I Just Want To Go Home
Annie
I didn’t make a sound as Gerald continued to pound into me. With the grip he had on my throat, I couldn’t even if I wanted to. I had no air in my lungs to be able to formulate the necessary pressure to even squeak. He leaned down to kiss me as his body began to vibrate. I closed my eyes even tighter, trying to imagine that I was anywhere but here in this moment, but my fantasies were never good enough to take me away from it. If I even showed any signs of thinking about anything else, I got a fist to my face. It amazed me that he never hit me in the stomach, but every other place on my body was open for assault.
It made me wonder why. I knew he was aware that I was pregnant, but why did it matter to him? When he finally pulled out of me and let me go, I rolled over, instantly pulling my knees up to my chest. His hand immediately roamed down my side, and if I didn’t know better, it would have almost been sweet. He sat on the edge of the bed with his hand resting on my hip.
“Annie, we’ll be moving today. You should get some rest,” he told me softly.
I kept my eyes squeezed tight, refusing to look at him like I had been doing since he took everything from me. It pissed him off, but I didn’t care. What could he really do? Beat me? Kill me? No, he wouldn’t do that. He would choose to keep me here, miserable by his side instead of sending me to the Goddess to be by Logan’s side. There was nothing left for him to do to me. I bit back a scream when his fist was slammed into my face.
“SAY SOMETHING!” He yelled.
I shook my head, making him even more furious. He started clawing at my skin while he hit every part of my body before he grabbed my hair to yank my head back.
“You just wait, you little whore. When you give birth to that bastard’s child, I am going to devour it! And then I will breed you until you are nothing more than a worn out pussy that can’t even be used for fucking. And then maybe, only then, will I consider sending you back to him!” He hissed.
I burst out laughing as my eyes snapped open. “Do it!” I spat. “Eat your child! I don’t want her anyways! Anything that is part you will always be evil just like you!”
He growled as his fist plowed into my face again. “You’ll regret that lie, whore! I will break you!”
I met his eyes before spitting my blood into his face. “You broke me the minute you took Logan away from me, but that’s not good enough for you. So use my body, Gerald. Rape me as much as you want to. Beat me as you please, but you will never break me more than I’m already broken.” I let my eyes flutter closed. “Not that you care. If you did, you would have let me go!”
He pulled my head back again to bite into his new mark on my throat, sending crippling pain through me. “That’s where you’re wrong, Banannie,” he hissed. “He should have let you go when he realized that what we had was the purest form of love that anyone could ever have. I am going to hunt. When I get back, you will eat and then we will leave.”
He kissed me hard, pressing my lip against my teeth and making even more blood dribble out of my mouth. Seconds later, the cabin door slammed shut, and I let out a long exhale as the vines began to wrap around my ankle. I opened my eyes to look at Vine Keeper Annaria as she stepped out of the pod that came up from the floor. She came over to my side, reaching out to run her hands over my body, sighing.
“Please, let me help you,” she begged, just like she did every time he left the cabin to hunt.
“No! I want to die! Please, just kill me,” I begged.
She smoothed my hair back. “I can’t do that, sweetheart. At least not yet,” she told me softly. “Your daughter is innocent.”
I turned my face into the blankets, hiding the tears that were coursing down my face again. “I know that, but he makes me so angry. How can he ever create anything innocent? He’s so evil,” I sobbed.
She rubbed my back. “I know, Annie. Please don’t punish her for her father’s mistakes. I won’t force you to accept my help, but I also won’t honor your choice until after she is born.”
“Just give me the baby’s solution so I can grieve by myself. It’s been three months, Mother. I just want to go home to Logan.” I reached out to take her hand. “That’s why I need you to protect my daughter. You have to keep her away from her father. Scarlett knows what to do. She promised to take her.” I met her eyes. “When will I give birth? I’m tired, Mother. I want to go home. You told me the solution would help her develop faster so I could give birth safely sooner. But yet, I’m going on 5 months pregnant and I’m still going with no end in sight. I just want to go home. I belong with Logan,” I whispered tearfully.
She squeezed my hand. “Hold on just a little longer, sweetheart. Alpha Osprey and Beta Elena are growing closer. They should be able to take you away from Gerald soon. Don’t give up, Annie.”
I shook my head. “No, Mother. As soon as she’s born, I’m done. How can I be the mother she needs when I’m not even sure about who I am? I’m nothing without Logan. He was my other half. Without him, I’m only half capable. He was my strength. He was my confidence. He was my stability.”
She sighed as she nodded. “I understand. I know where the next cabin is. If you will accept my help, I will keep you there, so that Alpha Osprey and Beta Elena can finally find you.”
“And then you will kill me?” I asked hopefully.
“No, honey. But I won’t stop your death from coming anymore,” she told me softly.
“Thank you.”
She glanced at the door before hugging me tightly. “This will be the last time he moves you. I promise. Now, I have to go. He’s on his way back. I’ll see you see, Annie, or maybe not.”
She stepped back into the pod, and within seconds she had been pulled back through the crack in the ground. The remaining vine pulled its thorn out of my ankle before slipping back through the crack as well. I curled back up into my position with my arms around my legs, wanting to appear just as distraught as I was when he left. When he sat down on the edge of the bed, he ran his fingers through my hair.
“Annie, baby, I’m sorry for being so angry. I wish you had never met him. He ruined everything. We were so happy.”
I opened my eyes to study his face before slowly saying, “what do you want from me, Gerald?”
