Chapter 54
Chapter 54
Fernandez settled into bed, his mind still reeling from the events of the evening. "So foolish!" he exclaimed, shaking his head in disbelief at Anna's attempts to protect Reyna. He tucked himself under the duvet, his eyes drifting shut.
Meanwhile, Anna had finished her meal and was lingering in the dining room, avoiding Fernandez's potential wrath. She decided to check on Reyna, helping her remove her makeup and settling her in for the night. Finally, she made her way to Fernandez's room, tiptoeing to avoid waking him.
As she approached the bed, she saw that Fernandez's eyes were closed, his breathing slow and silent. She sighed in relief and settled into her side of the bed, reaching for the duvet. But just as she did, Fernandez sat up suddenly, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"Get your things ready, you're going with me on a business trip tomorrow," he announced, his voice low and husky.
Anna's eyes widened in shock, and she sat up, her heart racing. "Why? Am I your assistant? I don't want to go on a business trip with you," she said, her voice laced with anger.
Fernandez's gaze drifted to her pouted lips, and for a moment, he seemed lost in thought. Then, his expression snapped back into focus. "It seems you've forgotten, because of your one-day absence, that you are my personal assistant!" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Anna rolled her eyes and turned away, her voice dripping with disdain. "Whatever!"
Fernandez chuckled, the sound low and menacing. "We'll leave at 8 am sharp. Don't be late."
Reyna woke up to a pounding headache, her temples throbbing in agony. She slowly sat up, rubbing her eyes, trying to shake off the haze of the previous night's escapades. As she remembered the fun she had with Sophia and the others, a chuckle escaped her lips.
Just then, a glass of lemonade appeared in front of her, and she gratefully accepted it, gulping down the refreshing drink. "Thank you!" she said, her voice still husky from sleep.
But her gratitude was short-lived, as Fernandez's sarcastic voice cut through the air. "Of course!"
Reyna's eyes widened in fear as she saw her brother standing in the doorway, his arms crossed and a stern expression on his face. "Where did you go yesterday?" he demanded.
Reyna's mind went blank, and she stuttered, "I-I went to visit my friends...and we had a get-together yesterday."
Anna, who had been watching from the sidelines, stepped into the room, trying to intervene. But Fernandez was relentless.
"Do you both think I'm foolish? Since the night you snuck out to the club without informing anyone, I've assigned Mia to monitor your movements. I know exactly where you went yesterday."
Reyna's eyes met Anna's, and they both knew they were caught. Fernandez's words were laced with a mixture of anger and disappointment.
Reyna rubbed her brow, a habit she had when she was flustered. "Bro...brother...I...I..."
Fernandez cut her off, his voice firm. "Don't stutter, Reyna. You've been saying I didn't allow you to fulfill your dreams, but now I'll give you the chance. You can be an assistant to Leonardo Rossi or whoever you want, but on one condition: either take Mia as your bodyguard or go back to New York."
With that, he turned and left the room, leaving Reyna and Anna in stunned silence.
Anna stormed out of Reyna's room, her anger and frustration boiling over. She followed Fernandez to his room, where he was typing away on his laptop, seemingly oblivious to her presence.
"Have you gone mad?" Anna demanded, her voice shaking with rage. "How can you say that to your sister? Why can't you let her fulfill the dream she's always wanted to fulfill?"
Fernandez didn't even flinch, his fingers flying across the keyboard. Anna's anger reached a boiling point, and she slammed the laptop shut, throwing it onto the bed.
Fernandez finally looked up, his eyes flashing with anger. "Why should I listen to you when you disrupt me from my work?" he shouted.
Anna stood her ground, her voice matching his in intensity. "Don't shout at me, I've had enough of this! Why in the world would you give such an option to your sister? This is not right!"
The room fell silent, Fernandez's gaze piercing through Anna. She finally turned and left, feeling defeated.
But she returned later, her demeanor changed. She closed the laptop gently and sighed, her voice softening. "Fernandez, please...Reyna really wants to fulfill her dream. Please let her. I'm begging you."
Fernandez looked up, his expression unreadable. But then, he spoke, his voice firm. "It's 30 minutes to 8 am. Go and get ready for our trip."
Anna's confusion turned to joy as she realized what he meant. She hurried out of the room, eager to share the news with Reyna that Fernandez had agreed to let her pursue her dream.
"Reyna, Reyna! Guess what?" Anna exclaimed, bursting into Reyna's room. "Fernandez has agreed to let you fulfill your dream! He's going to let you be an assistant to Leonardo Rossi!"
Reyna's face lit up, her eyes shining with tears. "Really? Oh, Anna, thank you!"
"Go and get ready now, it's almost time," Anna said, her voice filled with excitement. "You know it's your first day as an assistant to Leonardo Rossi. Make a good impression!"
Reyna nodded, her face still beaming with joy. "I won't let you down, Anna. Thanks for convincing Fernandez to let me do this."
Anna smiled and hugged Reyna. "I knew he'd come around. Now, hurry up and get dressed. You don't want to be late for your first day."
Reyna rushed to the closet, pulling out a sleek black dress and heels. Anna helped her with her hair and makeup, and soon Reyna looked polished and professional.
Meanwhile, Anna got ready for the business trip with Fernandez, choosing a simple yet elegant outfit. She grabbed her bag and met Fernandez in the hallway.
"Ready?" Fernandez asked, his expression stern as usual.
Anna nodded, and they headed downstairs. Reyna joined them, looking confident and determined.
"Good luck, Reyna," Anna said, giving her a hug. "You'll do great."
Fernandez nodded curtly. "We'll be back soon. Mia will be with you, so don't worry."
Reyna smiled, waving as Anna and Fernandez left for their trip. She took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves as she headed out to start her new journey with Leonardo Rossi.
