Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Fernandez's face was a mask of fury, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity that made Anna take a step back. His jaw was clenched, his teeth gritted, and his nostrils flared with rage. The veins on his neck bulged, and his skin was red with anger. He seemed to be trembling with fury, his whole body radiating a sense of barely contained violence.
"So, you've been snooping around my study," he growled, his voice low and menacing, like a predator about to pounce. His words were laced with venom, and his tone was dripping with malice.
Anna felt a surge of fear as Fernandez's anger seemed to grow, his eyes flashing with fury. He strode towards her, his long legs eating up the distance, his fists balled at his sides. His anger was like a palpable force, a living thing that filled the room and made Anna feel small and vulnerable.
"You have no right to pry into my private life," he snarled, his voice rising to a crescendo. His words were like a whip, lashing out at Anna with a fierce intensity.
Anna cowered back, feeling a sense of dread wash over her. She knew she had made a mistake, and now she was facing the consequences. Fernandez's anger was like a storm, raging out of control, and Anna was caught in its path.
Anna pleaded with Fernandez, "Please, I didn't mean to intrude. I'll never do it again."
But Fernandez was beyond reason. "You have no idea what you've done," he warned, his voice cold and menacing. "Stay out of my private life, Anna. Or face the consequences."
With that, he turned and stormed out of the room, leaving Anna in tears. She slipped away to her room, her neck throbbing in pain.
Fernandez was boiling in anger, his mind racing with thoughts of Anna's betrayal. He went to his room, slamming the door behind him, and started breaking things. He smashed a vase, a picture frame, and even his own fist into the wall.
"Why did she have to pry?" he growled to himself. "Can't she just leave me alone?"
Finally, exhausted and still fuming, Fernandez went to the drawer beside his bed and pulled out a tablet bottle. He took three tablets and swallowed them, hoping to calm his racing mind.
But despite the sleeping pills, Fernandez couldn't sleep. His mind was still racing with anger and betrayal.
Meanwhile, Anna was also struggling to sleep. Her neck was still painful, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of fear and regret. She got up and went to the kitchen to get an ice pack, which she applied to her neck. Later, she returned to bed, but sleep eluded her.
As the night wore on, Fernandez's anger slowly gave way to regret. He realized he had overreacted, but his pride wouldn't let him apologize. Anna, on the other hand, was left to wonder what she had done to deserve such treatment.
Next morning, Anna didn't come down for breakfast, and Fernandez didn't notice. He wasn't a breakfast person, just coffee. As he was about to leave for work, Nanny called him.
"Fernandez, dear, what's going on between you and Anna? She hasn't come down for breakfast."
Fernandez sighed, knowing he had to face the consequences of his actions. He took the breakfast tray and grabbed an ice pack from the fridge. He headed to Anna's room, not bothering to knock.
As he entered, Anna was just coming out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel. She glared at him, her eyes flashing with anger.
"Don't you have manners? Knocking is necessary before entering someone's room!"
Fernandez raised an eyebrow, his expression unrepentant. "I don't think I'm supposed to be knocking before entering my wife's room."
Anna's face reddened, her voice rising. "Your wife? You've been treating me like a prisoner, not a wife!"
Fernandez walked closer, his eyes locked on hers. "I brought you breakfast and an ice pack for your neck. I assume it's still sore."
Anna's gaze faltered, her anger momentarily replaced by surprise. But she quickly regained her composure.
"I don't want your breakfast or your ice pack. Just leave me alone."
Fernandez set the tray down and handed her the ice pack. "Use it. You need it."
With that, he turned and left the room, leaving Anna feeling frustrated and confused.
Anna ate the breakfast, savoring the taste of the scrambled eggs and toast. She then dressed up formally, choosing a crisp white blouse with a fitted waist and a pencil skirt that fell just above her knees. Her dark hair was pulled back into a sleek bun, and she wore minimal makeup, accentuating her natural beauty. She slipped on a pair of low heels, completing her professional look.
As she came downstairs, she greeted Nanny warmly. "Good morning, Granny. I'm off to Smith & Co. Wish me luck!"
Nanny smiled, her eyes twinkling. "You don't need luck, dear. You're capable and talented. Just be yourself."
Anna smiled, feeling a surge of confidence. She checked her watch and saw that Fernandez had already left for work. She hailed a cab and headed to Smith & Co., feeling excited and nervous about her first day.
As the cab drove through the bustling streets, Anna took a deep breath, preparing herself for the challenges ahead. She was determined to make a good impression and prove herself in her new role.
