Chapter 77

Chapter 77
As Reyna left the mansion, Anna decided to visit Alessandra, Fernandez's cousin, to spend some quality time together. She walked towards Alessandra's room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway. But instead of finding Alessandra in her room, she met her coming out of Fernandez's study, the door creaking shut behind her.
Anna's eyes widened in surprise, her eyebrows shooting up like two perfectly shaped arches. "Alessandra, what are you doing here?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
Alessandra looked equally surprised, her eyes darting around the hallway before settling on Anna. Her smile faltered, and she took a step back, her hand instinctively rising to her throat. "Oh, Anna, I was just... uh... cleaning Fernandez's study room," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Anna raised an eyebrow, her gaze narrowing like a hawk zeroing in on its prey. "Fernandez doesn't like anyone entering his study without his permission. You know that, right?" she asked, her tone firm but gentle.
Alessandra's smile faltered further, and she nodded awkwardly, her neck bobbing up and down. "Ah, I'm sorry, Anna. I didn't know that. But I saw this file on his desk, and I thought it might be important, so I picked it up to give it to him."
Anna's eyes drifted to the file in Alessandra's hand, her mind racing with possibilities like a runaway horse. The file was thick and black, with a silver lock emblazoned on the cover. It looked important, like something that held secrets and stories within its pages.
"Alessandra, you don't need to do that," Anna said, her voice soft but firm. "The servants take care of everything, and the file might be sensitive. I'll take it to him."
Alessandra's expression turned firm, her jaw setting like concrete. "No, Anna, you're pregnant. I don't want you to stress yourself. I'll take care of it." Her voice was laced with concern.
Anna's instincts kicked in, her protective nature surfacing. "No, Alessandra, you don't need to worry about me. And Fernandez might get angry if he sees you with his file. He's very particular about his study." Her eyes locked onto Alessandra's, her gaze intense.
Alessandra sighed, her shoulders sagging in defeat like a balloon losing air. "Okay, fine. But be careful, Anna." She handed the file to Anna, their fingers touching briefly.
The mask man, dressed in a black hoodie and jeans, had been listening to Anna and Alessandra's conversation from the shadows. He was lean and tall, with piercing eyes that seemed to bore into the souls of those around him. As soon as they finished talking, he sprang into action, dashing towards the parking garage with a swift and silent gait.
The driver, oblivious to the danger lurking behind him, stood leaning against the car, scrolling through his phone. The mask man approached him with lightning speed, covering his mouth and nose from behind with a gloved hand. The driver's eyes widened in shock as he tried to struggle, but the mask man's grip was like a vice.
The driver's breath came in heavy gasps, his chest heaving as he tried to shake the mask man off. But it was no use. The mask man snickered, a cold, mirthless sound, and delivered a swift blow to the driver's head. The driver's shoulders slumped, and he crumpled to the ground, unconscious.
The mask man dragged the driver to a secluded corner of the parking lot, his movements swift and efficient. He stripped the driver of his uniform, leaving him in only his underwear. The mask man then quickly changed into the driver's uniform, his movements economical and precise.
He adjusted the uniform, making sure it fit perfectly. Then, he pulled out a face mask and face cap from his pocket and put them on, completing his disguise. The transformation was stunning - he now looked exactly like the driver. He smiled to himself, a cold, calculating smile, as he contemplated his next move.
Anna stepped out of the mansion, her hand clutching the file tightly. She made her way to the parking garage, her heels clicking on the pavement. But as she approached the car, she realized the driver was nowhere to be found.
"Driver!" she shouted, looking around frantically. The only response was the echo of her own voice off the walls.
Just as she was about to give up, a deep voice replied, "Yes, madam!" Anna turned to see the driver standing before her, dressed in the usual uniform but with a peculiar addition - a face mask and face cap.
Anna breathed a sigh of relief, glad she wouldn't have to drive herself. Fernandez would have been furious if she had. "Where were you? I've looked all around for you," she muttered, eyeing the driver's unusual attire.
The driver, or so he claimed, apologized profusely. "I'm so sorry, madam. I went to the restroom."
Anna's curiosity got the better of her. "But why are you wearing a mask?" she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.
The driver, whose eyes seemed to gleam with amusement behind the mask, let out a cough. "I'm sorry, I have a cough, and I don't want to infect anyone. That's why I'm wearing the mask."
Anna nodded sympathetically. "Get it treated then, and take care."
As she turned to enter the car, the driver's smirk grew wider, hidden behind the mask. He quickly followed her, opening the door with a flourish. Anna slid into the passenger seat, and the driver closed the door behind her.
As he settled into the driver's seat, Anna gave him instructions. "Drive to Antonio's Company."
But there was no response. The driver simply stared ahead, his eyes fixed on the road. Anna felt a shiver run down her spine. Something was off.
