Running Away From The Problem

I remained quiet while Kraven immediately started coaxing me to lie to her, along with finding out who had said what to her. I didn’t want anyone else to say anything to her about anything that I did before I was able to choose her like I had always wanted to do. I frowned at her. I had no idea what they had told her, so I wasn’t quite sure what to say. If she knew that I was dating Katie, would she believe anything that I said to her?
“What exactly did they tell you?” I asked.
“It doesn’t matter. I want you to tell me the truth,” she answered hesitantly.
“I did tell you the truth…”
She searched my face again before sighing. “Okay.”
“Who told you this stuff about me?” I tried again.
“It doesn’t matter. I don’t want you going after them.”
“I won’t. Please just tell me who it was,” I said.
“No, Gerry, and don’t aura me into telling you either. I don’t like it when you aura me,” she whispered.
“I don’t aura—you know, don’t you?” I asked.
“Marsha said you aura’ed us that night, and that’s when Katherine died. Did you go to see her?”
I clenched my jaw before rolling off her. She silently watched as I got dressed before walking toward the door.
“Gerry? Where are you going?”
I stopped with my hand on the doorknob. “I’m going out for a little bit. I need to calm down.”
“I’m sorry, Gerald. I didn’t mean to upset you,” she whispered.
I stiffened but didn’t turn around. “But you did, and I need to go blow off steam,” I snapped.
I heard her shift on the bed behind me, and I groaned. I didn’t want her to touch me. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to control Kraven. He was furious. We both were. With her and those assholes who told her Goddess knows what about what I was doing before she arrived at the college.
“Gerry, please don’t go,” she begged. “Don’t go out there angry. I don’t want you to hurt anyone else. Not over me. Please. I’m sorry.”
She wrapped her arms around my waist, and my anger immediately faltered. I linked my fingers with hers, sighing a little.
“Annie, I promise you that I won’t hurt anyone. I just don’t like that you are allowing those boys to make you question me. Everything I do is for you. For us. They shouldn’t be telling you anything. You can ask me yourself, and I will tell you whatever you want to know. You shouldn’t be getting your information from males who want to mate with you.”
She pressed her face against my back. “I don’t want to mate with them. I just want you, but I want you to be honest with me. I don’t want you to do anything that could get you in trouble. I don’t want to lose you over something that could have been prevented.”
I groaned as Kraven started to thaw fully. I knew she was the only one that would be able to keep me calm when all I wanted to do was rip through all the people who were trying to take her from me. I turned around to take her in my arms, burying my face in her neck.
“Annie, I love you. I swear to you that I will not let anyone take me away from you, nor will I allow anyone to take you from me. I just need to calm down. We’ll talk when I get back.”
She tilted her head back to look up into my eyes. “Do you promise?”
“I do.” I kissed her softly. “I’ll be back in a little bit. I just want to let Kraven run for a while.” I moved my hand up to cup her face, slowly moving my fingers through her hair. “I promised you that I would do my best not to scare you, and I’m trying to stay true to my word. Please understand that this is what I need in order to do that.”
She squeezed me tightly before stepping away from me. “Okay, Gerry. How long will you be gone?” She asked.
“Maybe half an hour,” I answered.
She nodded as she raised her hand to my face. “Be safe, Gerry. I love you.”
“I love you too, Banannie,” I repeated back to her as I placed my forehead against hers briefly before walking out of not only the bedroom but the house as well.
I quickly shed my clothes, and in seconds, Kraven had taken over and was racing through trees. We ran 3 miles before we slowed down. As we neared the stream that ran along the Grimm Forest border, we raised our snout into the air as a tantalizing scent caught our attention. I cursed in our head as he began to follow it to a small clearing where Giselda sat with a young man who had his arm around her shoulders while she leaned against his side. We immediately got irritated at her obvious comfort with the male.
‘Why is she with him?’ Kraven growled. ‘She has a mate!’
I remained quiet for a moment before sighing. ‘Do you want to claim her as our mate, Kraven?’
‘No! Annie is our mate! I just don’t like that she is being so blatantly disrespectful being out in public with another male while we are here. She should be punished!’
I couldn’t help but chuckle a little. ‘We found her while we were wrapped around Annie. How is her having a boyfriend any different?’
‘Because she’s a woman! They are supposed to be submissive and need us to provide for them,’ he huffed.
I watched Giselda for a moment before shaking our head. ‘So what do you want to do about her then? I love Annie, and she is who I want.’
‘I don’t know what I want to do. I want Annie too, but I can’t help but feel the pull toward Giselda.’ He fell quiet before sighing. ‘Do you think Annie would be okay with us having both of them?’
‘What? Annie would most definitely not be okay with that. She couldn’t even handle Katie talking to us. How do you think she would respond if we told her that Giselda was our fated mate? She would leave us in a heartbeat. I don’t want to lose her. I can’t lose her again. You know it almost destroyed us,’ I told him.
“I know it did. I hate this! Giselda will never compare to Annie, but she is our fated mate.’ He pawed at the ground angrily. “I wish Annie was our fated mate. It would solve everything.’
‘Yes, it would,” I agreed. ‘So what are we doing?’ I asked again.
‘Nothing. I won’t ever choose Giselda over Annie. She is who we were meant to be with. Regardless of what the Goddess says. Just because we want to mate Giselda doesn’t mean that it will develop into anything beyond that. I won’t let a sexual desire ruin what we have with Annie,’ he said as he turned away from Giselda and the man. ‘Besides, Annie is more than enough to satiate our sexual desires.’
I chuckled as I thought about her lying naked under me. ‘Oh, I know. And thanks, now I’m horny. Maybe Annie will let us fuck her again when I get back,’ I said hopefully.
He groaned. ‘Maybe, but you know that she is going to want to talk about Katherine’s death.’
‘Yeah, and we still have no idea what to say…’
