The War Between Gerry And Osprey
Gerald
The next morning, I bound down the stairs, humming happily. I had woken up next to my beautiful woman in our childhood home. I had always enjoyed cuddling with her, and now that we were both adults, we could explore all the aspects of everything that we couldn’t back then. I hadn’t wanted to leave her bed, which was why I hadn’t left until I heard people starting to move around. I knew that within moments of me arriving in the kitchen, Annie would be coming downstairs. I smiled widely at my entire family as I grabbed two packets of strawberry poptarts to put into the toaster. I knew Annie was going to be hungry when she came down. I had heard her stomach grumbling before I left.
“You look extra chipper this morning,” Osprey observed as he studied my face.
I gave him a toothy grin as I pulled the poptarts out of the toaster. “I slept well last night. It’s amazing what it can do for your soul, you know?” I answered.
“Yeah, I suppose,” he said slowly.
Right as I was putting a spoonful of vanilla icing on Annie’s plate, she walked in, sniffing the air. Her stomach let out a loud rumble, making everyone laugh as I handed her the plate.
“Thanks, Gerry,” she murmured, a slight blush staining her cheeks.
“Anytime, Bannannie.”
I leaned my hip against the counter as I took a bite of my poptart, avoiding looking at Annie. I loved it when she blushed, and the last thing I needed to do was get aroused while Osprey was around. Scarlett walked up to the refrigerator, smiling at me.
“Hey, Gerry. What have you been up to?” She asked.
I shrugged. “I have been thinking about starting to date. I see how happy all of you guys are, and I want that for myself.”
Her eyes widened. “That’s awesome, Gerry. I’m very proud of you. I’ve been wondering when you were going to get serious about finding your mate. I am so excited for you!”
I returned her smile. “Thank you.”
She grabbed the milk out of the fridge before patting my arm. “You’re going to find the most wonderful woman, Gerry. You’re a great guy.”
My eyes slid past her to meet Annie’s for the briefest moment. “I hope whatever woman I pick to spend my life with sees that too.”
‘She does,’ Annie whispered in my head.
I relaxed as soon as she said that. Nobody’s opinions mattered as much as hers did. I happily finished eating before moving to the sink to help Osprey with the breakfast dishes. When I went to take the last dish from him, I let my nails seem to unintentionally scratch his hand. He pulled back, growling at me.
“DAMMIT, GERALD!” He roared as Scarlett hurried to his side to help clean him up.
“I’m sorry, Osprey. It was an accident,” I immediately apologized.
He bared his teeth at me, obviously furious. “Sure it was!”
I frowned deeply at him as I narrowed my eyes on him. “Believe it or not, it was, asshole.”
Before he could respond, I spun around to look at Annie, who was watching us intently.
“Are you ready?” I asked frustratedly.
“I… ummm… yes. I just need to use the bathroom,” she answered.
“Go on. I want to leave since I’m getting accused of purposely injuring people,” I growled. “I’ll be waiting for you outside.”
She immediately jumped to her feet to rush out of the room. I quickly gave my mother and other sisters hugs before nodding my head at my fathers. When I approached Scarlett, Osprey stepped in front of her, blocking me from reaching her.
“Be safe on your way home, Gerald,” he told me pleasantly.
I rolled my eyes. “I was going to give you a hug, Scarlett, but Osprey is being a dickhead. Maybe next time.”
Scarlett put her hand on Osprey’s shoulder. “It’s okay, ‘Sprey. It’s just a hug.”
Godric surfaced behind his eyes, warning me to be careful as he moved out of the way. I opened my arms to allow Scarlett to move into them before wrapping them around her, cradling her against my body. I met Osprey’s eyes as I turned my head to deeply inhale Scarlett’s scent from her hair. He let out an angry roar as he yanked Scarlett out of my arms. No sooner had he pushed her protectively behind him did he slam both of his hands into my chest, forcing me to take a step back.
“GET OUT!” He yelled.
I smirked at him. “Now you have a reason to be angry, brother.”
When he lunged at me, a flurry of movement filled the kitchen as our fathers hurried to get to us as we rolled on the floor, wrestling for control. Osprey landed a punch on my jaw before I rolled him over to punch him in the nose. His blood squirted out of his nose, and I growled in his face seconds before I was ripped off of him. I shrugged my fathers off of me as Annie appeared in the doorway with her mouth wide open in shock.
“Gerry? Osprey? What’s going on?” She asked.
I met Osprey’s eyes. “Yes, Osprey. What is going on?”
He jerked out of our fathers’ grasps to walk up to me. “If you ever touch my mate again, I don’t give a fuck who you are fucking; I will kill her!”
Kraven surged forward to glare at him. “Do not threaten her,” Kraven snapped. “You hurt mine, and I will hurt yours. They won’t be able to stop the storm that would come for you,” I snarled as I waved around the room at our family.
“Get out!” Osprey ordered. “And do not come back until you adjust your attitude.”
I rolled my eyes before moving around him to grab Annie’s wrist, making sure to not let my other hand brush against anything else.
“Fuck you, Osprey. Come along, Annie.”
Annie glanced around the room. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, honey. Go on. Let him calm down,” my mother said as I pulled Annie out of the kitchen.
When we got a mile away from our house, I stopped to turn toward Annie. “Where’s the vile, baby?”
She handed it to me without hesitation before watching as I put some of Osprey’s blood and skin cells into it. I shook it carefully so the potion could mix with his DNA. Once I was confident it was thoroughly mixed, I took a big swig of it before holding it out to Annie, who stared down at it a little anxiously for a moment before meeting my eyes.
“Gerry, are we doing the right thing?” She asked, making me instantly furious again.
“What do you think?” I spat.
She studied my face for a moment before taking the vial from me. She looked down at it before opening the top. As she raised it to her mouth to take a sip, she met my eyes again. After swallowing, she pocketed the vial.
“It’s only right if it’s true, Gerry.” She put her hand over my heart. “That’s what scares me. I don’t want to lose you again. I couldn’t take it.”
I pulled her into my arms, burying my face into her neck. “You won’t, Annie. I want to be with you forever.”
She sighed as she ran her hands up and down my back slowly. “Forever sounds nice.”
I nodded in agreement. “Yes, baby, it does, and I swear to the Goddess, we will have it.”
