Chapter 35

Chapter 35
Anna entered their opulent bedroom, the soft glow of the lamps casting a warm ambiance. She walked over to the bed and pulled out a divider, separating her side from Fernandez's. It was a symbolic gesture, a physical representation of the emotional distance between them.
As she changed into a comfortable nightgown, Anna's mind wandered back to the dinner conversation. She couldn't shake off the feeling of being owned, of being a possession. The thought sent a shiver down her spine.
Just as she was about to climb into bed, a soft knock on the door broke the silence. "What is it?" Anna called out, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Master has asked me to bring you your dinner, ma'am," the maid replied, her voice gentle.
Anna chuckled to herself, a wry smile spreading across her face. As if he cares, she thought. She replied to the maid, "I'm not hungry. You can leave."
The maid hesitated for a moment before nodding and closing the door. Anna climbed into bed, her thoughts still racing. She didn't know when sleep took over, but soon she was lost in a sea of dreams, her mind trying to process the events of the day.
As she drifted off, the divider between their beds seemed to grow taller, a physical representation of the emotional chasm between Anna and Fernandez. The room was silent, the only sound the soft hum of the air conditioning, a reminder of the luxury and isolation that surrounded Anna.
The next morning, Anna woke up feeling refreshed. She rubbed the sleepiness away from her eyes and yawned silently, stretching her arms above her head. She checked her side of the bed and was relieved to see that the divider was still intact, and his side was empty. She was happy to avoid his presence, at least for a little while longer.
After a quick trip to the bathroom, Anna changed into a comfy pair of white linen pants and a pastel pink blouse, her hair tied up in a loose bun. She slipped on a pair of fluffy slippers and made her way downstairs, her stomach growling with hunger.
As she entered the dining room, the servants halted in their steps and greeted her in unison. "Good morning, ma'am." Anna responded with a warm smile, "Good morning, everyone."
She approached the chef, a jovial man with a bushy mustache, and asked, "What's for breakfast today?"
"Good morning, ma'am," he replied, "We have scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, toasted bagels, and fresh fruit salad."
The dishes were served, and Anna took a seat, still looking around for him. But he was nowhere to be found. She asked the head chef, "Where's...he?"
The head chef hesitated before responding, "He has gone out, ma'am."
Anna's eyes narrowed slightly, but she said nothing. She began her breakfast, savoring the creamy scrambled eggs, smoky salmon, and crispy bagels. The food was delicious, but her mind kept wandering back to his absence. Where had he gone? And why?
Anna finished her breakfast, but he was still nowhere to be found. She decided to check the entire house, hoping to avoid him, but also curious about his whereabouts. She searched every room, but there was no sign of him.
Finally, she pulled out her phone and dialed Mr. Thompson's number, Fernandez's Personal Assistant. He answered on the first ring.
"Good morning, ma'am," Mr. Thompson said, his voice crisp and professional.
"Good morning, Mr. Thompson," Anna replied. "I was wondering if you knew where...he went to."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Mr. Thompson responded, "Didn't the boss tell you, ma'am? We're on a business trip to Tokyo."
Anna's eyes widened in surprise. Tokyo? She hadn't expected that.
"When did he leave?" she asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Early this morning, ma'am. He took a private jet."
Anna nodded to herself, even though Mr. Thompson couldn't see her. She was relieved that she wouldn't have to see his face for the whole day, maybe even longer.
"Thank you, Mr. Thompson," she said, ending the call.
Anna couldn't help but feel a sense of freedom, knowing that she had the house to herself. She decided to make the most of it and spend the day relaxing and rejuvenating.
After the call ended, Anna let out a loud whoop and jumped onto the bed, bouncing up and down like a child on a trampoline. "He's gone! He's finally gone!" she shouted loudly to no one in particular, her voice echoing off the walls.
She cheerfully laughed and spun around, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. She felt like she was walking on air, her feet barely touching the ground.
In a moment of mischief, Anna grabbed a marker from the bedside table and wrote in bold letters on Fernandez's pillow: "May you never come back!"
She stepped back to admire her handiwork, giggling to herself. It was a small act of rebellion, but it made her feel empowered.
As she flopped onto the bed, Anna felt a sense of freedom wash over her. She was alone, and she was loving every minute of it. She snuggled under the covers, feeling like she was in her own little world, free from Fernandez's suffocating presence.
"Ah, blissful silence," she sighed, closing her eyes and letting out a contented sigh. She would have everything to herself before Fernandez's return.
