Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Anna's face burned with embarrassment, her cheeks flushing a deep crimson as she quickly moved away from Fernandez, her eyes cast down at the floor. She felt like she'd been caught in a compromising position, even though she knew it was all just an act. Her heart still raced from the proximity to Fernandez, and her skin tingled where his hands had touched her waist.
Fernandez's expression remained neutral, but his eyes still sparkled with amusement, his gaze lingering on Anna's flustered face. He turned to Soraya, his movements fluid and graceful. "Of course, Soraya. Let's talk. What is it?" His deep voice was even, but his eyes still crinkled at the corners, betraying his humor.
Soraya's gaze flickered between Fernandez and Anna, her scowl deepening. Her eyes narrowed, her eyebrows slashing downwards, and her lips compressing into a thin line. "Will you please excuse us, Anna?" she asked, her voice dripping with insincerity, her tone sweet as honey but laced with venom.
Anna's anger flared at the audacity of the woman. Who did she think she was, asking her to excuse them so she could talk to her own husband? Anna stood up, her movements stiff with indignation, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. Her eyes flashed with anger, her voice icy. "Excuse you?" Anna repeated, her tone dripping with disdain.
Soraya's smile faltered for a moment, her eyes flashing with irritation, before she recovered. "Well, yes. We have business to discuss, Fernandez and I." Her voice was tight with annoyance, her words clipped.
Anna's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing. "I'm sure you do." She turned on her heel, her long hair swinging behind her, and stalked to the other side of the room, her heart pounding with anger and humiliation. Her heels clicked on the marble floor, echoing through the room.
Fernandez's expression transformed, his face now a cold, stoic mask, chiseled from granite. His eyes narrowed, and his voice dripped with frost, like a winter's night. "What do you want to discuss?" He muttered, his tone icy, his words clipped.
Soraya noticed the change in Fernandez's demeanor and shivered slightly, her facade smile faltering. She attempted to recover, her voice dripping with false sweetness, like honey laced with poison. "It's been so long, we've got to catch up, Fernandez, don't you think?" She cooed, her eyes batting innocently.
Fernandez's impatience grew, his voice laced with venom, his words biting. "What do you want to say, Soraya?" He snapped, his eyes flashing with annoyance, his jaw clenched.
Soraya's lips twitched, and she spoke, her voice laced with malice, her words dripping with spite. "Don't you think it's been so long? If you hadn't come here for a business trip, you wouldn't have come here, and then you brought...that girl with you." She sneered, her eyes rolling in disdain.
Fernandez's face darkened, his voice dripping with venom, his words low and deadly. "Antonio Anna is my wife, not some girl." He growled, his eyes flashing with anger, his fists clenched.
Anna, who had been watching from across the room, felt a shiver run down her spine, like a cold breeze on a winter's night. Why was Fernandez standing up for her? It must be because of reputation, she thought, her mind racing. No one wanted anyone to speak ill of their spouse.
Soraya, sensing the situation was about to escalate, raised her hands in a surrendering manner, like a white flag. "Okay, let's get down to business." Her voice was laced with relief, her shoulders sagging.
Fernandez finally relaxed, his expression softening slightly, like the thawing of ice. "Okay." His voice was still cold, but his anger seemed to have dissipated, like mist in the morning sun.
Soraya released a deep sigh, her shoulders sagging in relief, like a weight had been lifted. The tension in the room was palpable, but it seemed the storm had passed...for now.
Soraya leaned forward, her eyes locking onto Fernandez's with an intensity that bordered on desperation. Her voice took on a persuasive tone, like a skilled saleswoman closing in on a deal. "What I'm saying is that since you deal in real estate, I need a place to build another hotel. I'm thinking of a prime location, somewhere with high foot traffic and a growing demand for luxury accommodations."
Fernandez steepled his fingers, his expression thoughtful, like a chess player contemplating his next move. His eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing as he considered Soraya's proposal.
Anna watched from across the room, her irritation growing with each passing minute. She had been waiting for Fernandez to finish his meeting for what felt like an eternity, and she was getting tired of being ignored. Her feet tapped impatiently on the floor, her eyes flashing with annoyance.
Finally, she strode out of the room, her heels clicking on the floor like a ticking time bomb. "Fernandez, please, if you're done talking, can you come and help me with my zip? I'm not able to change out of it." Her voice was laced with a hint of frustration, her eyes pleading for attention.
Fernandez's eyes flickered, his gaze darkening for a moment like a storm cloud gathering on the horizon. What was his little rabbit up to now? He raised an eyebrow, his expression intrigued.
Soraya's face turned black with irritation, her eyes flashing with anger like a wildfire raging out of control. "Anna, I can help you with that. We're both women, after all." Her voice was laced with condescension, her tone dripping with false sweetness.
Anna couldn't help but praise Soraya for her cunningness. She knew exactly what she was doing, trying to insert herself into Anna's personal space like a snake slithering into its prey's nest.
Anna gave Soraya a fake smile, her eyes glinting with warning like a knife flashing in the sunlight. "You don't need to, Soraya. I've just met you, and I don't really relate to strangers. And this isn't the first time Fernandez has done this." Her voice was laced with a hint of possessiveness, her tone staking her claim on Fernandez like a territorial animal marking its territory.
She turned to Fernandez, her gaze locking onto his like a magnet. "Fernandez, please. I need your help." Her voice was laced with a hint of desperation, her eyes pleading for attention.
Fernandez watched the exchange between the two women, a hint of a smile playing on his lips like a maestro conducting a symphony. He liked the way Anna was acting possessive, staking her claim on him like a queen claiming her king.
"Soraya, you can leave. Anna is right, let me help her with her zip." His voice was firm, his tone commanding like a general dismissing his troops.
Soraya's face fell, her eyes narrowing like a defeated opponent conceding the game. She knew she had been dismissed, and she didn't like it. "We'll talk later, Fernandez. I'll be going." Her voice was laced with a hint of resentment, her tone dripping with disappointment.
Fernandez nodded, his eyes never leaving Anna's face like a hawk focusing on its prey. "I'm looking forward to it, Soraya. Have a good day." His voice was laced with a hint of sarcasm, his tone dripping with dismissal.
As soon as Soraya left, Fernandez turned to Anna, his eyes glinting with mischief like a cat stalking its prey. "Now, let me help you with that zip, my dear." His voice was laced with a hint of seduction, his tone dripping with promise.
