Chapter 78

Chapter 78
Anna gazed out the sedan's tinted window, her voice clear and firm. "Take me to Antonio's company!"
The driver's silence sparked unease. Anna repeated herself, louder this time, but the driver remained still, his eyes fixed on the road.
As the sedan veered off the familiar route, Anna's heart skipped a beat. The speedometer needle climbed, and the cityscape blurred outside.
"Where are you heading to? This is not the way to Antonio's company!" Anna's shout pierced the air, her voice laced with panic.
The driver's smirk sent a chill down her spine. His eyes locked onto hers in the rearview mirror, gleaming with malice. "You may never know, this route could also lead there."
Anna's eyes widened in shock. This person wasn't their driver. "You are not our driver! Who are you?" she demanded, fear creeping into her voice.
The driver's mechanical tone sent shivers down her spine. "You really don't want to know, baby."
Anna's gaze dropped to the driver's hands, noticing the voice changer on his wrist. Her mind racing, she reached for her phone to call Fernandez.
Before she could dial, the driver snatched the phone. "Want to blow my cover to your monster husband? Absolutely not, love."
Anna's face flushed with anger. "How dare you snatch away my phone? Give it back, you bastard!" she screamed, slamming her fist against the seat.
The driver's expression remained impassive, his eyes fixed on the road. "Don't stress yourself out, baby; you're pregnant."
Anna's breath caught. How did this stranger know her secret?
She forced herself to calm down, reasoning that he might be a thief seeking ransom. "Why did you kidnap me? Are you one of Fernandez's rivals?"
The driver's smile twisted. "No, no, ain't trading you for anything!"
Anna's sweat-drenched palm wiped across her forehead. "Why don't you go and look for him personally? Please, just leave me."
He shook his head, his eyes glinting with amusement. "No."
The man didn't heed Anna's words, continuing to drive recklessly. "Someone save me, I've been kidnapped!" Anna shouted, clutching her pregnant belly helplessly.
He switched to automatic driving and turned to face Anna, his eyes cold and menacing. Anna felt a chill run down her spine.
"Don't come closer to me, move back!" she stuttered, shifting away from him.
Before Anna knew it, she felt a sharp prick in her arm. She opened her mouth to scream, but her body felt light, and her words slurred.
The man muttered, "So noisy," and removed his mask, revealing a chiseled face with piercing blue eyes. He gently laid Anna's head on the seat, ensuring she was comfortable.
Two hours later, Fernandez arrived home from work, expecting to see Anna in the living room. But she was nowhere to be found.
He shrugged and thought maybe she was in their bedroom. Climbing the stairs, he walked towards their room, unlocking the door to find Anna absent.
His brow furrowed in irritation as he searched the restroom and kitchen, but Anna was nowhere to be seen.
The maid, Maria, trembled as Fernandez approached her. "Where is my wife?" he demanded, his voice cold and intimidating.
Maria stuttered, "I...I don't know where Madam is."
Fernandez's gaze pierced Maria, his eyes narrowing. "What do you mean by you don't know where the Madam is?"
Maria's legs shook, and tears welled up in her eyes. "I really don't have any idea, sir."
Fernandez's face darkened, his jaw clenched. "Everyone, come out here!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the mansion.
The servants lined up, cowering in fear. Alexandra, who had been napping, rushed out, concern etched on her face.
Reyna, returning from work, sensed the tense atmosphere. "What's going on?" she asked, approaching the anxious group.
Fernandez's voice boomed, "Where the hell is my wife?" The room fell silent, the only sound the heavy breathing of the frightened staff.
But Fernandez's anger had reached a boiling point. "Someone must know something. Speak up, or face the consequences!
Reyna's concern deepened as she heard Anna wasn't home. "But I saw her earlier when I came home for lunch," she thought aloud.
Alexandra stepped forward, her voice trembling. "Fernandez, didn't you come back home with Anna?"
Fernandez's glare cut through Alexandra, his eyes threatening. "What do you mean she didn't come home with me? Did Anna follow me out?" His sarcasm dripped with venom.
Alexandra shivered, her eyes fixed on Fernandez's intense gaze. "You forgot a file at home, and Anna left to give it to you."
Fernandez's fist slammed into the wall, the sound echoing through the room. The staff cowered, Reyna's anxiety spiking.
"And you let her leave alone, knowing she's pregnant?" Fernandez's voice boomed, his face inches from Alexandra's.
Alexandra stuttered, fear etched on her face. "I was going to come, but she insisted."
Fernandez's knuckles bled, his anger raging. He clapped thrice, a cold smile twisting his lips. "What a wonderful cousin you are. Is this your way of staying here to take care of Anna, But let me warn you: if anything happens to Anna, you're done for."
Reyna intervened, her voice calm. "Fernandez, please calm down. We can't find Anna like this."
Fernandez's expression softened slightly, his chest heaving.
Reyna dialed Anna's number, but it was switched off. Fernandez called Anna's mother, his questions urgent.
"I haven't seen Anna," her mother replied.
Fernandez's anger resurfaced, slamming a glass cup against the wall. He grabbed his laptop, frantically searching the CCTV footage.
But the screens stared back, blank.
"Who dare to play with Antonio Fernandez?" he roared, flinging his laptop across the room.
The staff cowered, Reyna's eyes locked on her brother's furious face.
"We need to find Anna, now," Reyna urged.
Fernandez's gaze snapped to his phone and he dialed Mr. Thompson's number. "Get the best men for me and hacker ready. My wife is missing and I need her back unharmed before twenty four hours."
"Alright sir. I will get to it right now." Mr. Thompson's voice came at the other end.
