Chapter 85

Chapter 85
Reyna came out of the doctor's office feeling dejected and sad. Tears fell down her eyes repeatedly, and her heart ached terribly for Anna and Fernandez. She couldn't believe that Anna had a miscarriage; she didn't know how to face Anna or how to console her.

As she stood outside Anna's ward, she watched as tears fell down Anna's eyes repeatedly. Reyna's heart went out to her friend; she felt Anna's pain as if it were her own. Why did bad things happen to good people? Anna had just been recently kidnapped, and now she had a miscarriage. It wasn't fair.

Reyna wiped the tears off her face and decided to act strong for Anna. She was her only friend, and as a friend, she had to stand by Anna. She took a deep breath, steeled herself, and strode into the ward.

Anna lay in the bed, her eyes red and puffy from crying. Reyna's heart broke at the sight of her friend's pain. She sat down beside Anna and held her hand. "Anna, it's okay, please stop crying. Don't be depressed," Reyna tried to console Anna, her voice shaking with emotion.

As Anna heard Reyna's voice, she looked up and sobbed more. Reyna's eyes welled up with tears as she watched her friend's pain. She wanted to take away Anna's pain, to make everything okay again.

Anna cried and held on to Reyna. "Reyna, I have lost my baby. I had so many things planned for him," Anna sobbed, her body shaking with grief. Reyna held her close, trying to comfort her.

Just then, the door to the ward slammed open, and Fernandez strode in with a pained expression. He was exuding a cold aura, and the hospital room seemed to grow colder. His eyes stared into Anna's eyes without sympathy.

"I guess you must be happy, you didn't want the baby in the first place, you had previously wanted to abort it, you must be very happy now," Fernandez said, his voice cold and detached.

Anna looked up at Fernandez, shocked and hurt by his words. How could someone be so heartless? They had just lost their baby, but he was putting the blame on her, how could he be so inhumane?

Reyna's eyes widened in shock, and she felt a surge of anger towards Fernandez. "Fernandez, what do you mean? This is unfair. Anna has just lost your baby. The least you could do now is to show her care and support her," Reyna said, trying to reason with him.

Fernandez let out a scoff and glared at Anna. "Care and support? For whom? I think I need to remind her that she's nobody to me. She is the person her father used as collateral for the loan he borrowed from me."

Anna stared into his eyes, and a self-mocking smile spread across her face. Since all this time, this was actually how Fernandez saw her. She guessed it right; he had just become nice and caring to her recently because of the baby, and now that there was no baby, she was back to being a collateral her father used.

Reyna widened her eyes in shock, and she felt a pang of sadness for Anna. "Fernandez, do you just realize what you said? How could you say this?" Reyna asked, her voice shaking with emotion.

Fernandez turned his gaze to Reyna and glared at her. "Get out of here. I don't think this is any of your business."

Hearing Fernandez's words, Reyna was hurt, but she knew it was true. It was their business, and she shouldn't interfere. She looked at Anna sympathetically and left the room, feeling a deep sadness for her friend.

As the door closed behind Reyna, Anna felt a deep sense of loneliness. She was alone in her grief, and the person who was supposed to be there for her had just torn her apart with his words. She felt a wave of sadness wash over her, and she buried her face in her hands, sobbing uncontrollably.

Fernandez stood there, watching Anna cry, his face expressionless. He didn't know how to react, how to comfort Anna. He felt a pang of guilt for his words, but he pushed it aside. He wasn't ready to face his emotions, to admit his mistakes.

"Don't try to act pitiful right now. I know you very well. I don't even want to see your face right now," Fernandez spat, his words dripping with venom. He slammed the door loudly and left the room, leaving Anna feeling shattered and alone.

Anna had just witnessed his true colors, and it hurt her deeply. She had thought she was important to him, but now he had shown her her place. She felt like she was nothing more than a mere object to him, a means to an end.

Reyna soon entered the ward, looking hesitant and unsure of how to face Anna. "Actually Anna, I'm sorry but I have to leave for Africa right now. Dad had just called me that one of our branches there is facing a problem and I have to go there," Reyna said, her voice laced with guilt.

Anna could see the guilt written all over Reyna's face, and she knew that Reyna was feeling terrible about leaving her in this state. But Anna also knew that Reyna had no choice, and she didn't want to make Reyna feel any worse than she already did.

Anna let out a fake smile, trying to reassure Reyna. "It's okay, you've been a good friend, more than a sister-in-law to me. I really appreciate it. But if you leave now, what will happen to your acting career?" Anna asked, trying to sound concerned.

Reyna looked even more guilty, and Anna could see the conflict written all over her face. "Maybe I will come back when everything is resolved, I will call you every day," Reyna replied, trying to reassure Anna.

The two hugged each other tightly, and Anna could feel Reyna's tears on her shoulder. Reyna soon left, and Anna was left alone once again.

As soon as Reyna left, Anna stared at the door guiltily, feeling a pang of regret for not telling Reyna about the remaining babies. She knew she should have told Reyna, but she just didn't know how. She felt like she was carrying a heavy burden, and she didn't know how to share it with anyone.

Anna sighed deeply, feeling the weight of her secrets bearing down on her. She knew she had to find a way to tell Reyna, but for now, she just felt lost and alone.
