Chapter 74
Chapter 74
One month later
"Are you sure you're still capable?" the mysterious girl hissed into the phone, her voice dripping with malice. "Everything is going perfectly well between them, and it's been a month now? Do you like how peaceful things are? It's been a whole fucking one month."
The person on the other end chuckled maniacally. "Do you think I fucking enjoy being apart from her? And since a month has passed, I think it's high time I paid a visit to my love."
The girl's laughter sent shivers down her spine. "She'll be mine! She'll be mine!" The person at the other end shouted crazily, like a psychopath.
The girl's smirk grew wider as she replied, "Sure, she's yours, and Fernandez will be mine."
Just then, she heard a footstep and quickly disconnected the call. "Who's there?" she shouted, leaving the balcony, but the person had already vanished into thin air.
Meanwhile, Anna snored lightly, her parted lips and peaceful expression a stark contrast to the sinister conversation that had just taken place. Her hair was scattered across her face, and her hand protectively clutched her little bump. Fernandez entered the room, fresh from his morning jog, and gazed at Anna with a tender smile.
He couldn't resist the urge to touch her belly, feeling an overwhelming sense of love and connection to their unborn child. His hand felt itchy all of a sudden, and he felt the need to feel and talk to his baby. He often secretly touched the baby bump when she was too deep in sleep because he couldn't actually believe a little child of his was inside her.
As he approached Anna, his eyes locked onto her serene face, and his cold heart immediately melted. His green eyes stirred with happiness, and he breathed heavily, finally placing his hand on her belly.
Anna, who was starting to awake, couldn't help but feel the weight of a big palm on her stomach, and she didn't even need anyone to tell her that it was Fernandez. She smirked internally without opening her eyes, thinking, "Today, I'm going to let him know that I've caught him red-handed."
Fernandez's eyes sparkled with delight as he whispered, "Good morning, little one." He has always thought that Anna wasn't aware whenever he touched her stomach or talked to the baby, but she clearly knew everything and pretended she wasn't awake.
Everything had been going smoothly between them, and it had been a whole month with Fernandez without a fight. He had accepted that she didn't abort the baby and had also been talking to the baby a lot. Anna couldn't help but think that this Fernandez was much better.
As Anna's eyes fluttered open, they met Fernandez's gaze, and he hastily withdrew his hand as if it was never there before. "What are you doing," Anna teased, her voice husky from sleep.
Fernandez's face flushed, but he couldn't help but mask his nervousness with a stern face. "I was just... uh... checking the baby," he stammered.
Anna chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Oh, I see!"
Fernandez cleared his throat, "I just want to remind you to quickly get ready for the doctor's appointment." His voice was gentle, but laced with a hint of concern.
Anna sat up from the bed, stretching her arms above her head. "Of course, I will never forget the doctor's appointment. I will quickly get ready." She replied, entering into the bathroom with a spring in her step.
As she rushed away, Fernandez couldn't help but gasp. He wanted to warn her to be careful, but instead, he said, "Be fast, because I will be dropping you off there."
After Anna got ready, she went downstairs with Fernandez, who was also ready. The morning sunlight streaming through the windows highlighted the warmth in his eyes as he gazed at her.
"Good morning everyone." Anna greeted cheerfully, settling down on the dining chair. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and toasted bread filled the air, making her stomach growl with hunger.
Fernandez's cousin, Alessandra, was also seated, sipping her tea with a gentle smile. It had been a week since Rosario, Fernandez's father, had left due to important business, but Alessandra had stayed behind to take care of Anna until she delivered the baby.
Reyna, who was coming from the room already dressed, pecked Anna on the cheek and smiled at her, "Good morning to you too, Anna. How is my little niece?" Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she gazed at Anna's growing belly.
Then she looked toward her brother, "Good morning, brother." Fernandez only responded with a nod, his eyes fixed on Anna.
Anna didn't know why, but Reyna had been claiming that the baby was going to be a girl. "Your niece is fine, Reyna. What about you?" Anna asked, taking a bite of her toast.
Reyna sighed, her shoulders sagging slightly. "Well, Leonardo Rossi is a very good boss, but his manager, Bianca, is still a pain in my ass." Her voice was laced with frustration.
Fernandez's eyes flickered, he had heard of Bianca Giulia, Leonardo Rossi's assistant. The lady was rude and obsessed with Leonardo. He looked at Reyna, "Do you want me to take care of her?"
Reyna quickly looked at her brother, her eyes wide with alarm. "No, no, no. I don't want something like that, brother. I will work hard by myself."
Anna held Reyna's hand, her voice soothing. "Don't worry, everything will be fine."
Reyna smiled and grabbed a toast bread, muttering with a full mouth, "Of course, I'm Reyna, and no one can defeat me." She grabbed the mug and drank the tea before rushing out.
As she ran hurriedly, Anna called, "At least finish your breakfast, Reyna."
Reyna didn't wait, her heel clicking on the marbled floor hurriedly, "No, no, no, I've had enough, and Leonardo really has a busy schedule.... I will eat there, and don't forget to take care of yourself and my niece."
Anna smiled happily, feeling grateful for Reyna's presence in her life. She was a good friend and a sister-in-law.
"Good morning, Anna, how are you?" Alessandra asked with a smile while looking at Anna.
"Of course, I'm fine. How are you too?" Anna asked, returning her smile.
"I'm fine, you extremely treat me. You and brother accepted me. It's good. I'm just only sad because Reyna didn't like me," Alessandra said, her voice tinged with sadness.
"She's been like that since the first time she saw me since we were kids." Alessandra sighed.
Anna patted Alessandra's shoulder, her voice reassuring. "Don't feel sad, you are a great person. I'm sure Reyna will come around."
Alessandra waved it away with a smile. "It's okay. Let's dine into the delicious food."
Fernandez just sat down, gazing at the two and eating his food. He didn't know why Reyna didn't like Alessandra, but he wasn't getting a bad vibe from her. That's why he let her stay.
As they continued eating, a knock came on the door, and they stopped mid-bite. Anna sighed, wondering if Reyna had forgotten something and she come back for it. Alessandra stood up with a smile, her chair scraping against the floor. "I will get it," she said, her voice cheerful.
