Making Annie Understand
“No, Annie. I told you that I wouldn’t hold you hostage,” I told her.
“I want to leave,” she repeated, making me sigh as I stuck my hands in my pockets.
“Please don’t, Annie.”
Osprey moved to her side while carefully keeping Scarlett behind him. He took Annie’s elbow in his hand before pulling her closer to his side as he studied my face. I watched helplessly as Osprey led both women toward me, trying to skirt around me. I yanked Kraven to the front of our mind, and he tensed, preparing to fight for our mate. As they walked past me, Kraven forced our link with Marsha open and immediately pulled on her alpha power, while I entered into Osprey’s and Scarlett’s links.
Annie cried out as she stumbled, making me shift into her path to catch her as Scarlett and Osprey collapsed onto the floor. I picked Annie up, cradling her against my chest while I apologized repeatedly. Annie whimpered as she weakly raised her head to look up at me.
“What did you do to me?” She slurred drowsily.
I laid her on the couch before kneeling beside it as I ran my fingers through her hair. “I’m so sorry, Annie. I couldn’t let you leave without me explaining to you why I didn’t tell you that Giselda was my mate.”
“You promised not to aura me…” She whispered, fading off as her eyes started to close.
I began to slowly push some of Kraven’s energy into Marsha so as not to overwhelm them. When Annie started to perk up, I lifted her hand to my mouth to press a soft kiss onto the back of it.
“Annie, please let me explain, and if you still want to leave, I swear I’ll let you go,” I lied. When she didn’t pull away, I continued on. “Yes, I met Giselda. Yes, she’s my fated mate. Yes, she’s beautiful, and yes, I feel the pull to her, but she’s not you.” I cupped her face as I pressed my forehead against hers. “I didn’t tell you for two reasons. One: I have no interest in being with her. And two: I didn’t want you to get insecure again. No matter how much I tell you how beautiful I think you are, you will never truly believe it until you see yourself the way I see you. I wasn’t trying to hide finding her from you on purpose. I just didn’t know how to tell you. I didn’t want you to feel the way you feel right now. I’m so sorry that I made you feel that way,” I told her.
She sniffled as her eyes closed again. “You can’t lie to me, Gerry. I keep telling you that. Your lies are going to destroy us.” She waved her hand, gesturing at the entire room. “Look what happened.”
“I know, baby, and I am so sorry. I know I keep saying it won’t happen again, but I swear to you, it won’t,” I murmured. “Please, just give me another chance. Stay here and let’s forget this happened. I love you, and I pray to the Goddess above that you still love me too.”
She sighed as she pressed her lips against mine. “I do, Gerry. That’s why I get so upset.”
I looked into her eyes, hopefully. “So you’ll stay?”
“Are you going to keep lying to me?” She asked.
“No!” I answered.
“Alright then. I will give you one last chance, Gerry.” She gripped my face in her hands. “Please don’t make me have to walk away.”
I pulled her down onto my lap, wrapping my arms around her. “I won’t.” I began to rock her back and forth. “I love you, Annie. More than you know.”
She nuzzled into my neck, inhaling deeply. “I love you, too, Gerry.”
We fell silent for a moment while both of us finished calming down. I kissed her neck before leaning back to meet her eyes.
“Would you have really gone to be with him?” I asked.
She sighed before shaking her head. “No. I just said that to hurt you like I was hurt. I was going to let Osprey take me away from the house before telling him to let me go.”
I kissed her deeply before grimacing as I looked at Osprey and Scarlett, who were still passed out on the floor.
“I should move them to their bed, baby,” I said.
She slapped my chest. “GERRY! SCARLETT IS PREGNANT! WHAT DID YOU DO?!” She shrieked before hurrying over to Scarlett’s side.
She pressed her fingers against Scarlett’s throat, checking her pulse. Once she was satisfied that Scarlett was okay, she sighed.
“Did you hurt them?” She asked.
“No, baby. I just put them to sleep like we agreed I would do. They will be fine when they wake up,” I reassured her.
“Alright. Yes. Let’s move them. And then we can lay in bed and cuddle while we watch a movie?” She asked hopefully.
I chuckled as I got to my feet to pick Osprey up. “We can do anything you want as long as I can hold you. I almost lost you just now, and I really need to make sure that you are still here.”
She smiled softly at me. “Okay.”
I quickly moved both Osprey and Scarlett upstairs to the guest room before stepping back to look them over. I inhaled deeply to see if Annie had come upstairs yet. When I didn’t smell her, I leaned down to growl lightly in Osprey’s face.
“Once Annie is asleep, I will be back for you. I will not allow you to get between us, and you fucked up telling her about Giselda. For that, you need to be punished.”
I stopped talking as footsteps on the stairs alerted me to Annie’s journey upstairs. I straightened up as she walked into the room with two large bowls of ice cream. I walked over to her, immediately taking them from her.
“Are you ready?”
“Yes. Let’s go,” she replied excitedly.
I followed behind her to the bedroom, where she entered our en suite. She poked her head back out to smile at me. “Get comfortable, Gerry. I’m going to change into my pajamas,” she announced.
I chuckled as I set the bowls on my bedside table before stripping down to my boxers. I glanced at the bathroom door as I reached for my drawer to pull out the sleeping dust that Corey had given me. I had promised not to aura my sweet, sweet Annie, but this was a crisis. I couldn’t let her possibly bounce back and forth with the desire to leave me. And besides, the dust was safe. It was made from the vines that ran through bear sleuths.
The vines gave us everything. This particular dust was undetectable by bears, and that was what made it such a great medicine. Our mother had used it several times as a sedative when other medicines didn’t work. I quickly poured a tiny bit on top of Annie’s ice cream, amazed at how fast it was absorbed into the melting ice cream.
When I heard Annie’s footsteps nearing the bathroom door, I put the little packet of dust back into my bedside table drawer before hopping into bed. I looked toward the bathroom door just as it started to open. I heard Annie draw in a deep breath before stepping into the doorway. My breath whooshed out as I ran my eyes down her body.
Annie was in next to nothing, and the little teddy she was wearing didn’t hide even a centimeter of her body. I swallowed hard as I took in her long legs and curvaceous body. The hunter green teddy had a single button on it that was hooked between her breasts. The teddy split in two immediately below the button, revealing her stomach, belly button, and matching green thong she wore.
“Do you like it?” She asked almost silently as she shifted nervously.
“Like it?” I got up to cross the room to cup her face, rubbing my thumb over her lips. “I fucking love it, Annie! This is such a great color on you.” I looked down at her body again. “You are absolutely perfect!”
She flushed before standing on her tiptoes to kiss me. “Thank you, Gerry.”
I kept my arm around her waist as I led her to the bed. “Goddess, Annie. I am such a lucky man!”
She blushed even darker as she took her bowl of ice cream from me. “I’m glad you feel that way.”
I pressed a kiss on her shoulder. “I do. Now, you should finish your ice cream quickly,” I told her as I lifted the first bite to her mouth.
“And why’s that?” She flirted.
“Because as soon as you're done, I’m going to make love to you, Annie. I think you need to be reminded that you are who I want for life,” I told her.
She didn’t respond, but I was glad to see that she began to shovel the ice cream into her mouth. Kraven pushed forward to watch her through my eyes.
‘That’s it, Annaria,’ he growled. ‘Finish up. I want there to be enough time to make love to you before I fix this whole mess...’
