Fighting Over Annie
I pushed Logan off of me before scrambling off the bed, putting myself protectively between the two angry males in the room. I swallowed hard as I met his eyes.
“Gerry,” I whimpered. “Please, don’t be angry.”
“Don’t be angry,” he mimicked. “Are you fucking serious?”
“H-he’s my mate. Please understand. I—”
He stormed across the room before reaching out to grab me. I cried out as I was flung backward, landing across the room on the small couch as growls filled the air. Logan was on all fours on the bed while Gerry stood less than a foot from him with his eyes narrowed while Kraven’s fur erupted on his exposed skin, warning us of an impending shift. I scrambled up before leaping over the back of the couch to get between them again, starting to panic. Gerry took a step toward me, growling furiously.
“MOVE!” He roared.
“N-no,” I stuttered as I put my arms out again, praying that it would stop the fight that was looming over all of our heads.
He crept up closer to me until we were toe to toe, his chest heaving with angry breaths while his eyes glinted at me.”Are you seriously trying to protect him?” He growled, reaching out to grab my arm roughly before shaking me a little, earning a threatening growl from Logan. “HE IS NOTHING! WE ARE HAPPY! DON’T LET HIM DESTROY WHAT WE HAVE!”
“Let me go, Gerry,” I whimpered, trying to pull my arm away from him.
“Let her go, Gerald. This is between me and you. She didn’t do anything wrong. We can handle this like men,” Logan said, trying to reason with Gerry, but from the look in his eyes, Logan’s words had fallen on deaf ears.
Gerry’s hand tightened on my arm more, sending pain shooting through as my bones started cracking under the pressure of his grip.
“Gerry, please. You’re hurting me,” I whimpered.
He pulled me against his body, still glaring down at me. “I will never let you go,” he hissed. “You’re mine.”
“Gerry, I’m serious. Let me go!” I ordered, starting to panic.
“Make me,” he spat, baring his teeth at me.
I tugged on my arm again as tears filled my eyes. “Please, Gerry. You’re scaring me.”
“I haven’t even begun to scare you, Annie,” he sneered.
“MOM! MOM! OSPREY!” I screamed.
“They aren’t going to come to your rescue, bitch. I put them down,” he snarled.
My eyes widened as even more fear filled me. “What did you do?” I whispered.
“What I had to do, you little slut. Always what I have to do,” he told me disgustedly before shoving me away from him, making me fall toward the floor.
Before I even landed, Logan jumped at Gerry, tackling him. I screamed again as I watched in horror as both of my men started to pummel each other with balled fists. Blood splattered everywhere as they repeatedly struck each other. I shakily climbed to my feet to tug at them, trying to get them apart as bones cracked and bruises turned their skin black and blue. I frantically started kicking at them, yelling at them louder to stop. Gerry threw Logan off of him before rolling over so he could lunge at me, taking me to the floor with his hit. He pulled his fist back, and I squeezed my eyes closed, bracing for the hit.
“I’LL KILL YOU, YOU FUCKING WHORE!”
“GET OFF OF HER!” Logan roared as Gerry was jerked off of me.
I rolled over, sobbing as terror tried to hold me hostage. I started hyperventilating as the sounds of a fight kicked up behind me again. I tried to push myself up, but my fear made my body tremble too violently for me to push myself up successfully, leaving me to drag myself across the floor, sobbing hysterically. When I got to the door, I reached up to use the doorknob to pull myself up a little.
“OSPREY! MOM! DAD!” I cried.
Ceramic broke seconds before a loud thud shook the room, drawing my attention. Gerry was on the floor glaring at Logan, who was standing between me and Gerry, holding his ribs that I just knew were broken. Gerry got up, tugging at his sleeves before his eyes slid past Logan to land on me. His lips raised up to smirk at me.
“Say goodbye to your mate, Annie, and when you’re done with that, you can pray that the Goddess welcomes you into her world, because I’m going to kill you too. You can be together over your dead bodies,” he said calmly before taking a step toward us as Kraven flashed in his eyes.
I pulled on the doorframe, trying to stand up again as Gerry slowly approached Logan.
“NO!” I screamed as I finally managed to get to my feet. “GERRY, PLEASE, DON’T!” I sobbed.
He turned his head to glare at me while fur rippled along his skin again. “Tell me why I shouldn’t kill him.”
“Because,” I cried, stumbling forward. “I’ll go with you. Wherever you want. We won’t come back. I-I’ll never see him again. Please, just let him live,” I begged.
“Annie, no! Don’t do this,” Logan growled with his eyes glued to Gerry. “I won’t let him take you aw—”
“Reject him, and I’ll think about letting him live,” Gerry spat, interrupting Logan.
I turned toward Logan, not even bothering to hide or try to stop the tears pouring from my eyes.
“I, Annaria Parker, reject you, Logan, as my mate,” I whispered, breaking inside.
Logan narrowed his eyes on Gerry. “I reject your rejection, Annaria.”
I threw myself at him, sobbing, only vaguely hearing his grunt of pain. “You have to accept it, Logan.”
“No!”
I felt rather than saw or heard Gerry move behind me, and I reached up to grip Logan’s face. “Please, Logan. He said he would let you live.” I pulled his face down to kiss him softly. “I need you to live.”
*‘Please, Logan, just accept it. I swear that I will find a way to get away from him and come find you.’* I begged silently, praying to the Goddess that he would hear me.
He wrapped his arm around my waist, holding me close to his body. “I can’t do that, Annaria.” He kissed my cheek. “I promise you that I won’t be dying today. Trust me, baby.”
“Yeah, trust him, baby,” Gerry said smugly, sending a shiver of fear down my back. “Or you can trust me when I say that the only way he doesn’t die is by me dying, and that, I promise you, is never going to happen. Especially not at his hands. And unless you want to die with him, I suggest you move, Annaria.”
I tilted my head back to look into Logan’s beautiful eyes for the last time. “I’m sorry,” I whispered as I lifted my hand to his cheek briefly before taking a step back.
His arms tightened around my waist, refusing to let me go. Gerry’s aura came out fast and hard, threatening to choke me. Logan growled at him, making Gerry laugh. His aura grew stronger, making my knees knock together, but still Logan held onto me.
“LET! HER! GO!” Gerry yelled, letting his aura out fully.
Marsha exploded to life inside of me, screaming in agony as our pain from Gerry’s aura made our head pound like we had a jackhammer inside of it. My hands flew up to my head as I started stumbling around, trying to escape from the pain. As my vision began to turn into a black and white fuzziness, I started to run into things, sending even more pain ricocheting through my body.
“ANNIE! STOP!” Logan yelled in panic.
His words were followed by a thud that shook the floor, making me stumble even more. The pain in my head intensified, making me howl in desperation as my tears further blinded me. A white-hot, searing pain shot through me, causing my legs to buckle and sending me flying forward. I was vaguely aware of glass breaking and sharp objects cutting into my skin before my breath was stolen from my lungs as I fell through air. A sudden, hard landing on the hard ground broke several of my bones and caused blood to explode out of my body.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!” I heard Osprey yell from above me, his aura barely reaching me as I lay gasping for air that I stood no chance of absorbing.
Osprey appeared in the window, moments before Logan leapt out of it, grunting when his ankle snapped, making him roll on the ground. He crawled over to me before reaching out to touch my face.
“Hold on, Annie,” he pleaded. “Help is on the way.”
I met his eyes sadly, knowing that this was how I died. I closed my eyes as regret filled me over the fact that the last thing I had done was beg my fated mate to accept my rejection. I was going to die, and I would never be able to tell him how much he truly meant to me. A sense of peace filled me as he spoke, allowing me to let go freely as I heard his voice for the last time.
“Just hang on, Annie. Help is coming. Hold on for me. I love you.”
One final tear rolled down my face as I prayed that he heard my last thought. *‘I love you too, Logan.’*
