Your Fate Is In Your Hands!
Gerry
I woke up bound to a hard chair by something soft. I tugged at my hands as I took deep breaths, trying to use Kraven’s sense of smell to gather information about where I actually was since my vision was rendered useless by some type of cloth that had been placed over them. The more I tugged on my hands, the harder my soft restraints became until I couldn’t move them at all. Something began to slither up my body and Kraven freaked out, thrashing wildly until the scent of my blood hung heavily in the air. A harsh chuckle stopped my movements as I tried to figure out exactly who was in the room with me.
“As much as I would love to sit here and watch you kill yourself in your struggle, I promised too many important people that I wouldn’t kill you unless I had to.”
“Osprey?”
The cloth was jerked off my head roughly, revealing my brother, who was glaring at me. “As of right now, you are to call me Alpha! You have no right to address me in such a familiar way!” He growled before his eyes glazed over a little, letting me know that someone was linking him.
He let out an aggravated breath before walking over to the door to grab a chair. He set the chair down in front of me with the back toward me. He sat down on it, looking like a wanna be thug who wanted to intimidate their victims. The only difference was this wanna be thug was a lot more than a wannabe. He was more than capable of making anyone his victim, and the way he was looking at me with such a deep hatred in his eyes, told me clearly that I was at the top of his “make them my victim” list.
“Scarlett says she forgives you,” he hissed.
“Forgive me for what?” I asked, trying to gauge just how much trouble I really was in.
“For making me attack her!” He snarled before closing his eyes to take several deep breaths. “She’s pregnant, Gerald. I could have killed her or our cub. She threatened to leave me,” he told me, pressing his fingers into his eyes for a moment. “I would have never targeted Giselda just because I was pissed at you.”
My blood went cold at the mention of my fated mate. “What does Giselda have to do with this?”
“Because I know she’s your fated mate, just like Scarlett is mine.” He stood up to start pacing in front of me with his hands clasped behind his back. “What pisses me off the most is what she went through before, and now you created an entirely different worry for her. As much as she says she’s over it, I can see it in her eyes that she’s not. She is always trying to figure out if it’s me or something else in control. Do you have any idea how much that hurts to know that your mate doesn’t trust you?” He spun around to meet my eyes.
“No, I bet you don’t understand, because even when your chosen mate looked at you with fear in her eyes, you abused her terror and her to get your way. You aura’ed her instead of facing the issue head on. You wanted to erase the problem, not work on it.” He walked over to place his hands on the arm rests of my chair, leaning down to look into my eyes. “You are so cold and heartless. You’re an asshole. We are not the same!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I told him. “I don’t have a chosen mate.”
“This would go a lot smoother if you stop lying,” he snapped as he moved back to his chair.
“I’m not,” I denied again.
“Alright. Well, let me explain to you what I know, so we can just get past this. One: I know you have been in a sexual relationship with Annie. Not only can I smell you on her, but the closer I got to the bed, the more I could smell both of you on it. Two: I know that you have been running around using your aura to command people to fight or kill, either themselves or others. Three: I know that you erased Annie’s memories of Logan. Four: You aura’ed me to attack Scarlett. Are you clear about what I know? Good,” he spat before I even had time to react.
“Now, on to what’s going to happen. You have two options. Option one: I beat the shit out of you for making me hurt Scarlett, and then we work on rewiring your brain so that you can stay alive and try to love Giselda the way she deserves to be loved. Or option two: I kill you and break more than one heart. The choice is yours. So what is it going to be?”
I continued to glare at him, knowing what I wanted to say, but also knowing that if I told him that, it would result in my immediate death. I was too angry to respond to him. I hated that I was in this position. When I still didn’t respond to him, he stood up, rolling his shoulders back.
“Alright. I’ll give you a few days to think about it.”
He picked up a night mask that must have been what was over my eyes when I woke up. He walked up to me before yanking my head back to look into my eyes. “You have caused a lot of damage to my mate, our family, and to our sleuth. Option one won’t be easy, but at least you will be alive. I don’t want you to be alive. I don’t trust you, but you know Scarlett. She thinks that everyone is redeemable. She thinks that you are going to be another Silver. Me? No, I don’t believe that. I think you are going to be a Vanessa. I think you are just simply evil and I have no idea how that happened when we were all raised the same. But out of love for my mate, I am willing to give you a chance. If you choose option one and continue to try to claim Annie as your own when she has chosen her path in life, your choice will be rendered useless because I will kill you. And I promise you it will be painful.”
He pulled the mask down over my eyes, putting me in darkness again. Fuck. I waited for him to leave to reach out to Kraven who was fuming inside of my head.
‘What are we going to do?’ I asked. ‘How do we get out of this?’
Kraven growled at me angrily. ‘Why did you even allow this to happen? You should have just killed them all and then we wouldn’t even be in this mess! You should have just taken Annie and Giselda away and had them both! I told you that this wasn’t going to end well if you didn’t. You didn’t listen to me then, so why the fuck should I try to help you now?’
I groaned. He was right. He had told me all of that, but it didn’t help knowing that if we weren’t a team now, we would die, because Osprey might be a lot of things, but a liar wasn’t one of them. If he said he would kill me, he would, and he wouldn’t even hesitate. I sighed as I tried to reason with my livid bear.
‘I know. I’m sorry, but we need to work together to get out of this. I swear that if you help me get out of this, we will take them away. Not just Annie, Giselda too,’ I told him.
‘Hmmm. If I agree to help you, you have to do as I say when I say. Or I will desert you and let Godric kill you!’
‘Fine! Fine! So what is the plan?’
He chuckled as his eyes glowed at me, making my anxiety rise quickly. ‘Well, you heard him. Option one won’t be easy but we’ll be alive. And having both of our mates is the only thing worth living for. So be a good human and take your beating like a champ…’
