Chapter 81

Chapter 81

"Sir, the footage has been successfully revived," Cat announced, her eyes shining with respect for Fernandez.

Fernandez's expression remained steadfast, but his clenched fist betrayed his inner turmoil. "Connect it to the projector and let's see it clearly."

Cat nodded and swiftly linked the laptop to the projector screen.

The room fell silent, all eyes fixed on the projector as the footage began.

The video showed a suspicious man, his face obscured, slipping into the estate amidst the chaos of Fernandez's return with Anna from the hospital.

Fernandez's jaw tightened as he relived the moment he'd pecked Anna's forehead, where he had got carried away.

The video continued, revealing the man receiving a call. Cat swiftly typed on her computer, rewinding the footage.

"Enhance audio," Fernandez ordered.

Cat worked her magic, and the conversation became audible.

"...she's mine...no one else deserves her...I'll do whatever it takes..." the man's voice dripped with obsession.

Fernandez's eyes narrowed. "Stop the video and zoom in on his face."

Cat complied, and the projector screen displayed the man's masked face.

Fernandez's gaze intensified, his mind racing. Something about the man seemed familiar.

"Remove the mask, enhance the image," Fernandez commanded.

Cat's fingers flew across the keyboard.

The projector screen flickered, revealing the man's face.

Fernandez's eyes widened, shock etched on his face.

"Stop here," Fernandez ordered.

The room held its breath, sensing the storm brewing within Fernandez.

Fernandez's eyes locked onto the screen, his expression incredulous. "Alex Johnson," he muttered, his voice laced with disdain.

Cat's gaze met Fernandez's. "You know him, sir?"

Fernandez's jaw clenched. "He was Anna's boss. She worked for him secretly, against my wishes."

Reena's eyes widened. "And he?"

Fernandez's tone turned cold. "He wanted her. Plotted against us. I bankrupted him."

The video continued, revealing Alex's cunning plan. He knocked out the driver, donned the uniform, and deceived Anna.

Fernandez's clenched fist trembled with rage as Anna questioned Alex, unaware of the danger lurking beneath his deceitful smile.

Alex's lie about having a cough fooled Anna, and she even showed concern.

"Naive," Fernandez whispered, his eyes blazing. "She didn't see the evil staring her in the face."

As the video ended, the room fell silent.

Cat spoke up. "We'll track Alex's location, sir. We'll find Anna."

Fernandez's gaze never left the screen, his mind racing with strategies.

Reena stepped forward, her voice laced with determination. "We'll get Anna back, Fernandez."

Fernandez's eyes locked onto Reena's, a glimmer of gratitude flickering within.

"We will," he vowed, his voice low and deadly.

Anna's eyes drooped, her exhausted body screaming for rest. But she dared not sleep, not with her captor's menacing presence lingering nearby. Her wrists and ankles remained bound to the chair.

The door burst open, and the masked man strode in, his eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity. He held a plate of steaming spaghetti.

"Hello, my love," he crooned, his voice dripping with sickening sweetness. "I brought your favorite food. You must be starving, carrying our baby and all."

Anna's eyes widened in horror. "Our baby?" she repeated, incredulous. "You're insane. This baby is mine and Fernandez's."

The man's smile never wavered. "Don't play games, Anna. You know you're meant to be mine. And our child...our beautiful child." His gaze drifted to her belly, his eyes burning with obsession.

Anna's stomach churned, revulsion mixing with hunger. "Who are you?" she demanded, her voice trembling.

The man chuckled, setting the plate before her. "Eat, my love. You need your strength for our future together." He leaned in, his breath hot against Anna's ear. "I've dreamed of this moment for so long."

Anna shuddered, her heart racing with fear. "Let me go!" she pleaded.

The man's laughter sent chills down her spine. "You're mine, Anna. Forever." His eyes locked onto hers, burning with an unholy obsession.

Anna's mind reeled, her thoughts tangled in fear and despair. Where was Fernandez? Why hadn't he come for her?

As the man's gaze continued to bore into hers, Anna's resolve crumbled. Tears streamed down her face, her body shaking with sobs.

As tears streaked down Anna's eyes, his eyes widened and he hurriedly dropped the plate of spaghetti on the table nearby.

"Please, don't cry," he implored, his voice laced with desperation.

He rushed to Anna and started using his hand to wipe her tears.

"It's okay, my love. Don't cry. Our baby will also feel sad," he whispered, his breath hot against her ear.

As he was whispering to her, Anna's tears didn't stop, and suddenly he slapped her cheek in anger.

His face turned red, and Anna shivered in fear, shock written all over her face.

"How dare you try to act despite my earnest pleading," he pointed a finger at her. "If you aren't hungry, then don't starve my baby."

More tears fell from Anna's eyes, and blood oozed from her lips, now swollen and tender.

His eyes slowly returned to normal, and his eyes widened after seeing what he had done to Anna.

"Oh, Anna, forgive me," he pleaded, dropping to his knees.

He started slapping his cheek furiously.

"I shouldn't have slapped you. Please forgive me. It won't happen again, Anna."

Anna couldn't believe what was happening. Was the man suffering from a split personality? How could his behavior change so drastically?

As he was still slapping himself, his phone rang. He brought out his phone and answered the call.

It was the same person, his spy.

As he listened to the person, his eyes widened in fear and terror.

"What do you mean?" he stammered.

Anna watched him, thinking about what could have made him so afraid.

The man hung up his phone and opened the second door in the room.

He looked back at Anna and said to her, "I'm coming back for you and our baby, my love. Bye for now."

He left hurriedly.

Before Anna could comprehend what had happened, the door burst open.

The first person Anna saw was Fernandez.

"Anna!" Fernandez exclaimed.

He rushed to her and swiftly untied her.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

Anna nodded.

"Who did this to you?" Fernandez demanded.

Anna pointed to the door.

"The man," she whispered.

Fernandez's face darkened.

"I'll find him," he vowed.

As Fernandez lifted Anna into his arms, she felt safe again.

"Thank you," she whispered.

"I'll always find you," Fernandez promised.
