Chapter 62

Chapter 62
Fernandez's eyes locked onto the screen, his heart racing as he saw Anna walking out of the hotel. "Stop right there!" he thundered, his voice echoing through the surveillance room. The security guard jumped, his hands trembling as he paused the footage.
"Replay the video again," Fernandez demanded, his eyes fixed on the screen.
The security guard nodded, his eyes wide with fear, and replayed the footage. Fernandez's gaze narrowed, his jaw clenched as he watched Anna walk out of the hotel, absentminded and alone.
His eyes snapped to the butler, his expression murderous. "Why didn't you stop her? Why didn't you come to tell me?" his voice was cold, devoid of emotion.
The butler cowered, his eyes darting wildly. "I-I was talking to her, she didn't answer me," he stuttered.
Just then, a hotel staff rushed in, his face pale. "Madam Soraya, I think we're in deep trouble. Mr. Antonio's wife, Mrs. Anna, has been in an accident."
Soraya's eyes widened, her face draining of color. Fernandez's expression turned glacial, his eyes flashing with anger.
"Where did the accident happen?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. "Let's go there immediately."
He turned to Soraya, his eyes blazing with intensity. "If anything happens to Anna, Soraya, you won't like the consequences."
Soraya nodded, her eyes wide with fear, as Fernandez stormed out of the room, his long strides devouring the distance.
"Take me to the accident site, now," he barked at the staff, his voice echoing through the hotel corridors.
The staff nodded, his face pale, and led Fernandez to the hotel entrance, where a car was waiting. Fernandez got in, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, his mind racing with worst-case scenarios.
"Drive faster," he growled, his voice low and urgent.
The driver nodded, his eyes wide with fear, and sped off into the Dubai traffic, Fernandez's anger and fear simmering in the backseat.
Rala Hospital,
Anna lay motionless on a bed, a drip connected to her hand. Dr. Rashid, the doctor who had saved her, stood beside her, his eyes fixed on her pale face. His shift had ended, but he had returned to check on her.
As he listened to her heartbeat with his stethoscope, he sighed heavily. Thankfully, she was safe.
A colleague, Dr. Maria, entered the room, looking surprised to see Dr. Rashid. "Dr. Rashid, you're here? I thought your shift ended hours ago."
Dr. Rashid nodded, his eyes still on Anna. "I had to come back. A small accident happened, and I wanted to ensure she's okay."
Dr. Maria glanced at Anna, concern etched on her face. "I hope she's fine?"
Dr. Rashid nodded. "Just stressed and in shock. She'll be okay."
Dr. Maria nodded and left, leaving Dr. Rashid alone with Anna.
Anna's eyes fluttered open, her gaze unfocused. She stared at the unfamiliar surroundings, the antiseptic smell filling her nostrils. Panic set in as she tried to move her hand, but the drip restrained her.
Dr. Rashid's calm voice soothed her. "Easy, you're safe. You're in a hospital."
Anna's eyes locked onto his, her voice shaking. "Hospital? And who are you? Why am I here?"
Dr. Rashid's expression was gentle. "I'm Dr. Rashid. I brought you here. You were walking on a busy street, lost in thought, and almost got into an accident. But you're safe now."
Memories flooded back, and Anna's eyes widened. She recalled leaving the hotel, angry and hurt, after discovering Fernandez's secret. The car, the shock, the fainting...
Dr. Rashid's words cut through her thoughts. "I don't know what you're going through, but please, for your sake and the baby's, don't put yourself in danger again."
Anna's eyes widened in shock, her hand instinctively clutching her belly as if to protect the tiny life growing within. "Baby?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Dr. Rashid's expression mirrored her surprise. "Yes, madam, you're four weeks pregnant. I can sense it in your pulse, but to confirm, please visit our gynecology department."
Anna's gasp filled the room, her hand still cradling her stomach. This was unimaginable! She was pregnant, and with Fernandez's child, no less. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks. They had never used protection, and she hadn't taken any contraceptive measures. Her missed period should have been a sign, but she had been too caught up in her emotions to notice.
Dr. Rashid's gentle voice broke through her thoughts. "Madam, is everything okay?"
Anna snapped back to reality, her eyes focusing on the doctor. "I'm fine, doctor. But please, keep my pregnancy a secret."
Dr. Rashid nodded, his expression understanding. "Of course, madam. However, we'll need some information about your relatives or someone close to you."
Anna's sigh was barely audible as she patted her stomach, still trying to process the news. "Don't worry, my husband will be here soon."
Dr. Rashid's eyes narrowed slightly, but he said nothing, merely nodding and making a note on her chart.
As he left the room, Anna's thoughts swirled around her. A baby? With Fernandez? The father of her child was a man she didn't love, a man who didn't love her back. Their relationship was a tangled web of secrets and lies. How could she bring a child into this chaos?
Fernandez burst into Rala Hospital, his long strides eating up the distance to the reception desk. "Is Anna Antonio admitted here?" he demanded, his voice firm and commanding.
The receptionist, still checking the register, looked up to see Dr. Rashid emerging from the ward. "Ah, Dr. Rashid, this gentleman is asking about Madam Anna Antonio," she said.
Dr. Rashid's eyes narrowed slightly as he approached Fernandez. "Are you Madam Anna's husband?" he asked, his tone professional.
Fernandez nodded curtly. "Yes, I'm her husband. Where is she? Is she okay?" He fired off questions, his eyes scanning the area as if searching for Anna.
Dr. Rashid's expression remained calm. "She's stable, Mr. Antonio. But I must inform you that she's been through a traumatic experience. I think it's best if you speak with her directly."
Fernandez's jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with concern. "Take me to her, now."
Dr. Rashid nodded and led Fernandez to Anna's ward, his eyes fixed on the man beside him. He couldn't help but wonder about the dynamics of their relationship, especially after Anna's request to keep her pregnancy a secret.
