Chapter 92
Chapter 92
Fernandez sat sunken in his office, and seven months had passed since Anna left, the weight of his loneliness bearing down on him like a physical force. Anna's frame right on his table stared deeply at him, a constant reminder of his loss, and the ache in his heart felt like an open wound.
There were several documents lined up in front of him, but his gaze drifted away, consumed by thoughts of her. Ever since Anna left, he has become rather miserable and exert himself over work, trying to fill the void left by her absence. He has growing stubble and he doesn't even remember when he has shave, a testament to his neglect of his own well-being. His eyes drifted away from Anna's frame, he scratched his stubble and let out a deep sigh, feeling the emptiness within.
His phone rang, and his nose scrunched up in frustration and irritation, the persistent ringing grating on his nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard. He picked up the call without checking the caller ID, and the irritating voice of his long-lost best buddy filled his ears. "Yo, what's up? Are you still sulking over being dump?" Fernandez couldn't help but tap his forehead in annoyance, Zane's words cutting deep into his already fragile emotions.
His subordinate didn't dare to bring the matter up unless when he brings it up, they walk on eggshells around him, afraid to trigger his temper.
His heart ached terribly as his best friend reminded him of his source of pain, he has looked everywhere for her for the last seven months but it's as if she has totally disappeared from the surface of the earth and he even started to doubt himself that was he powerful enough that he couldn't even get hold of the woman he loved. Yeah the woman he loved, he's been seeing a therapist and was made to know that his hatred for woman because of what his mother did has made him hate women and while trying to hate Anna, he has fallen deeply in love with her. Love generated from hate, did he really love Anna? He was still finding it difficult to digest.
"Is that all?" Fernandez's voice was cold, detached, and laced with a hint of anger. "No, no, no, I really call you for a good reason, don't hang up." Zane's words came out in rush from the other end, his desperation evident. "Since you don't have anything to do after work, why don't you let us hang out, I've open a club recently. Why don't we go there to have fun?" Fernandez felt a pang of hesitation, unsure if he was ready to let loose and have fun. "No, thanks." At the other end Zane let out a knowing sigh, his voice tinged with frustration.
"Common, you will grow grey hair sitting there and waiting for her and when she eventually come back she would not want you because you have grown old, when last have you even shave?" Zane tried to make the atmosphere less tense, but it seems his joke was only funny to himself. "Still no." Zane let out a defeated sigh, feeling pity for his friend. "Alright, then sit down there forever and suffer while she enjoys in wherever she is?" The call was disconnected with a beep sound, and Fernandez's mind lingered on Zane's last word, the sting of his words lingering.
"Enjoy?" He whispered rhetorically, the word echoing in his mind. Yes, she was clearly suffering and living in pain while with him and that's why she ran away from him. She must clearly be happy in wherever she is, and the thought filled him with a mix of emotions.
A knock came on his door, and he sat up with an anticipating gaze, Mr. Thompson must be here to give him information on Anna. "Come in." His voice came out louder than expected, and Mr. Thompson came in. He let out a respectful bow and looked up at Fernandez's face, his expression sympathetic. Fernandez gazed at Mr. Thompson with anticipation, hoping for some news that would bring him closer to finding Anna. "Sir, no traces were found, it seems someone help her to get away and she doesn't want to be found." Mr. Thompson's words crushed Fernandez, leaving him feeling defeated and helpless.
Fernandez let out a defeated sigh and a bitter smile. 'What's the usefulness of my money when I can't even find my wife with it, am I really powerful?' Mr. Thompson left reluctantly, feeling the weight of Fernandez's disappointment.
After some minutes of thinking, Fernandez finally made up his mind. His friend was right; what if Anna really came back and met him like this? She wouldn't even look at him. He picked up his phone and texted Zane, his fingers moving with a newfound sense of purpose. "Alright, text the address and let's meet."

Anna gently rubbed her protruding belly, a wave of relief washing over her. Her babies were safe and sound within her, and she couldn't help but feel a deep sense of joy and love for the tiny lives growing inside her. As she neared the end of her nine-month journey, she felt a mix of excitement and anticipation. Whenever her mind drifted off to Fernandez, painful memories flooded her thoughts, but the gentle kicks of her babies brought her back to the present, reminding her that her suffering had given her a precious gift.
However, a pang of sadness still lingered in her heart. She can't even contact Reyna. Anna couldn't shake off the feeling of loss. She had considered reaching out to Reyna, but the fear of Fernandez finding out kept her silent. A longing glance drifted across her face as she wished Reyna could be by her side during this crucial moment.
Just then, a warm hand landed on her belly, and Anna's thoughts snapped back to the present. The blue-eyed man, gazed at her with care and worry etched on his face. "Are you thinking about him again?" he asked softly. Anna forced a gentle smile, trying to ease his concerns. "No, I'm thinking of how soon my babies will come and how I'll hold them in my hands." Her voice was filled with longing and love.
The man's face lit up with a warm smile as the babies kicked in response to his touch. "Yes, I can't wait to meet them," he said, his voice filled with excitement. "But those people are really messaging me, and they said they can't wait for you to give birth." Anna nodded understandingly. "Don't worry, let my babies come first, and I'll be back fully." Her voice was reassuring, but a hint of exhaustion and anxiety lingered beneath the surface.
