Chapter 57

Chapter 57
Anna's eyes locked onto Soraya's, her mind racing with questions. Who was this woman, and why did she seem to hold such power over Fernandez? As they disengaged from the hug, Soraya's gaze swept over Anna, her eyes lingering on every feature.

A sly smirk spread across Soraya's lips, and she raised an eyebrow. "So, she's your wife," Soraya said, her voice dripping with condescension. "Well, she looks...ordinary."

Anna's cheeks flushed with surprise and annoyance. Why would this woman belittle her appearance like that? She sensed a strange vibe emanating from Soraya, a mix of hostility and flirtation.

Soraya's attention shifted to Fernandez, her smile widening into a dazzling grin. "Anyway, you're welcome to my hotel, Burj Al Arab! You won't regret coming here, Fernandez." Her voice was husky, her eyes sparkling with a hint of seduction.

Fernandez's expression remained neutral, but Anna detected a flicker of tension in his jaw. She wondered if he was aware of Soraya's crush on him, and if so, why he didn't address it.

"Thank you, Soraya," Fernandez replied, his tone polite but reserved. "Your hospitality is legendary."

Soraya's laughter was like music, her eyes never leaving Fernandez's face. "I'll make sure to show you the best of Dubai, Fernandez. And your...wife, of course."

Anna's instincts screamed warning signals. She didn't trust Soraya, and she sensed that this woman would stop at nothing to get what she wanted – Fernandez's attention, and perhaps even his heart.

Soraya led them through the opulent lobby, her heels clicking on the marble floor. "I've prepared two suites for you and Anna, what do you think?" She smiled, her eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief.

Anna's eyes widened in surprise. What did Soraya mean by two suites? She glanced at Fernandez, but his expression was unreadable.

As they walked, Anna noticed Soraya subtly adjusting her hair, drawing attention to her cleavage. Her outfit was a revealing yet professional red dress, showcasing her curves. Anna sensed Fernandez's discomfort, his eyes darting away from Soraya's display.

Fernandez pulled Anna closer, his hand wrapping around her waist. "We don't need two suites, one is enough for my beautiful wife and I," he said, his voice low and possessive.

Anna's heart skipped a beat as Fernandez's fingers brushed against her skin. She felt a flutter in her chest, unsure how to react to this sudden display of affection.

Fernandez shifted a strand of Anna's hair behind her ear, his touch sending shivers down her spine. "Am I right, baby?" he asked, his eyes locked onto hers.

Anna's cheeks flushed, but she played along, smiling up at him. "Of course, lead us to our suite, Soraya."

Soraya's eyes flickered, her gaze lingering on Fernandez's hand on Anna's waist. For a moment, Anna saw a flash of jealousy, but then Soraya laughed, the sound ringing out across the lobby. "Yes, let's go. I'll show you to your suite."

As they followed Soraya, Anna sensed the tension between her and Fernandez. She wondered what secrets lay beneath the surface, and what Soraya's true intentions were.

The suite was a masterpiece of luxury, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of the Dubai skyline. The walls were adorned with priceless artwork, and the furniture was crafted from the finest Italian leather. A private balcony led to an infinity pool, and a personal butler was on call to cater to their every whim.

As soon as Soraya left, Anna's demeanor changed. She began to unpack her clothes with a vengeance, slamming them into the closet with a ferocity that made Fernandez raise an eyebrow.

"What's wrong, Anna?" he asked, his voice calm and measured, as he worked on securing his important files in the safe.

Anna didn't respond, her silence punctuated by the rustling of clothes and the slamming of drawers. Fernandez noticed her behavior, his eyes narrowing as he realized she was taking out her frustration on the innocent clothes.

This time, he asked in a more authoritative tone, "What's wrong, Anna?"

Anna stopped arranging her clothes, her scowl deepening as she turned to face him. "Did I say something was wrong?" she snapped, her voice laced with defiance.

Fernandez's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze piercing. "You didn't have to," he replied, his voice low and even. "Your behavior says it all."

Anna's cheeks flushed, her eyes flashing with anger. She knew she couldn't hide her true feelings from Fernandez, but she was determined to try.

Anna's anger finally boiled over, and she vented her frustration. "What if my behavior says it all? Why did we even come to this hotel?"

Fernandez's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing as he tried to read through her. "And what's wrong with this hotel?"

Anna's lips clamped shut, her mind racing with reasons she couldn't voice. Why was she even talking to this man?

Fernandez's eyes flickered to hers, and he smirked, his lips curling up. "Don't tell me you're jealous?"

He moved closer, his steps deliberate, and Anna retreated, her cheeks flushing red. Her back hit the wall, and Fernandez enclosed her, his eyes locked on her lips.

"You haven't answered my question, are you feeling jealous?" he whispered, his breath caressing her skin.

Anna's eyes darted away, unable to maintain contact with his flirtatious gaze. She stuttered, "W-why would I feel jealous? We aren't even a real couple."

Fernandez's hands wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer. His lips inches from hers, he whispered, "Maybe you're more invested than you think."

Just as their lips almost touched, the door burst open, and Soraya entered, her eyes widening at the scene before her. "Sorry for the interruption, guys, but I have something to discuss with Fernandez."

Anna felt awkward, her face burning with embarrassment. Fernandez released her, his expression neutral, but his eyes still sparkling with amusement. "Of course, Soraya. Let's talk."
