Chapter 89

Chapter 89

She's been heeding the gynecologist's advice and taking good care of herself. Reina did as promised; she's been calling and asking about Anna's well-being and Anna's relationship with Fernandez, but Anna didn't want to worry Reina, so she often told Reina that everything was good between her and Fernandez. Fernandez's behavior didn't change one bit, and he didn't even apologize for misbehaving with her. She had stayed on her own, and she was happy that he didn't cross the line with her again. Whenever she cooked, she would keep his portion, but he didn't ever touch it. He totally avoided her like a plague, and he often went left while she went right.

Anna was seated in the living room watching a movie; it was as if she was watching her own story. The female in the movie was sold by her aunt to a mobster, which was very similar to hers, but unlike the movie, she was sold by her own father. Anna thought back; if her father hadn't been a gambler, her life wouldn't have been like this, she wouldn't have met Fernandez. But as far as she was concerned, what she didn't regret were her babies in her belly. She had her hand on it, patting it gently. Her bump was becoming visible, and maybe if Fernandez changed toward her, she would eventually tell him that they were expecting.

She heard the honking of the car and let out a deep breath. 'He must have arrived,' she thought. If it was before, she would have left, but now she was aware that he didn't even want to see her face, and when he entered, he would just go straight to the guest room where he had been sleeping. She maintained her composure and removed her hand from her belly and focused on the movie she was watching.

The door unlocked, and Fernandez strolled into the living room, maintaining his aloof aura. The atmosphere became tense; he looked up and saw her seated, watching a movie. If it was some other day, he would have left her alone, but he didn't know what came over him, maybe it was because she was smiling while watching TV or because of a contract he had lost. Ever since she had killed his baby, he thought that she didn't deserve to live; all women were the same, just like his mother, who left his father in a time of need. Anna was also a selfish gold digger.

She was starting to get nervous as she felt his eyes on her. She was feeling hungry; she was getting very hungry now as she was eating for two. She used that as an excuse to stand up, and she went toward the fridge to get the sliced banana. She used to hate bananas and felt disgusted by them, but now she was always craving them. She heard his footsteps; it seemed he was leaving the living room. Anna breathed a sigh of relief and went back to her seat before the television. She felt fulfilled as she had a bite of the banana; how could banana be this sweet?

Fernandez slammed the door shut loudly; he hated the smile on her face just now. He felt that she didn't deserve to be happy. She was a murderer, a killer. He paced furiously; he had to break her and let her know that she couldn't go scot-free and be happy after killing his baby. His father was a fool who didn't get revenge on his father, but he wasn't a coward like his father. He went out of the room to the living room, and there she was, happily eating banana with a satisfied expression, as if she was having the best food on earth.

Rage blinded him, and he went toward her. Anna looked up at him with an uneasy gaze. He towered over her and held her wrist and twisted it roughly. Anna let out a gasp; the pain was very visible on her face. Fernandez felt satisfied seeing her like this. "You don't deserve to be happy; you're supposed to be mourning for the rest of your life after what you did to my child." Tears started to fall from her eyes repeatedly; he was really hurting her. "I'm sorry; please let me go, Fernandez!"

The way she called him intensified his anger. Her hand had turned red, and a bruise had started to form. "It's no more Fernandez for you. It's Mr. Antonio, your father sold you to me, and you are the killer of my baby; that's the relationship we share." His senses came back after looking at her hand; he let go of her hand and left there without looking back.

Anna's butt made contact with the chair; her wrist was aching where it was bruised. Tears flowed down freely from her eyes; she couldn't take it anymore. This suffering was too much. She stood up and left for her room to get the first aid.
