Wanting More

“Okay… but what is it?” He repeated, staring at the vial.
I giggled as I ran my fingers over the soft outer surface. “It’s a potion of some sort that the vines are offering to us to render Osprey’s aura ineffective,” I answered.
He turned his head to look at me. “Why are they helping us?” He asked suspiciously.
“I don’t know,” I admitted. “The whole meeting was weird.”
“Who was it?” He inquired, making me smile.
He was the only one who knew the depths of my vision. He had never been a witness to one, but I always told him what they were about.
“Oh, she just showed me a few different ways my future could go,” I told him quietly, trying to beat down the feeling of heartbreak the first version had caused. His arms instantly tightened around me the second he sensed my shift in emotions. “One of them was really sad. The other…” I couldn’t help, nor hide, the way my body heated a little as I pulled on the love from the second one. “Was perfect.”
“What did they show?” He continued with his questions.
“Well, for the first one, I think I had been kidnapped by a rogue.” I fell silent as I thought about the bear. “He was familiar, but at the same time he wasn’t. It was really strange. When I saw him, I knew I loved him, but the me in that vision was terrified.”
“Why was she terrified?”
I lowered my head as the image of the rogue eating my-her cub played in my head. “She was pregnant. I watched her give birth. As soon as she gave birth, she tried to run away. The rogue found her.”
“What happened when he found her?”
“He ate their cub,” I whispered.
“WHAT?!” He growled. “Who the fuck would eat a cub?”
“I don’t know. After that, he dragged her by her hair back to the cabin she had escaped from. That’s all I was shown.” I sniffled as I raised my eyes to meet his. “I can understand why she was scared. He was so cruel to her, and I don’t know why.” I wiped my nose on my shirt. “I could never love a boar like that. I don’t think she did either.”
He began to rock me back and forth a little as he murmured softly to me until I calmed down. When I took a deep, shaky breath, he kissed my cheek.
“You said the second one was happier. Tell me about that one,” he said softly.
“Marsha was lying on a beach, giving birth. There was a boar there helping her, and when she pushed her cub out, he gently moved the cub to her nipple before laying his head on her neck. He licked her face, and I could just feel the love coming from them. It was so pure and…” My voice faded out as I struggled to find the right word. “Healthy. It was so different from the first one,” I finally finished.
“Was the boar on the beach me?” He asked.
I smiled brightly up at him. “Yes,” I lied.
I didn’t want to face his anger over my enjoyment of watching Marsha with another boar, who I had no doubt was our mate. I was not going to be actively searching for my mate, but I could hold onto the vision. Enjoying memories wasn’t cheating, or at least I didn’t think it was. I met his eyes again, knowing in my heart that he wouldn’t feel the same way. He pressed a kiss on my lips.
“I wouldn’t mind having a baby with you, Annie.”
I giggled before playfully slapping his shoulder. “Wouldn’t mind, huh? I think you mispronounced, ‘Annie, please have my baby. I love you so much.’”
He chuckled as he captured my lips again. “Annie, I love you so much, and it would make me the happiest boar in the world if you would one day have my baby.”
I ran my fingers through his hair. “You’re silly, Gerry. We don't even have a place to live. Where would we put a baby? In the sock drawer?”
His eyes sparkled at me. “We could always put them in a suitcase.”
“GERRY!” I giggled, slapping his shoulder again. “Seriously! We have to figure out a lot of stuff before we start making babies.”
He rolled his eyes before huffing, “Fine. I found a place for us to live while you were gone. We just have to present it to our parents and Osprey and pray that they agree.”
“You did? Where is it?” I squealed.
“I did. It’s a small house just over the border of Grimm Forest on the human side. It has three floors, including the basement. There are four bedrooms, along with two and a half bathrooms. It has an 8-foot privacy fence that goes around the entire property line. I could take you out and make love to you in the small bit of forest on the property. I think you would love it.” He smirked down at me. “We wouldn’t even have to put our baby under the sink.”
I rolled my eyes before lightly scratching down his chest. “Are you going to try to get me pregnant now?”
He heaved a heavy sigh. “As much as I would like to, no. Maybe in a few years when our family, especially Osprey, isn’t so involved in our lives.”
I leaned against his chest. “He is kind of overbearing.”
“Kind of? He is beyond being overbearing, Annie. I know you love him, but he is overstepping his bounds by several hundred miles. He needs to be put in his place. If he ever makes me hurt you again, I will fucking slit his throat.” He closed his eyes as he took a deep breath. “I hated hurting you. You didn’t deserve it at all. Seeing you be afraid of me will always be in my memory. Every time you look at me, I see it. Every little sad whimper you make takes me back to that moment when I was holding you against the bed. I never want to see that look on your face again.”
I sighed as I looked down at the vial in my hand. “I really hope this works.”
He pecked my lips before helping me stand up. “There’s no better time than the present to find out. Let’s go, my beautiful mate. The lion’s den will never be as easy to walk into as it will be with you by my side.”
I melted as he took my hand. “Oh, Gerry.”
