Logan's Appearance

I yelled in frustration at the incessant knocking on my door. It had been continuous even though I screamed at whoever it was several times to go away. I had exams tomorrow, and I needed to study. In silence. I stormed down to the front door as my aura began to bleed out threateningly.
“WHAT?!” I roared as I yanked the door open.
The tall, muscular man that stood on my front stoop raised an eyebrow smugly at me, his anger very apparent. My body went cold as we sized each other up. My muscles coiled in anticipation of a fight, which I hoped didn’t happen. Annie was due home any minute, and I didn’t want to risk her seeing him.
“I’m looking for Annaria. Is she home?” He asked pleasantly, making me narrow my eyes.
“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, feigning ignorance.
He raised an eyebrow at me, and I couldn’t help but feel like something was off. “Let me guess; you must be Gerald. Osprey told me about you.”
“Who are you?” I repeated it stubbornly, refusing to give up on my act.
“I’m Logan. I—”
“The future Alpha of the Havana Sleuth…”
“The *Alpha* of the Havana Sleuth and I’ve come to collect my Alpha Sow,” he told me.
“She doesn’t want to be your Alpha Sow. She just hasn’t told you yet,” I scoffed.
He smirked at me. “That’s what you think. She will be my Alpha Sow, my wife, and the mother of all of my cubs,” he said confidently.
I rolled my eyes. “She doesn’t want to move to California to be your Alpha Sow. So get lost.”
“She will when she meets me. She will do whatever she has to, to be by my side.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that, asshole. She belongs here with me," I snarled.
“Wrong again, Gerald. She belongs with her mate.”
“She doesn’t have a mate. She doesn’t want one. Now, be a good little Alpha and go away,” I snapped.
His nose lifted into the air, sniffing excitedly before meeting my eyes, with his own glinting at me.
“Why don’t we ask her who she wants? Her brother or her Goddess-given mate?”
I tensed as I heard Annie enter the house through the back door. “GERRY! I’M HOME!” She yelled. “WHERE ARE—mate!”
I glanced over my shoulder at her, my face falling at the realization that what he said was true. She would do anything to be with him, even after I aura’ed her. Her face was lit up with emotions that I had never seen on her face when she looked at me. As she hurried to the door, all I could think was: I couldn’t lose her. I had to get her to reject him. I easily stepped in her way, blocking her way to him.
“He was just leaving, Annie. I’ve told him that you don’t want to be his Alpha Sow. He—”
“That should be Annaria’s decision, Gerald,” Osprey said as he pushed the door open to walk inside. “How was your day, little sister?”
“It was great. We learned how to draw blood, and—what are all of you doing here?” Annie asked, making me turn around.
Standing behind Logan were not only Giselda, but also my parents. Every single one of them. I clenched my jaw as they walked in the house.
“Oh, I told them how beautifully you set your house up, and they wanted to see it for themselves,” Osprey said.
I narrowed my eyes as they all filed into the house, leaving me no choice but to allow them. There was nothing I could do with so many of them present, even with Osprey powerless against me. And so I was forced to watch as Annie, my fucking Annie, reached out to take Logan’s hand to lead him into the living room. Osprey smiled at me before gesturing to our parents.
“How about a grand tour?” He asked.
I narrowed my eyes on him before giving him a sharp nod. “Right after we collect Annie and Logan.”
I stormed into the living room, immediately drawing up short when I saw how close Annie was sitting to Logan. When a low growl came from me, her head snapped up before she jumped to her feet, placing herself between me and Logan.
“G-Gerry! We were—”
“Mom and Dads want a tour!” I snapped. “Thought maybe Logan would too.”
She smiled at him. “Would you like a tour?” She asked him excitedly.
He nodded as he got to his feet before taking her hand and placing it on his arm. They walked out of the room, and I couldn’t help but feel like he was toying with me. He was clearly up to something, and I wasn’t going to let him fulfill his intentions. If he was here, obviously something happened to change—
“GISELDA!” I roared as I stomped back out to the foyer. She smiled sweetly up at me. “Yes?”
“A word, please,” I ground out.
“But I wanted to see the house. I’ve never been here,” she said coyly. “We always go to my place.”
“NOW!” I yelled, making both her and Annie jump.
Annie pulled away from Logan, stepping closer to our parents as Giselda squared her shoulders before walking over to me. I grabbed her arm before practically dragging her into the living room. I pinned her against the wall, furious as hell at her. When she tried to speak, I gripped her neck, squeezing tightly. She didn’t move or even struggle to breathe; she just simply held her breath, which only served to irritate me more.
“What did you do?” I hissed.
She waved her hand at her throat, and I growled as I let her go. She immediately reached up to rub her neck.
“I didn’t do anything. He has every right to come and claim her. She did agree to be his Alpha Sow, and he is now Alpha. He is only trying to make everything right for Havana.”
I pulled her away from the wall, only to slam her back against it. “You’re lying!” I hissed.
“Maybe I am; maybe I’m not,” she sneered. “Why are you so worried about him being here? Is your relationship with Annie so fragile that you can’t stand him being here with her?”
I grabbed her throat again to pull her up so that she was at my eye level. “She won’t be leaving me,” I growled. “So whatever you and that asshole’s plan is for being here, let me just tell you now that it is going to fail. You will not take her away from me. She is mine! She is who I want! I won’t let you have her!”
Before she could respond, a throat cleared behind me. “Umm, Gerry? Is everything okay?” Annie asked softly.
I released Giselda as I turned my head. “Yes, Annie. How are you feeling?” I questioned as I hurried across the room to Annie’s side.
She nodded as she took a step back, avoiding my hand when I tried to cup her face. “Logan is so nice,” she gushed. “I can’t wait to get to know more about him.” She clamped her mouth shut as soon as the words left her lips before taking another step back. Her hands flew up to cover her cheeks as her eyes apologized to me. “I’m sorry. I…I shouldn't have said that. I’m so sorry.”
I narrowed my eyes on her, but I gave her a sharp nod. “It’s fine,” I told her, barely leashing my temper. “You have every right to be excited that your mate is here.”
“Are you sure?” She asked, her eyes searching my face.
“Of course I am,” I lied, already planning on auraing her to forget meeting him again as soon as everyone left.
She threw herself into my arms, thanking me profusely for understanding. I held her tightly while Kraven thrashed wildly in my head, beating at the walls of my skull and sending searing pain through my body. He kept yelling at me, cursing me for losing Annie. No matter how many times that I told him that we hadn’t lost her, he just kept repeating, ‘She’s leaving us. She’s leaving me.’ When Annie finally pulled away from me, I gave her a tense smile as I tucked her hair behind her ear, hating the way she shied away from my touch again. She took a step back before tilting her head toward the hallway where our family and the bastard that was only here to take my Annie away from me still stood, waiting for a tour of the house.
“Are you ready to give them a tour now?” She asked.
“I guess,” I answered, still trying not to let my fury show.
“Let’s go.” She held out her hand to Giselda. “Zelda?”
Giselda hurried past me to take Annie’s outstretched hand, not hiding the fact that she was exploiting that I would never hurt Annie, not even to get back at someone else. After they left the room, I took a couple of deep breaths before following behind them, only to have to take another one when I saw Annie holding Logan’s hand and arm while she giggled at what he was whispering in her ear. I turned to glare at Giselda, who was watching me smugly.
‘We’ll see who she chooses, asshole,’ she mouthed at me. ‘You are going to lose. You’ll see. She belongs with him.’
I narrowed my eyes on her. Annie didn’t belong with him. She was already where she belonged. And that was here with me. When Logan and Giselda went home without her, they would finally see just who Annie loved more. It would be me, even if I had to aura her…
