Heartbrokenly Defending Annie

Logan
After Giselda ran from the office, I turned Annie around in my arms, loving the way she instantly tried to sink herself into my body. I let my hands drift down her body, groaning when they moved over her softness. She was absolutely perfect and I wanted to do much, much more than just rub on her. I gripped her ass, moving her up my body a little so that I could grind against her core.
“Goddess, Annie! I thought she would never leave.” I picked her up completely, groaning when her legs immediately wrapped around my waist. “I want to make love to you,” I confided huskily. “Right here, right now. I want to put you on my desk and devour you like I’ve been stranded in the middle of the forest for years.”
She giggled a little as I set her down on my desk. “That would make Luge a cannibal.”
Luge uttered a small rumbling growl, making her almost purr as she reached for my belt. “I think I’d like it if you ate me up like a starving man at a buffet.”
I captured her lips with a heated kiss, pouring all of my desire into that single action while she fumbled with my pants. I nudged her legs apart so I could step between them. I pulled my lips away from hers to kiss down her neck as I ground against her core, making us both groan with the friction that quickly started to build a fierce enjoyable pleasure between us. I pulled her forward to the edge of the desk so that I could increase the pressure of my cock on her core.
“Annie,” I moaned.
She wrapped her arms around my neck, gently tugging my head up before kissing me again. When someone started pounding on my office door, I cursed loudly, growling angrily at it.
“WHAT DO YOU WANT?!” I yelled.
“Alpha Logan, can we speak about something?” Ryan called out.
Annie stiffened under my hands, making me even angrier. I loathed that from day one, he had made my alpha sow uncomfortable. She pushed me back a little so she could jump off my desk before quickly fixing my clothes and giving me a timid smile.
“I’m going to go while you speak to him,” she whispered. “When you’re done, come to the room. I might have something for you.”
I groaned as I took her back in my arms. “Now I definitely don’t want you to leave.”
She patted my cheek before kissing my lips softly. “It’s not 6 PM yet, Logan. You’re still on sleuth time. We will have our time a little later and I’ll make it worth your while.”
I sighed as I kissed her deeper before letting her go. “Fine! But I’ll be even hungrier when I get there. So you better be ready,” I warned her.
She shivered excitedly before nodding. “I will be. I promise.”
I watched her walk out of the room, letting Ryan in on her way out. I rushed across the room to slam him against the wall by his throat when he gave her a disgusted look. I leaned down to look into his eyes.
“If you ever look at her like that again, you will never have to worry about speaking with me again. You won’t have a fucking heartbeat to do so. Am I clear?” I growled.
“Yes, A-Alpha Logan.”
I squeezed his throat tighter for a moment before letting him go again. I straightened my shirt before going back to my desk to sit down. I gestured at the chair in front of my desk.
“Sit and speak fast. You interrupted something important,” I hissed.
He clenched his jaw as he slid a folder across the desk to me, making me frown at him. “What is this?” I asked, not bothering to take it.
“It’s information that has come to my attention about your–Alpha Sow Annaria,” he answered smugly.
“What kind of information?” I continued to question.
“An inappropriate relationship that she has.”
I leaned back in my seat, crossing my arms over my chest. “Who is she supposedly involved with in an inappropriate manner?”
“Her half-brother. Gerald.”
I raised an eyebrow at him. “And what makes their relationship inappropriate?”
“They seem like they are a little too close.”
“Meaning?” I snapped. “Stop this short answer game you are playing. Tell me everything that is concerning you so we can get this over with.”
“They have been photographed multiple times, holding hands and just simply being too close for comfort. This is not the way that an Alpha Sow is supposed to act. She is supposed to be demure and innocent and solely for her alpha boar. I, along with several of the other advisors, do not think that Alpha Sow Annaria is fitting for her role in the Havana Sleuth. We think–”
“You think?” I scoffed. “Please do not think that because you were my father’s ‘advisors’ that you have any right to try to pressure me into making decisions where *my* mate is concerned.” I stood up to tower over him. “I do not believe that her past is of any concern to you. I am her mate and I trust her. I know that I am her only. So this,” I spat, grabbing the folder up off my desk before throwing it at his face, “means absolutely fucking nothing to me. Consider your job as an ‘advisor’ is over. If this is the way you are going to be advising me, I’d rather have an army of rogues as my advisors. Don’t question me or her about anything. You don’t know a damn thing about her or our relationship.”
“But Alpha–”
I slammed my hand down on my desk, making him flinch. “NO! YOU WILL NOT DISCUSS THIS BULLSHIT WITH ANYONE ELSE! AND YOU WILL CEASE ANY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS THAT YOU HAVE ABOUT YOUR ALPHA SOW! BETTER YET, YOU WILL STAY AWAY FROM HER! I WILL NOT ALLOW HER TO BE MADE TO FEEL LIKE SHE IS BEING SHUNNED! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!” I yelled.
He lowered his head submissively. “Yes, Alpha Logan. I apologize.”
“Get the fuck out of my office.”
He scurried out of the room while I reached for the other three advisors’ links to dismiss them from service while warning them that they were not to discuss Annie with anyone. After cutting the links, I began to move around the room, picking up the pictures that flew everywhere when I tossed the folder in Ryan’s face. Once they were all gathered, I went back to sit at my desk, slowly looking through all of the pictures while grimacing at each image that depicted my mate gazing up at Gerald with such obvious adoration in her eyes. Every picture that showed them kissing put another dagger in my heart. I frowned as I gathered them all up again before putting them through the shredder that sat beside my desk.
I tapped my fingers on my desk, trying to convince myself again that I was her only one. This doubt had crept up too many times and I was over it. I knew that she had her insecurities, but so did I. This whole thing could easily turn into one big mindfuck and I wasn’t going to be able to handle it if it did. Making up my mind, I climbed to my feet to go talk to her. I didn’t want to keep feeling like this. We needed to talk about how I feel. I needed her to convince me that I was wrong, and there was no reason to doubt her love. Luge made me turn around halfway to our bedroom to jog outside to pluck a single rose off one of the rose bushes that lined the walkway to our front door before sprinting back up to the room, slowing when I heard her speaking.
“It really will be the best of both worlds. We can be in each other’s lives like we were meant to be, and have our mates. Isn’t that what you want?”
I stiffened at her words. Who in the hell was she talking to? I crept closer to the door to hear better, my heart immediately going wildly when she almost whispered, “Are you sure about that?”
My hand clenched around the rose, making the thorns pierce my skin as I opened the door to walk in.
“I–”
“Annie, who are you talking to?” I ground out, almost too angry to speak calmly.
“Gerry and Osprey,” she told me without hesitation.
“Gerry?” I repeated as I opened my link with Osprey.
‘What the fuck, Osprey?! I thought you were going to kill him?’ I asked him, while Annie continued to talk to me, but I was too angry to focus on what she was saying after seeing the pictures and hearing what I heard.
‘None of the women I love wanted him dead. Neither does Giselda. No matter how much he hurt her,’ he responded.
‘I don’t like this. What were they talking about?’
‘She was trying to convince him that he should let her go and be with Giselda. How does Giselda feel about him?’
‘She still loves him but I am not sure if she will ever forgive him,’ I told him. ‘She’s dating Milton and she’s trying really hard to make it work.’
‘But can he really be enough for her?’ He asked, making me groan as I narrowed my eyes on Annie.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about her breaking the promise she made to Giselda. If she could do that to Giselda over something so simple, did it even matter that we were mates and had both committed to each other?
‘I don’t think so, but she’s doing her best to convince herself that he can be,’ he said, bringing me back to our conversation.
“Logan, who are you linking?” Annie murmured as she placed her hand on my arm.
“Osprey. Alpha business?” I responded hesitantly.
“Uh-huh, alpha business,” Annie and Gerald said at the same time, making me even more doubtful about our relationship.
“Annie, I’m sorry. I was just worried. I can tell you have been crying and I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t him that upset you. I am sorry, but I had to be sure,” I lied, not wanting to admit that I only reached out to Osprey to see if they were trying to get back together and that I just hadn’t gotten around to actually asking him.
“You could have just asked me.”
“I know. I just– I don’t know. This whole situation just replays in my head. I worry about it,” I admitted sheepishly, running my fingers through my hair.
“Why?”
“Because I know you are with me but I know what he means to you. I can't help but worry if he came back into your life if you would choose him,” I admitted honestly, trying to follow through on the original reason I had even come to the room.
“Oh, Logan,” she whispered before lowering her phone to end the call. “What’s going on? Talk to me.”
She reached up to grip my face, pulling it down so that our foreheads were pressed against each other. I gripped her waist to pull her against me.
“Ryan brought me pictures.”
“Of what?” She inquired.
“You and Gerald. Kissing and holding hands and stuff,” I mumbled.
Her hands tightened on my face. “I’m sorry you had to see that. I never wanted you to see that. If I could go back and change it, I would, but I can’t. I will never be with him in any type of way that will ever put our relationship at risk. I swear to you, Logan, that you are the only one I want.”
“I hope so, baby, because I don’t want to be without you. I’m so deeply in this with you that I will never find my way out,” I confided.
She kissed me softly before looking into my eyes. “What else happened? Or was that all?”
“He told me that he didn’t think you would make a good alpha sow.”
“And what do you think? Do you think I can be your alpha sow?” She asked.
My hands tightened on her waist. “Yes, Annie, I do. There is no one else I would allow to be my alpha sow. I’d just marry and mark Giselda,” I joked.
She rolled her eyes as a smile curved her lips up. “I think you might have to fight Milton,” she teased.
I picked her up, cupping her ass. “I can take him.”
She giggled as she bounced on the bed when I threw her on it. “I’m sure you can, but I don’t want to have to fight Giselda. So, we gotta come to an agreement.”
I grinned down at her as I tugged my shirt off. “I guess so.”
