Book 2: Chapter 35

**Chapter 35**

There was another rainy day as Jay and I were sat in the living room. He wanted to cuddle up in his blanket in front of his fireplace. It was chilly inside the house today due to the weather being quite gloomy. We both had on our hoodies with matching pajama pants. There was a movie playing in the background while we munched on some chocolate we put in the bowl. Jay had one of his arms around me, making me feel snug and warm. I must admit, this blanket was such a good idea. If only there were matching pillows.

Nonetheless, despite us not doing much, it was great getting to relax after the fun day we had yesterday. The party will be a day to remember, but now that we were a couple, being alone would always be something we would prefer. Especially since we had to hide everything we were doing. It gave us time to bond more as a couple in the privacy of his home.

Speaking of bonding, Jay was very much focused on the movie, while I wanted to do anything but that. I know he said he wanted things to be special, but it’s been quite hard to ignore the feelings of lust anytime I was around him. We were in this perfect setting with this beautifully crafted blanket that my emotions couldn’t contain themselves. Plus, Jay was always pleasing to the eye no matter what he wore. I could see why Kameron was gunning for him. Sadly, Jay was as stubborn as a mule.

Setting the bowl aside, I slid myself onto Jay’s lap as he looked at me with a smirk on his face. He was confused but didn’t push me off of him. Instead, his hands grasp at my waist as my fingers ran through his beautiful curls. Slowly, I pressed my lips against his, trying to gauge his response. His hands moved up my back, pulling me in closer to him. Our tongues danced together, grinding against one another. I thought for sure I was going to get somewhere, but Jay stopped us before it could progress any further.

“Autumn, we can’t,” he said through kisses. He was sticking to his word. I hated it.

Pouting, my hands grasped at his hoodie, wanting to take it off. “Come on, Jay. We can still have our special moment,” I say. “Can’t we have a little fun now?”

He looked at me, contemplating. “You don’t know how badly I want to, A.” That was never good. “But trust me, the wait will be worth it.”

That was not the answer I was hoping for. I understand wanting to make it special, but dammit my needs were eating me up inside. All I wanted was to feel him dominate me the only way he knows how. It’s been a year since we’ve been intimate like that with one another. The kissing was great, but I was starting to want more. It's piggish of me, but if anyone saw the way Jay looked, they’ll understand my frustration. He wasn’t exactly someone you could control yourself around.

Regardless, he was very adamant about this. There was no budging on his part no matter how much I pleaded. Though I loved what we had together and everything we did; it was the perfect time to take things back to that next level. I would make sure he wouldn’t regret it that’s for sure.

Sighing, I pushed a strand of hair behind my ear, sort of frustrated. “Why is it so important for us to wait?” I questioned.

Jay chuckled. “I told you already, I don’t want mindless sex with you,” he said.

“Okay, but we can have mindless sex and special sex later,” I try to compromise, but he wasn’t buying what I was selling.

He laughed again, amused by my begging. “Somebody is desperate.” He joked.

My mouth fell open at his words. “I don’t want it anymore,” I say, trying to get out of his lap.

He pulled me back down with that smirk on his face. “Who said you could move?” He questioned.

Despite him telling me he wanted to wait, I could see the lust welling in his eyes. It had to be hard for him as well, but he still wouldn’t make the move. The restraint he possessed was impressive. Any other guy would have caved by now, but Jay stayed as strong as he could. Though, that friend of his was telling a completely different story. I felt why he didn’t want me to move and it made me want him even more. This was such a tease.

Since he wanted to play games with me, I decided to play a bit back. He wouldn’t give me what I wanted, so I figured messing with him a bit wouldn’t hurt anyone. Gradually, I grind my hips again, looking him in his eyes. Jay’s eyes roll in the back of his head as he moves along with me.

“Autumn, stop it,” he begged.

I giggle, not listening to a word he was saying. Instead, I continue my motion while leaving kisses all over his neck. It was hard with the hoodie in the way, but I made it work. Hearing him groan was music to my ears as he squeezed my waist even tighter. Jay didn’t want me to stop, but of course, he took control of the situation, catching me off guard. Before I knew it, I was being lifted over his shoulders as he spun me around to get me to stop. The way he was able to lift me while standing always surprised me. I forget how strong he could be because of how gentle he usually is. It mainly surprised me because I hate that my plan didn’t work.

Luckily, things didn’t go any further because it would have ended badly. As Jay continued to spin me around, we heard the front door open. Stopping, I was staring in the direction of where the opening was, only to be greeted by Cyrus walking into the living room. He looked confused about what was happening, but slightly amused as well. However, Jay and I both felt panicked, forgetting that Cyrus could stop by any time he wanted. This could have ended so differently than it did.

“Cyrus?” I say, still over Jay’s shoulder.

Hearing that made Jay turn around, still holding me. “Hey, Cyrus what are you doing here?” Jay questioned before dropping me on the couch.

“I came to hang out since it’s horrible outside, but seems you two are busy,” he said, trying not to sound worried.

I walk over to them, ruffling Jay’s hair before shoving his head playfully. He smiled slightly at me before composing himself. “Not really, he was trying to prove a point and failed.” I crossed my arms.

Cyrus looked at us both, running scenarios through his head. I’m positive there wasn’t anything he saw before Jay lifted me over his shoulders. Otherwise, his attitude would be completely different. Though he still didn’t look too happy, he ended up letting it go. It’s been a while since we’ve all three hung out together. Things didn’t feel awkward as long as we didn’t let it. This wasn’t the most fun we could be having right now, but Cyrus was down for watching movies and indulging in snacks.

Jay put the blanket up as we all sat on the couch to watch some more movies. It was fun laughing and getting scared together. The boy's friendship is something anyone would love to witness. The way they get each other is out of this world. You don’t get those types of friendships out of thin air. My heart wished we could stay right here, like this forever. At some point, Cyrus was going to find out about our misgivings, but for now, this was great.

After hours of watching the television, my neck started to ache with the way we had to look up at the tv. Though, I should have kept my thoughts to myself because my big mouth made that awkwardness consume the room.

“I could use a massage right now,” I say as I rub my neck in pain.

“Here, let me see it,” they both say in unison before looking at each other. Cyrus looked on perplexed.

I should have guessed they would both volunteer to make me feel better. Cyrus wouldn’t have expected Jay to do so, but he did. This is where Jay and I needed to be more careful with our words. One wrong thing said and it would be over for the both of us. If Cyrus found anything he wasn’t supposed to, it would not bode well for either of us. Luckily, Jay is smart and hands over the reigns to Cyrus. I’m sure that’s probably not what he wanted to do, but what was needed to get by.

That depleted all the momentum we had going on from earlier, leaving Jay to excuse himself to the bathroom. Now it was Cyrus and I alone. It seemed like every time he and I were together, we would argue. It was nothing like last year when we could enjoy ourselves. The whole point of us starting over was to get back to where we were last year. Now, every time it feels like we were always starting from scratch. I only have myself to blame for that as I’ve been deceiving him.

Licking his lips, Cyrus got this soft smile on his face like he’s been waiting to tell me this all day. After this whole debacle, I don’t see why he would even want to take me anywhere. But it has been quite a minute since we’ve done something fun without all the drama. Though, Penshaw wasn’t exactly what I was expecting him to say.

“Hey, so I was thinking the day after you do the dress shopping this weekend; would you like to go somewhere with me for a couple of days?” Cyrus looked at me with a soft smile.

I turn toward him, shocked he would even ask me such a thing. “You want to go somewhere, with me?” I was stunned.

He nodded with a slight chuckle. “We are supposed to be spending time with one another,” he says. “And I have sort of been dropping the ball when it comes to planning things lately.”

This time I giggle. “Well, we haven’t been very nice to one another lately either,” I remind him.

He nodded in agreement. It’s not that we haven’t been nice. More like we’ve just been arguing a lot more than we should have been. Even though he didn’t want to, Cyrus was getting married. These two months should have been a happy time for him. Instead, he’s been fighting with me because he thinks I’m seeing his best friend. Which is true, but he doesn’t know that yet. Maybe getting away for a couple of days would do us some good. We could finally get back on track the way we should be.

“Exactly, which is why I made sure this will be fun.” He said.

I raised a brow, interested in what he had planned. “Where did you want to go?”

“I was thinking about going back to Penshaw,” he responds.

Laughing, I focus all my attention on him. “But we’ve already been to Penshaw,” I remind him.

He lifted his finger. “Correction, we’ve been to a restaurant.” He said. “We haven’t explored the city.”

His point was valid there. Penshaw Heights was a beautiful place and it would be fun to experience the city as a whole with Cyrus for a couple of days. Though, wouldn’t his being away raise suspicions among his family? Especially with Farah and Jenna as Farah already pre-warned me to stay away from Cyrus. It was a ballsy move on his part, but Cyrus didn’t seem to care all too much. It was only I that should have been worried. As much as Farah needed me, that would not stop her from outing my secret to her son. Anything to make him not be in love with me anymore.

I nod in agreement with his plan. “You know I like to go anywhere with you,” I began to say. “And anything that’ll help our relationship is good in my book. However, shouldn’t you be worried about your mom finding out?” I couldn’t help but ask.

Cyrus scoffed. “I already got that covered thanks to my dad,” he said, shocking me.

My eyes widened in surprise. “Wait, your dad knows?” I asked, confused.

He chuckled. “We can talk about that more when we’re alone. In the meantime, is that a yes from you?” He queried.

Honestly, as much as I had to lose agreeing to this, I also had a lot to gain. Spending quality time with Cyrus is just what we both needed to get back on the right track. The deal was risky on my part, but when could I ever turn him down? The only other problem was how Jay would feel about it. He’s usually cool about this stuff, but this wasn’t a simple date. It was a whole getaway to Penshaw for crying out loud! Whatever the case, I’m happy to indulge Cyrus and all his crazy ideas.

“Let’s go to Penshaw.”
