Logan's Truth Comes Out

I woke up surrounded by people in a hospital bed. I sat up and a growl ripped through the room, making all the males avert their eyes from me. A cool breeze making my nipples harden made me look down to see that the hospital gown I was in had come undone. My mother rushed to my side to help me tie it tightly. I thanked her nervously before scanning the faces in the room. My eyes passed over all of my parents, Osprey, Scarlett, and Milton before finally landing on Logan, whose eyes were narrowed on me while his arms were folded across his chest. I anxiously pulled the blankets up to my chest.
“W-what’s going on?” I stammered. “Why am I here?”
I was asking Logan, but the look in his eyes was haughty and I got even more nervous. My mother sat on the bed next to me, taking my hand in hers. She cupped my face with her other one, forcing me to look away from Logan and into her eyes. I swallowed hard.
“Annie, honey, who was the wolf that you were dating?” She asked softly.
“W-what?”
“His name, sweetheart. Who is he?” She repeated.
“I… why?” I inquired.
“Well, we need to know who to notify about the baby.”
“WHAT?!” I screamed. “NO! That’s not–” I turned pleading eyes back to Logan who was now refusing to even look at me. “NO. That’s not true!”
My mother patted my hand. “It is, baby. Tell me his name and I’ll–”
“IT’S NOT HIS!” I yelled. “IT’S A BEAR CUB!”
“Annie–”
I yanked my hand away from her to cover my ears as I began to rock back and forth. “It’s not a pup,” I repeated.
She glanced at Logan who was obviously not about to come to my aid. “Logan said that he couldn’t tell us. That only you could. Giselda–”
“Where is Giselda?” I asked, willing to grasp onto anything to buy myself time.
“She went to see Gerry and–”
“WHAT?!” I yelled again as I jumped out of the bed, immediately swooning forward as a dizzy spell hit.
Before my legs could even buckle, Logan was across the room, scooping me up to deposit me back in the bed. “STAY THERE, GODDESS DAMMIT!”
My mouth fell open when he yelled at me. Between the look in his eyes and his yelling, I was terrified of what he was thinking. I began to twist the hospital gown in my hands.
“O-okay,” I whispered.
Osprey shoved Logan away from the bed, baring his teeth. “Don’t fucking talk to her like that! I get it! I’d be mad too, but this could be your child as much as it couldn’t be. Didn’t you tell me that you met her weeks ago? Wasn’t that why you were lost when you challenged your father? Did the two of you mate then?”
I stared at the two of them in shock. “W-what?”
Logan punched Osprey in the face. “Way to go, asshole! She didn’t want to remember.” He stepped around my brother to come back over to the bed. “Annie–”
I wrapped my arms around my knees. “Get out,” I whispered. “Just get out.”
“Baby–”
“GET OUT!” I bellowed. “NOW! JUST GO AWAY!” Logan sighed but walked out of the room as I scanned my family’s faces. “All of you. Please, leave.”
“Annie–”
I raised tear filled eyes to my mother’s. “Please, just leave.”
She studied my face for a moment before nodding. She tilted her head toward the door before walking out of the room with my fathers and Milton, leaving Osprey and Scarlett in the room.
“Annie, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. I just–”
“Get out!” He left the room, grumbling under his breath while I clung to Scarlett’s hand to keep her from leaving. “Stay, please,” I whispered.
She linked our fingers together as she sat on the bed. I opened our link after glancing anxiously at the door.
‘What did he mean? I know you know. Please don’t lie to me,” I begged in her head.
She started pushing peace and relaxation through our link. ‘Gerry erased some of your memories. You and Logan met twice before he showed up at the house. Once at the mall with me. And the other time, when you were attacked at school. Giselda took you to him so he could help save your life.’
‘Did I mate with him back then?’ I asked, almost too afraid of the answer.
‘I don’t know. He knows. Gerry erased his memories too. He only got them back when he became immune to Gerry’s aura. He never told us if you two had mated.’
‘He’s mad at me,’ I whispered.
‘Not mad, honey. He’s feeling a lot of things. Most of all guilt,’ she told me softly.
‘Why guilt?’
‘Because he was going to come meet you before you left for school. If he had, then you would have never gotten involved with Gerry. He is mad at himself for not protecting you,’ she said. ‘He truly is a good man, sister. He is just struggling to work through his emotions.’
I sighed before squeezing her hand. “Can you ask him to come back in here? I want to talk to him.”
“Sure.”
After one final push of peace, she got up to leave while I reached for Giselda’s link. ‘Gilda?’
‘Annie! How are you feeling? I’ve been so worried,’ she immediately answered.
‘Scared and a little anxious, but I'm okay. Where are you and what are you doing?’
‘I’m pacing out front of Gerry’s hotel.’
‘Come back. I don’t want you around him because of me,’ I told her softly, gulping anxiously as Logan walked into the room. ‘I also don’t want him to know. Not until we’re sure who’s baby it is.’
Logan sat on the edge of the bed, clasping his hands between his knees.
‘Alright. I’ll be back in twenty. Do you need anything?’
‘No, thank you though. Be safe.’
‘Will do, Alpha Sow Annie.’
She cut the link and I hesitantly reached for Logan’s hand, sighing with relief when he latched onto my hand.
“I’m sorry, Annie. I–” I let out a startled cry when he pulled me onto his lap, wrapping his arms tightly around my waist. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t even think that I could be the father. As soon as I heard you were pregnant all I could think of was him. It hurts,” he confided, moving his hand to lay on my stomach. “I’m a fucking mess, baby. I just want you to be done with that part of your life. I don’t want you to leave me if he is the father. I can’t handle it.”
I curled an arm around his neck, pulling him down to kiss him softly. “I wouldn’t, even if he was,” I told him. “I chose you. I marked you. I am here with you. I’m not ever going to be with him again. I swear.”
He put his forehead against mine. “I really hope not, Annie. I need you. I love you.”
“I love you too, Logan.” I remained silent for a moment before sighing loudly. “Did we mate weeks ago?”
He groaned before nodding. “Yes. We did. All night.”
I moved my fingers over his chest. “Was it good?” I asked shyly.
“Oh, yes. It was fucking amazing. You are always amazing,” he murmured, smiling down at me.
“Does that also mean you could be the father?”
His eyes closed. “Goddess, I hope so. I can already see it. A little boy I can rough house with and play catch. I’d teach him to climb trees and how to hunt. He’d be amazing.”
I frowned at him. “And what if we have a little girl?”
His eyes snapped open and I saw the fury in his eyes. “We are not having a girl! And even if we did, nobody would ever know because I would lock her in the basement. Men are assholes and I would not allow her to even have a boyfriend. It’s safer in the basement.”
I stared at him in shock. “You would lock her in the basement?”
“Yes! You’re lucky I haven’t locked you in the basement. If our daughter looks like you, she’s screwed and going into the basement.”
“Please tell me you’re joking,” I snarled.
“Only partially. I can’t handle a little girl. I already freak out when you’re not in my sight. I can’t even imagine how bad it would be if I had two of you,” he admitted.
“What are we going to do if you’re not the father?”
His arms tightened around my waist. “I’ll sign their birth certificate as their father and they will never know another. If you’re staying, then so am I. You’re mine, Annie. If you want me, then I will have you and this child, regardless of who the father is. I’m sorry I was so angry at you. I thought I was losing you.”
I snuggled into his chest. “You’re not. I promise.”
“I was terrified, Annie. When Giselda linked me to tell me that you had collapsed, I went crazy. I didn’t know what was going on. I’m so glad you’re okay.”
“Me too. I wonder why I passed out,” I mused.
“Giselda said you were alpha sowing her. It must have been too much for you at that particular moment,” he replied.
“Alpha sowing her? What does that mean?”
“An alpha sow has the ability to tune into her members’ emotions and combat them with more positive emotions. She said when you arrived she was heartbroken and depressed. She also said that you were making her feel better. The first time is always the hardest.” He tucked my hair behind my ear with a proud glint in his eyes. “I just want to say that is so fucking incredible.”
“It was nothing,” I muttered, flushing.
“You think that but Giselda smiled. It wasn’t ‘nothing’ to her. Now, sweetheart, I can feel your fatigue. How about you lay down and get some rest? I’ll stay by your side until your mother deems you able to be discharged.”
I tilted my head back to look into his eyes. “Will you stay with me?”
“Of course, my love. As long as you forgive me for snapping at you earlier.”
“I do.” I sighed. “I don’t want to tell them who the father is if it’s not you.”
He kissed my forehead. “Then we won’t. As far as anyone will know, I am this baby’s father. I got your back, baby.”
I snuggled back into his chest. “Thank you, Logan, for everything.”
“No, Annie, thank you for being you,” he murmured as he laid us on the bed. “And for being mine.”
