Chapter 68
Chapter 68
As Fernandez re-entered the mansion, he headed straight to their room, his mind focused on finding the missing documents. He didn't bother asking the servants about Anna's whereabouts, recalling that she had mentioned visiting her mother earlier.
Upon entering the room, he spotted the documents in the drawer beside his bed and reached for them. But just as he was about to leave, the ringing of Anna's phone caught his attention. He walked back into the room, his eyes fixed on the nightstand where the phone lay. It seemed Anna had forgotten her phone at home, which was unusual for her.
Curious, Fernandez picked up the phone, noticing that it was Reyna calling Anna. He hesitated for a moment before deciding to answer, intending to inform Reyna that Anna had forgotten her phone. But before he could speak, the call got cut off.
Fernandez's eyes widened as he saw that there were three missed calls from Reyna. His curiosity piqued, he swiped the phone, surprised to find that it opened easily without a password.
Despite knowing it was an invasion of privacy, Fernandez couldn't resist the urge to uncover what was so important that Reyna needed to discuss with Anna urgently. He opened Anna's SMS inbox and clicked on the latest message.
His eyes scanned the message, his heart racing as he read the words: "Anna, I'm sorry I've left before you woke up. What have you decided Anna? Have you decided to keep the baby or not? You know if you choose the second option, you can go to the address I've given to you and abort the baby. Tell me your decision dear."
Fernandez's mind reeled as he processed the message. Baby? Abortion? His thoughts swirled with questions and emotions.
Fernandez's eyes blazed with fury as he processed the message. His mind racing, he swung his fist at the wall, the impact sending shockwaves through his arm. He repeated the motion, his anger boiling over like a cauldron. How could Anna keep this from him? His own child, and he was the last to know.
He slumped onto the bed, his bitter chuckle echoing through the room. "That girl must have gone crazy," he muttered, his anger still simmering.
Fernandez's first instinct was to call Anna, to demand she come home immediately. But his already bruised knuckle reminded him that her phone was still in his possession. He growled in frustration, his breathing heavy.
With a newfound sense of urgency, he dialed Mrs. Anderson's number. The phone rang once before her dull voice picked up. "Hello, Mr. Antonio!"
Fernandez's patience was wearing thin. "Can you please give the phone to Anna?" he asked gruffly.
Mrs. Anderson's tone turned surprised. "Isn't she at home with you?"
Fernandez's anger flared. "No, she said she was coming to your place."
The line went silent for a moment before Mrs. Anderson replied, "No, Anna isn't here."
Fernandez's head spun with possibilities. "You mean she's not with you?" he asked, his feet tapping impatiently on the floor.
Mrs. Anderson's voice turned cautious. "Is everything okay?"
Fernandez's response was curt. "Yes!" He disconnected the call, his mind racing.
She had lied to him. If she wasn't with her mother, then where was she? The possibility sent a chill down his spine. Had she truly gone to abort the baby?
Fernandez's voice was low and menacing as he spoke to Mr. Thompson, his personal assistant. "I need every detail about Anna's whereabouts from the moment we arrived back in Italy."
Mr. Thompson's surprise was evident in his tone. "Right away, sir!"
Fernandez continued, "And cancel all my meetings today, I'm not coming back to the office. I need to take care of something."
Mr. Thompson's concern was palpable. "Is everything okay, sir?"
Fernandez's response was curt. "Just do it, Thompson."
Meanwhile, Anna arrived at the mall, looking at the list of supplements her doctor had recommended. She walked into the store, greeted by a friendly cashier.
"Welcome to Healthy Living! How can I help you today?" the cashier asked.
Anna smiled. "Hi, I'm looking for some prenatal supplements. Can you show me where they are?"
The cashier nodded. "Aisle 3, ma'am. Congratulations on your pregnancy!"
Anna thanked her and headed to the aisle, browsing through the shelves.
As she shopped, Fernandez's anger continued to simmer. He paced back and forth in their room, his mind racing with thoughts of Anna's betrayal.
Mr. Thompson's voice came through the phone again. "Sir, I've canceled all your meetings for today. "Are you really not coming to the office?"
Fernandez's response was immediate. "No! Just get me that information on Anna's whereabouts."
Mr. Thompson hesitated before responding, "Yes, sir. Right away."
Fernandez's eyes narrowed, his grip on the phone tightening. He couldn't wait to confront Anna about everything.
She must be doing this because he didn't inform her about her mother's illness.
As Anna finished shopping, she headed to the checkout counter, her arms laden with bags of supplements. The cashier smiled warmly and began scanning the items.
"Did you find everything you needed?" she asked.
Anna nodded, smiling back. "Yes, thank you. Everything is intact!"
The cashier totaled up the purchases and announced the amount. Anna reached into her bag and pulled out Fernandez's black card.
"I'll just pay with this," she said, handing over the card.
The cashier took the card and processed the payment. "Thank you, ma'am. Congratulations again on your pregnancy!"
Anna smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction. "Thank you. I'm excited to start taking care of my baby."
As the cashier handed her the receipt, Anna took it and signed, feeling a sense of pride knowing she was using Fernandez's money to care for their unborn child.
Meanwhile, Fernandez's phone buzzed with a notification from the bank, alerting him to the transaction. His eyes narrowed as he saw the amount and he didn't even bother to check the location.
Sadness spread across his face. 'So, Anna has really use my money to abort our child?' he thought to himself.
