Trying To Convince Annie Of His Love
When we got back to the house, Gerry immediately jumped out to rush around to my side to open my door. I handed him the frozen drinks before getting out. As I opened the back door to get the food out, he handed me the two drinks before grabbing all of the food bags. I kissed his cheek before meandering up the stairs to unlock the door for him. I carried the drinks inside before pausing to wait for Gerry. When he walked past me, I kicked the door shut before following him into the living room, where he set the three bags down before coming back over to me to get the drinks. When he stepped back, I saw the excitement in his eyes.
“Is this where you get naked?” He asked eagerly.
I quickly glanced down at my body before shaking my head. “I’m not really feeling like being naked,” I whispered, ashamed that I was feeling self-conscious again after seeing Gerry with that girl.
He studied my face for a moment before coming over to take me in his arms. “Is this about what happened with Katherine, Annie?”
“No,” I instantly denied with my voice wavering slightly.
When his arms tightened around my waist, I knew that he saw straight through my lie. I had never been able to lie well. On the rare chance that I had done so successfully, it was never Gerry that I fooled. He buried his face in my neck, sighing deeply.
“Annaria, you are perfect. Every inch of you is perfect. I wish you would believe me. One of these days, you will stop doubting me, and when that day comes, I promise you I’ll never let you go back to doubting.” He pressed a kiss to my skin before pulling back. “Come on, let’s eat.”
I followed him back to our food, where he set one of the burgers in front of me along with the onion rings, one of the chicken fries, and the blue raspberry frozen drink. Before I could even touch my burger, he unwrapped it and poured my onion rings onto it. Then he opened 6 packets of ketchup before squeezing them into the now empty onion ring container. Lastly, he lifted my top bun to place 3 of the chicken fries on it, just like I always did while I stared at him in awe.
“You remembered,” I said.
He shrugged as he picked up his first burger. “I know you better than I know myself, Annie.”
“Do you?” I asked.
“Absolutely. Test me if you want,” he answered confidently.
“What did I steal from Osprey so you could help me with my homework?” I inquired.
“Jelly beans. I said, ‘Test me, Annie, not quiz me.’”
I giggled before thinking hard about what to ask him. “Alright. Here’s one. At what age was my first meeting with Mother Annaria?”
“3. I know because that was the day I had taken you out to hunt and we got separated by a stampede of deer. When the deer cleared, I couldn’t find you. I remember linking our parents frantically, begging them to help find you. I thought you were injured, taken, or worse. We searched for you for hours. When we finally found you, you had this strange look in your eyes, like you knew things that we didn’t.” I stared at him wide-eyed when he was done speaking until he chuckled as he took another huge bite of his burger. “Am I wrong?”
“No. Just…not even Mom knew.”
He dipped a fry into his frozen coke before popping it into his mouth. “I told you. I’ve always noticed everything about you. The Goddess knew what she was doing when she made you. You are perfect, and I would be a fool not to realize that.”
I couldn’t help the way my heart swelled with happiness at his words. He was so sweet to me. “Gerry…” I whispered.
He leaned forward to kiss me. “I told you, baby. I really do love you.”
“I love you, too,” I repeated back to him, making him smile at me.
“Alright. I’ll be right back,” he told me as he got up.
“Where are you going?”
“To the bathroom, Banannie. Do you want to come hold it for me?” He asked, his eyes glinting at me.
My hands flew up to cover my flaming cheeks. “NO!”
He chuckled as he pecked my lips before jogging out of the room. I heard tires moving over the gravel in our driveway, and I jumped to my feet to go to the door. I pulled it open eagerly to see that it was our new bed and appliances.
“GERRY, OUR STUFF IS…” I started to yell before drifting off as my eyes landed on the wolf from the club.
I swallowed hard as he smiled at me. He sauntered up the stairs to stand in front of me.
“Hey, beautiful. How are you doing?” He asked.
“I-I’m fine,” I stuttered. “GERRY!” I yelled again, slightly panicked.
When I took a step back, Gerry’s arm went around my waist before he placed a kiss on my neck. The wolf frowned at us before tilting his head.
“I thought you were her brother,” he said.
“I-we-ummm…”
“We grew up together but realized when we saw each other in the club that we belonged together,” Gerry finished smoothly for me.
The wolf frowned even deeper as his forehead furrowed. “I see. Would you please show me to the bedrooms where the beds go?”
Gerry pushed me gently toward the living room. “Go finish eating, baby. I’ll be right there after I help them get everything set up.”
I walked back into the living room to do what he told me to do. I know that he was trying to keep me out of view of the movers, which I was fully okay with. I finished eating before he came back, so I laid on the floor, staring up at the ceiling as I waited for them to finish.
“What are you thinking about?” Gerry asked as he walked back into the room about an hour later.
I smiled up at him. “I was thinking about how we would decorate the rest of the house.”
“Decorate it however you want, Annie.”
“Really?” I asked gleefully.
“Yes. The movers are gone,” he said slowly.
“Is everything set up then?”
“Yes. Would you like to see? Not to be selfish or anything, but I really want to take you to bed,” he told me.
I bit my lip nervously, making him groan. “Sorry…”
“Let me take you to bed, Annie.”
I nodded. “Okay.”
“May I pick you up?” He asked softly.
I nodded as I raised my arms up towards him. “Yes, Gerry. You can.”
He gently picked me up off the floor before kissing my lips tenderly. “Are you ready to teach the neighbors my name?” He inquired huskily.
I stared up into his eyes for a moment before answering breathlessly. “Yes.”
