I paced outside of the mall while Giselda watched me. We all knew how important today was. When Osprey reached out to me to tell me that Scarlett would be taking Annie to the mall just outside of Grimm Forest’s boundaries, I had jumped at the chance to meet her. The whole way from the hotel, all I could think about was Osprey telling me that Annie only got involved with Gerald because she wanted to belong. I could make her feel like she belonged. “Cousin, calm down. Scarlett said she would link you if the plan changed. Please, just relax. When she gets here and you meet her, he won’t stand a chance,” she told me softly, making me freeze for a moment before going to sit next to her.
“Do you want to talk about him, Gizzy?” I asked her.
“No. He doesn’t deserve a moment of my time,” she whispered, lowering her head.
I took her hand, soothingly rubbing the back of it with my thumb. “No, cousin, he doesn’t. If you want me to hunt him down and whoop his ass, just say the word. I will fuck him up.”
She gave me a hesitant smile. “I know you will, Logo, and I love you for that.”
I draped my arm over her shoulders. “Tell me about Annie again.”
She rolled her eyes as she leaned against my side. “Well, Annie is such a sweetheart. She is so shy and sweet. She has this energy that radiates from her, and I can tell that she is one of the Goddess’ chosen ones. She has an affinity for animals that I have only seen once before.” She paused to chuckle for a moment. “Your mother is going to love her. She reminds me of Auntie Laura. I’m sure that Auntie Laura will turn the sleuth hospital over to her without issue. On top of that, her mother is Alpha Sow Natasha. She’s the best doctor that we have. You are so lucky to have such a wonderful mate.”
My chest puffed out proudly. “Our sleuth is lucky to have such an amazing Alpha Sow.”
“Yes, we are,” she agreed.
We fell silent as we each drifted off into our own worlds. I thought about Annie and my excitement about finally getting to meet her. As drawn to her scent and how she looked over the video call as I had been, I still wasn’t 100% sure that she was really my fated mate. Even though I was now obsessed with having her, I was still determined to win her over. All I needed was a chance, and today I was getting one. I wasn’t going to waste it. My thoughts were cut off when Scarlett opened the group link we shared with Osprey and Giselda.
‘Are you here, Logan?’ She asked.
‘Yes. We are at the fountain,’ I answered immediately.
‘Good. We are walking in on the east side by the Macy’s.’
‘We are on the way,’ I said as we got up to make our way toward the store.
As we neared Macy’s, I lifted my face into the air, inhaling deeply. Luge’s growl rumbled in my chest as we picked up on the scent that had been driving us insane since the moment we smelled it. *Annie.* I picked up speed, eagerly rushing toward where her scent was the strongest. I stopped outside of a store that held hundreds of paintings, statues, and ceramic figurines. My eyes moved rapidly from side to side, scanning the small store for a glimpse of her. Giselda poked me in the ribs, drawing my attention to where she pointed at a stunning redheaded female with the most gorgeous, doll-like green eyes I had ever seen. “Not yet, Logan. You need to wait until she is relaxed. Then you swoop in and introduce yourself! Stick with the plan. It’s the best one we have,” she told me softly.
My eyes slid from her back to where my mate stood laughing with her sister. I was absolutely floored by how strongly I was attracted to her. Everyone spoke about the pull one felt to their fated mate, but no one ever discussed how instant the desire factor was. I wish they had. For the next couple of hours, Giselda and I followed Annie and Scarlett through the mall while I absorbed everything she said while memorizing every inch of my beautiful mate. I loved how perfect she was. I was amazed by how happy and ready to laugh Annie was. She was easily the single most amazing creature that I had ever seen.
When they stopped for a snack in the food court, I hurried toward the bathroom after ordering Giselda to keep an eye on Annie. Scarlett too, but mostly Annie. Once inside the bathroom, I walked past the urinals to step into one of the stalls, where I quickly relieved the pressure in my balls. She chuckled as we walked down the long hallway toward the bookstore, where I would finally get to officially meet Annie. I couldn’t help but vibrate with anticipation. I wondered if our meeting would go anywhere like all my fantasies had been.
