Chapter 73
Chapter 73
"I need to speak with you," Fernandez said, his voice low and serious, his eyes locked intensely on Anna's. His dark hair was mussed, and his jaw was set in concentration, giving him a brooding look.
Anna's eyes widened in shock, her mind racing with thoughts of the pregnancy issue that had driven them apart. She hesitated for a moment, her hands fluttering nervously before speaking, her voice laced with caution. "About what?" she asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
Fernandez's eyes darted towards the door, ensuring it was still open, before responding in a hushed tone, "My dad is here, and I don't want him to know about anything going on right now." His voice was barely above a whisper, his words tumbling out quickly.
Anna's eyes narrowed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Mr. Antonio should not know about the pregnancy, right?" she asked, intentionally bringing up the topic again, her eyes locked on Fernandez's.
Fernandez's expression darkened, his eyes flashing with anger. "The pregnancy you went to terminate," he spat out, his voice low and venomous, his words hanging in the air like a challenge.
Anna's face twisted in frustration, her hands clenched into fists. "Fernandez, I already told you I never went for any—" she began, her voice rising in defense.
But before she could finish, Fernandez cut her off, his voice laced with a mix of anger and relief. "I knew you never went for any abortion," he said, his eyes searching hers, as if looking for confirmation.
Anna's eyes widened in surprise, her mind reeling with confusion. "If you knew, then why did you accuse me of wanting to abort the baby?" she asked, her voice rising in anger, her words tumbling out quickly.
Fernandez's expression turned cold, his eyes glacial. Without responding, he turned and walked out of the room, leaving Anna seething with frustration and unanswered questions. The door swung shut behind him, leaving Anna alone in the silent room.
Anna sighed and stormed out of the room, determined to confront Fernandez, but she was intercepted by Reyna in the hallway. Reyna's eyes sparkled with concern as she asked, "I hope everything is fine between you two?"
Anna's expression softened slightly as she replied, "Well, it's not settled, but he told me he didn't want Rosario to find out about our fight, and he said he knew I didn't abort the baby." Her voice was laced with a mix of frustration and relief.
Reyna's face lit up with a warm smile. "If that's so, then I pray everything gets settled between you two." She enveloped Anna in a gentle hug, her arms warm and comforting.
As they disengaged from the hug, Reyna asked, "By the way, I thought you were looking for someone?"
Anna nodded, her eyes scanning the hallway. "Yes, I'm looking for him."
Reyna's expression turned helpful. "He has left for the office."
Anna sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly in disappointment. Just then, Rosario and Alessandra approached them, their faces beaming with smiles.
"I heard from Fernandez that you are expecting, congratulations Anna!" Rosario exclaimed, his eyes twinkling with delight as he gazed at his daughter-in-law.
Anna's face lit up with a warm smile. "Thank you," she replied, her hand instinctively cradling her belly.
Alessandra flung her arms around Anna, her hug tight and enthusiastic. "Wow, I can't believe it! That must be why you're looking so fresh?" She laughed loudly, pinching Anna's cheek lightly, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Reyna snorted and rolled her eyes at Alessandra, her expression skeptical. She had never liked Alessandra, finding her overly dramatic and insincere. To Reyna, Alessandra seemed like a vixen, always causing trouble wherever she went.
Anna just smiled politely at Alessandra, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
