Chapter 14
Chapter 14
The days this week were going by super slow. So slow that I was up at five the next morning trying to figure out what to do with myself. It's been fun getting to hang around here, but holy hell was it getting boring quickly. I have done all my morning routine already. Showering, brushing my teeth, washing my face, and fixing my hair. Now I was alone scrolling through the tv channels. Everyone else was still sleeping, surprisingly. Usually, they were the ones waking me up not the other way around. I still didn't get the hype of waking up so early. This was torture.
Before I could give up and force myself back to sleep, there was a knock on my door. Who could be knocking on my door this early? The time being almost six, I thought I was the only one up. Not that it mattered. Having someone else to talk to would be great right now. Though I wasn't counting on talking to Cyrus who was at my door.
He smiled at me when I opened it. Surprised that I was awake, I let him in making sure to lock all the doors to my room. I didn't want the girls walking in and seeing him. Cyrus knew that and still decided to show up here. This was not a safe space to sneak around in.
Sitting on my bed, he smiled at me happy to see me. It was great to see him too since he was the only other person up. Also, was it really a day if Cyrus wasn't bugging me? No, I don't think so.
"Hey gorgeous." He complimented me like always. "I'm surprised you're up this early."
I rolled my eyes sitting next to him. "What do you want, Cyrus?" I questioned him because I knew he was here for a reason.
Cyrus chuckled knowing I was catching his bluff. "Honestly, I just wanted to see you." He smiled to himself.
I'm not sure I'll ever be used to someone telling me that they wanted to see me. When you don't get that at home it's foreign to receive it elsewhere. It wasn't clear what our relationship was now. It was very much in that awkward stage of still getting to know each other. Nonetheless, we were having fun and that's all that mattered.
That being flattering and everything, there was more to the story of him being here. Of course, I believed that he did want to see me. That's been his thing like the whole time I've been here. However, this wasn't the usual time he wanted to meet me at. It was early in the morning. Most of our behind-the-scenes meetings took place late at night. This was new.
"Ok, so why are you really here?" I asked him jokingly.
Laughing, he sighed running his fingers through his hair. "Alright, well miss know it all, I came to invite you to a party tonight." He smirked.
My eyes widened. A party? I love parties! I'm not sure how they party being that they're rich and all. However, I never turned down a high school party before. Those wouldn't even compare to this kind of party I'm sure of it! The fact that he came to personally invite me was cool too. But how were we supposed to pull this off? Wouldn't that be breaking more rules than we're already breaking? What about the other girls?
"A party? That sounds exciting!" I said happily thrilled by his invitation.
Cyrus nodded excitedly as well. "Yeah, it's my friend Jason's party."
Ah Jason, the lovely person I met last Saturday. He looked like he would be the one to throw a wild party. That alone made it sound even better than it first did. It was just my curiosity to figure out his relationship he had with Jason getting the best of me. This was his best friend. His one and only that he mentioned that first time we got caught. What better way to get to know a guy than going through his best friend?
I gave him a little smirk of my own. "Ohh, your best friend huh?" I questioned him showing my interest.
"Alright don't be a weirdo but yes him." He laughed, "I'm inviting the other girls too so don't think you can just be alone with me."
I pouted. "Aww whatever will I do without my dear and precious Cyrus?" I caused him to laugh again. "But seriously, that's actually smart."
He agreed standing up. "Don't worry, I'll find time to pull you to the side for myself."
"Mm, I don't know I think I want some time alone with Jason."
And with that it looked like his world shattered. The way his face dropped was priceless. I was only joking but it was funny how quickly he turned to look back at me. I'm guessing to see if I was serious or not. The way I was cackling told him otherwise making for a beautiful moment. Something I'll personally never forget.
Rolling his eyes, he crossed his arms frowning at my laughing. "You're such a bitch." He simply said throwing one of the pillows off the bed at me.
Seeing this as war, I threw it right back in his face and all hell broke loose from there. We kept going back and forth until we were slamming pillows into each other. The laughter filling the room was a little risky being that my room was connected to two others. If they heard us in here goofing around who knows what they would do. Part of me was worried but the other part of me loved having a fun time with him. Did it matter if we got caught? I mean...yes, I'm getting too ahead of myself.
Still laughing, he finally threw the pillow down dragging me down on the bed with him. Our faces were inches apart and I couldn't help looking into his eyes as the sun shone in them. Making them look like pools of delicious honey. We controlled our laughing just staring at each other for what felt like ages. Acting like children for a little bit was fun but being like this felt better. No awkwardness, no worries, just being. I can't remember the last time where I could just be with someone. This was perfect.
Not getting too carried away, I sat up breaking eye contact with him. Though it was a nice feeling, I wasn't prepared to get sucked in like that just yet. We were still in the get to know each other stage. We didn't need to move any faster than that. Cyrus would love it if I broke my walls but not yet.
I cleared my throat pulling myself together to smile at him once more. "So, Jason, you trust him?" It was random but I couldn't stop myself from asking.
He sat up as well nodding his head. "That is my best friend. The only person who hasn't needed anything from me." He explained.
"What do you mean?" What can I say? I like to pry.
"Like I knew the moment we started becoming close that it wasn't because of my parents. Or his parents trying to get to my parents. It was because we had things in common, ya know?" He spoke so passionately. "Jay, that's what I call him, was my friend because he wanted to be. Simple as that."
It made complete sense. That's how I felt when Twila and Bradyn spoke to me. They didn't look at it as me being poor and useless. They were my friends because they wanted to be my friends. Social status aside, they treated me as one of them. Regardless of how everyone else here perceived me. Their opinions formed on their own and that's why I know even after this is over; we'll still be close friends. The life Cyrus lives must have been hard growing up. At least he had one loyal friend. And a good one as he's making it seem.
I smiled happy to hear him talk so proudly of his friend. More like brother from another mother. Besides, if they're friends, I'm sure Jason comes from a pretty wealthy family of his own. What would he need from Cyrus' parents other than a little extra influence? Sure, he comes across as a huge flirt but still a genuinely good person. Going to this party was going to be quite interesting.
Looking at me, he raised his brow with curiosity written on his face. "Apart from yours truly, how has your time been here?" Overconfident much.
I shrugged. "It's been...fun for the most part." There was no way I was telling him anything his mom said to me. "Twila and Bradyn are like my best friends here. Jenna doesn't like me but Eh, who cares."
"You know if you ever need anything you can ask me, right?" He said leaving me a little confused.
"Well, I do now so thanks."
It was a little confusing trying to figure out what he meant by that. What could I need if everything were already here? Food I could eat whenever I wanted. Drinks that were available to me whenever I wanted. There were many different things and elements to this house that could entertain me in my free time. What else could he bring me? Despite, as he put it, yours truly. The statement was weird leaving me to give him a weird answer.
Standing up once again, he stretched out yawning a little bit in the process. "I have to go now before my mom loses her shit. Don't forget tonight!" He yelled walking towards the door. "Oh yeah, be ready by nine!" He yelled some more.
That would've been useful information to know beforehand. Looking at the clock, I had so much time before nine what was I supposed to do until then?
