coffee.

Cyrus smiled at me, typing away on the laptop. “Good morning, gorgeous,” he said, happy to see me.

I smiled. “Good morning, Cyrus. What are you doing over there?” I was always asking him questions.

“Just sending my dad a work update real quick.” He says super focused.

That made sense to me. “What do you guys do, anyway?”

He shrugged. “Boring stakeholder crap. A lot of financing…it’s a real boring job.” We laugh.

Cyrus never told me what he wanted to do for himself. He was thrust into this life his parents had pre-planned for him. There wasn’t anything wrong with that since they set him up for life. He still should be in a career he truly wanted. From the sounds of it, this job lacked anything thrilling, and he was doing it because he had to. His family was well off enough that he could afford college without paying loans. It’s never too late to start, but Cyrus didn’t seem interested in that either.

“Why don’t you do something you love?” I’m always asking him questions, but he never minded.

That wasn’t something he could answer, though. “Honestly, I don’t know. I never thought about my personal goals since they have destined me for this.”

I pout. “Well, that’s sucky. You have to know something you want to do.” I argued.

Cyrus smiled before closing the laptop. “I want to eat breakfast with you and go out on the town.” He responds with a wink.

That’s not the answer I was looking for, but accepted as we ate our food. Right after, we got dressed a lot more casually today. I wore jeans in what feels like forever with a t-shirt. Cyrus followed my lead, wearing just about the same thing. He let me pick out which watch he would wear and I think I did a good job at it. That was the first time he let me do something like that and I wasn’t complaining.

After taking our sweet time getting dressed, we finally headed out to do some more exploring. Our first stop was in this area where they had a lot of street eats. It was very busy and very popular as many people were here. It was like a mini market, but outside. My eyes couldn’t help but stare as we passed by a macaroon stand. They looked so divine and soft. I couldn’t remember the last time I had one and Cyrus was here to treat me.

Tapping his shoulders, he looks down at me. “Look, look macaroons!” I say excitedly.

He laughs. “Would you like to get some?” He already knew the answer to that dumb question.

“Yes!” I yell, racing over to the stand.

We got 2 each and my mouth couldn’t wait to devour them. As soon as he paid for them, my teeth sunk into one. It was the greatest thing I ate all day, even though that breakfast was good too. This was so much better that I had to eat my second one, too. Cyrus laughed at how much I loved it, but he ate his right along with me. He couldn’t deny their sweet, delectable taste. No one could.

Next, we went to a garden that was huge. Not only was it huge, but it had so many flowers everywhere. Coupled by a fountain and a swarm of big, beautiful butterflies. One of them almost landed in my hand as we walked around for a while. Penshaw was so beautiful that I was sad we were leaving tomorrow. There was so much more we needed to see. It’s impossible to do in 2 days with how big the city is. Though getting away was a great idea. It’s the most relaxed I’ve felt in weeks.

We took pictures with some of the beautiful flowers before making another stop during lunch time. Cyrus had us booked to make our own fresh croissants at this baking center. We had the choice of tea or coffee to choose from for our drinks. I chose tea while Cyrus wanted coffee. It was a lot of steps to making croissants or any kind of baked dough for that matter. I loved every minute. It’s the first time we’ve genuinely had a good time without arguing. Now it was time to wait for the croissants to be done baking.

Refilling his coffee, Cyrus sat next to me with a bright smile on his face. “Have you enjoyed your time so far?” He asked me like his life depended on it.

I smile. “Are you kidding? I’ve had an awesome time. Who knew Penshaw was so beautiful?” I gush.

He chuckled. “I wanted this to be special for us. I’ve realized I have been acting like a jerk lately.”

My smile fades. “You haven’t been a jerk, Cyrus. Just a man of caution.” That made me sip my tea.

“But at what costs?” He wonders. “Sometimes I wish I could be more like Jay with his carefree attitude,” he says.

That made me kind of sad to hear. I get what he was saying, but he didn’t have to be like Jay. They’d be too similar and then I really wouldn’t know who to choose. Jay was definitely a lot more carefree than Cyrus. But Cyrus was so thoughtful and compassionate. Some of his best qualities you can’t get anywhere else. Instead of wishing to be someone else, he should be focused on developing his already great attributes.

I shake my head. “If everyone was the same, the world would be boring.” I argue.

“That’s fair, but you know what I mean, right?” He asks me.

“Yes, but you shouldn’t worry about being carefree. Sometimes you need someone strict to get things done. That’s the type of person you are and I like it. It brings structure to my life I never knew I was missing.” I try to make him feel better about himself.

It’s true though. You’re always going to need that one person who’s going to keep you on top of things. They may not be the most fun, but they’re definitely the most needed. Sure, Cyrus may have a stick up his butt from time to time, but I’d say for good reason. He’s also a part of a family that unfortunately all operate that way. I guess you could say he’s a little more mature than Jay, but they’re both a lot more mature than I. Meaning I had no place to judge.

From the looks of it, my words made him feel better about being who he was. Though he still wished he could not care for at least a moment. This whole trip he hasn’t been worried or stressed about anything. He’s especially not asked me anything related to my relationship with Jay. That’s usually his big concern, and none of that was brought up. I’m happy we’ve been able to enjoy our time without worrying about back home drama. I’d say that’s pretty carefree.

Cyrus agrees with my point. “I hope it’s not weird for me to be insecure about that,” he worries. “It’s easy to tell you things and I’ve been waiting to get that off my chest.”

“The fact that you feel that way makes me happy.” I smiled again. “It doesn’t happen very often, but when you’re vulnerable with me, it’s such a turn on.”

Cyrus’s brow raises. “Oh, is it now?” I should have seen that coming.

There was no getting out of this one now. Chuckling, the sound of our croissants being done saved me. “Thank god,” I say, thrilled to get out of that conversation.

“You’re not out of the woods yet,” he reminds me.

It didn’t matter as long as I was saved now. The croissants smelled delicious and tasted even better. They were so light and buttery. Every bite made my taste buds dance in delight. This idea of his was fantastic. Now I can go home and try to bake this myself. Maybe even add it to the menu at my bakery. It’ll be a stand out if I make them just right.

After, we had plenty left over that we took back to the villa with us for later. Before heading back to the villa for the night, we stopped at a couple of gift shops. Cyrus was seriously trying to buy me more stuff that I didn’t need. Specifically, another bracelet that he already bought me last time. It’s not like I didn’t have it. I simply just did not wear it. I’m sure this had to do with Jay buying me my locket that I do, in fact, wear every day. He wouldn’t admit that, though.

“Why can’t I get this for you?” He asked with that bright smile on his face.

“Because I already have one at home,” I say. The bracelet was nice, but not better than the one I had.

Cyrus scoffed. “You don’t wear it. Maybe you’ll wear this one.” He says.

I cross my arms. “I can literally put the bracelet on when we get back to Sunbury.”

“Ahh, so you have it, but you don’t want to put it on,” he says like he just cracked a code.

There was no code to be cracked. The only reason I didn’t wear it was because we didn’t know where our relationship was going. We were stuck in limbo, if you will. The bracelet held a lot of value to me, but it just didn’t feel right to wear it. It’s nothing against Cyrus and there’s no one piece of jewelry I like more. We just don’t know where our relationship is going at this point in time. I don’t see the need to wear it.

Sighing, “Please don’t get it,” I plead.

“Give me one good reason,” he was not letting up.

I thought for a moment before answering. “Because I have a perfectly nice bracelet at home, and I’m sorry for not wearing it as much.” I apologize. “It’s just…we don’t know where our relationship is headed and it holds a lot of sentimental value to me.”

He listened to my reasoning with a change in his demeanor. “I didn’t think about that. You could’ve told me sooner,” he says, putting the bracelet back. “I just thought you didn’t like it anymore.”

I giggle. “I love it. It’s a gift from you that’s irreplaceable.” I smile at him.

He smiles back, seeming to appreciate my words. It wouldn’t hurt to wear the thing once we got back home. Regardless of where things end up, it’s the least I could do for him. In the end, the one that was going to cause him a world of heartache would be me. Even worse than Kameron did since Jay and I have a relationship. Cyrus was going to lose everything dear to him in one swift motion. Wearing a bracelet shouldn’t be that hard for me to do.

Putting that behind us, we headed back to our villa after a little more sightseeing. It was getting late, and I wanted to enjoy our time together in this beautiful city. Things wouldn’t be taken too far, but I at least wanted to do a little something. With the amount of alone time we have, it made sense to have a bit of fun. Besides, Cyrus would love every minute.

Once we were inside, we separated for a moment. Cyrus sat at the table looking over the room service menu for dinner. While I sat back on the bed looking at him in awe. He took his shirt off the moment we got in the room from how hot it was outside. Of course, my eyes couldn’t help but wonder up and down his immaculate body. I said we wouldn’t do anything and we wouldn’t, but I couldn’t resist the urge to feel him against me.

Walking over to him, Cyrus had no clue what I was doing as he smiled at me. “I’m not sure what you wanted to get, but it all looks so-”

I cut him off by taking the menu out of his hand and placing myself in his lap. He looked at me, confused but amused at the same time. My hands rub against his chest as he holds me in place. Still oblivious to what’s happening, I connect my lips to his chest and trail them upward to his neck.

Cyrus chuckled at my nonsense. “Don’t leave any marks,” he cooed.

As much as I didn’t want to laugh, I did anyway. “Don’t ruin the moment,” I say before going back to what I was doing.

After a while, Cyrus grabs my hair gently to lift my face up to his before kissing me lightly. I reciprocate the feeling, slipping my tongue into his mouth. He seemed to like that as he smiled, colliding his tongue with mine. Before I knew it, he was lifting me up over to the bed. Our lips never parted until he started trailing them down my neck this time.
Every kiss sent a chill throughout my body, as he was delicate with me. His hands cup my breast as I let out a soft moan. Not being able to contain myself for long, I move my hands down to Cyrus’s pants. Unbuckling them, my hand slipped inside to grab his member before stroking it slightly. He loved it, groaning up against my skin as he kissed it.

To take this moment even further, Cyrus slipped his fingers in my pants before putting them inside of me. His light motion making me whimper. We both picked up the pace on one another as our cries filled the room. Smirking at one another, it became a race to see who would release first. I wanted to hold out, but unfortunately, I was the loser as my legs pulsated against him. It didn’t stop me from helping him finish as he grabbed at my waist, saying fuck repeatedly.

It wasn’t as passionate as with Jay, but just as fun. We didn’t need to go the extra mile to please one another, and that’s what I liked about us. It was simple, yet satisfying in every way. Though, left a bit of a mess. Cyrus didn’t mind as he kissed me once more before cuddling on top of me.
I run my fingers through his hair, smiling to myself. “You’re amazing,” I compliment him.

His eyes shoot up at me with the brightest smile. “That title belongs to you.” He nuzzled my nose the way he does. “What changed your mind? You’ve been adamant about not going too far.”

I shrug. “We’re in such a romantic place without a worry of getting caught. I couldn’t help myself.” I explain. “Especially not when you look like that.”

He laughed before squeezing me again. “I’d say we definitely made Penshaw a memorable trip,” he winks at me.

“It’s one for the books,” I smile, going in for another kiss before we washed up.

We haven’t had a trip like this in so long. It was definitely one I wouldn’t forget. But all good things don’t last forever.
