What do you want?

Annie
I woke up in a strange room with arms wrapped tightly around me, holding me securely against a hard body that I instantly knew wasn’t Gerry. Happiness and contentment moved through my body while I lightly ran my fingers over his muscular arm. He groaned behind me as he buried his face in my neck.
“You shouldn’t touch me like that,” he murmured huskily, sending shivers down my back. “I’ve been trying so hard for hours to behave, and right now, you’re making it very *hard* for me.”
I flushed, my hand stilling on his arm as his erection lightly tapped my lower back. I couldn’t stop the small whimper that escaped from my slightly parted lips. His lips drifted over my neck, and a pleasurable moan left me as I went to reach my arm over my shoulder to grip his head, but it was yanked back down to lay against my stomach, causing a hiss of pain to come from him.
I looked down to see that there were two needles and tubing going from my arm to his hairy one. I ran my fingers along the tubes from my arm to his arm, drawing a small, unidentifiable sound from him. When I started to remove the makeshift transfusion equipment from our bodies, he didn’t stop me. I laid still for a moment, running my fingers over his skin again before rolling over to face him. My breath instantly caught in my lungs when I met his beautiful brown eyes.
“Logan,” I whispered.
He smiled at me as he tucked my hair behind my ear. “Hey, Annie. How are you feeling?” He asked softly.
“I’m okay. How are you?” I replied breathlessly.
“Much better with you in my arms,” he answered.
I hesitantly reached up to touch his face. “How am I here?”
“You were involved in a fight that ended your life. Giselda had some of my blood, and she used it to save you. Gerald brought you to me so I could finish helping you heal,” he informed me as his eyes fluttered closed, obviously enjoying my touch.
My hands stilled on his face as I stared at him in shock. “Gerry brought me here?”
His eyes opened so he could study my face. “Yes. He knew you needed extra help to make it. He knew he wasn’t enough.” He reached up to take my hand off his face to put it on his chest over his heart. I curled my fingers around his, keeping us linked and making him draw in a shuddering breath. “He knew you needed me. For as much wrong as he has done, it’s nice to know that he loves you enough to give you a chance to survive.”
I closed my eyes. “Where is he?”
“He’s a few rooms down.” He paused as he removed his hand from mine to cup my face, his thumb stroking over my cheekbone. “Do you want me to go get him?”
My heart started pounding as my eyes flew open to stare into his eyes again. “Do you want to get him?” I whimpered.
“This isn’t about me, Annie. It’s about you and what you want. I know that we only met very briefly once before, and now you are in my bed. I’m sure that this is all very scary for you. I don’t want you to be scared. So, if it means that I have to go get him, I will,” he told me.
I shook my head as I lightly scratched his chest. “We met before? When?”
Confusion crossed his face. “We met at the mall. Don’t you remember?”
I shook my head. “No. I’m sure that I have never seen you before.”
‘Because Kraven aura'd us again,’ Marsha told me angrily, making me miss what Logan said while she paced inside our head.
‘What?’
‘There is a block around several hours of our memories, and I can’t seem to break it,’ she growled lightly.
I bit my lip as I pushed my love out to surround her, trying to comfort her as I moved my face forward to press my forehead against his. ‘Why do you think he keeps auraing us?’ I asked, saddened by the news that Gerry had broken his promise to me.
“What did you say?” I inquired.
“I said, ‘How did you know my name if you don’t remember meeting me?’” He repeated.
“I-I don’t know. Marsha said that Gerry hid the memory from us,” I admitted, my anguish coming out in my words. “I don’t know why he would do that. He swore to me that he would let me go if I wanted to be with my fated mate.”
His eyes heated a little as they bore into mine. “And do you, Annie?”
My heart skipped a beat while my stomach fluttered. “Do I what?”
“Do you want your fated mate?” He asked.
My heart sped up even more, and my mouth went dry as I continued to stare into his eyes. “Do you?”
He chuckled softly as his hand lowered on my face so that he could rub my bottom lip with his thumb. “What did I tell you, Annie?” When I didn’t respond, his hand tightened on my face. “This is about you and what you want. I know what I want, and that has always been you. I want to protect you and love you for every last day that I have on this earth.” He paused to let his words sink in before continuing.
“I am very worried now that you have told me that he uses his aura on you, about your well-being. It makes me wonder just how safe you really are with him. I don’t want to have to kill him for hurting you, because I know that you care about him. But I will if he hurts you. You don’t have to choose me, Annie. I’ve already let you go once. It was hard, but I know that you deserve to be wooed. You deserve to have whoever you choose. All I ask is that you give me a chance to show you how badly I want you. Give me a chance to show you just how badly our sleuth needs you. Even if you didn’t choose me today, I would keep pursuing you until you rejected me, which I hope you never do, because I am already so into you.”
“Logan,” I whispered, my voice full of sadness. “I don’t think I can give you what you want or need. I don’t think I can be the Alpha Sow that Havana deserves.”
His hand moved to run down my arm before coming back up to rest on my shoulder. “We are both young, Annie. We have a lot to learn, but I know that we can rule together successfully. Just give us a chance. I’m begging you. Don’t give up on us,” he pleaded.
I sighed as I ran my fingers through his hair. “I don’t want to give up on what we could have, Logan. If I’m honest with myself, Gerry’s continued willingness to use his aura on me frightens me. What if next time he tells me to hurt myself? Or someone else? That’s not what you do to someone you love,” I told him.
“I know it’s not. So, what do you want to do, Annie? All you have to do is tell me, and I will make it happen,” he promised.
I took a deep breath as conflicting emotions flowed into my body. “Take me away from him, Logan. I’m scared, and I just want to be safe. I think I can be safe with you.”
“Are you sure that’s what you want?” He asked.
I remained silent for a moment as I searched his eyes before I sighed as I closed my eyes. “Yes, Logan. Take me away…”
