Chapter 137
He feared that Sebastian wouldn't understand his point of view, and that was what was happening; Sebastian was failing to actually reason with him, but it was also understandable; he was hurt.
"Then why did you come?" Sebastian suddenly asked.
Zeno was quiet, not knowing what Sebastian was talking about.
"Why did you come to me that night? Why did you let me open myself to you? Why did you make me believe you were all in if you had in mind that we wouldn't be the end game? Why did you come to me after agreeing to such an arrangement with my father, Zeno? Why?" Sebastian stared blankly into the lake.
"Am I a joke to you? Just for fun? Do you just want to see how it would be to break my heart? Perhaps this is your way of getting back at me for what I did to you in the past, then maybe I deserve it," He slowly shrugged.
Zeno stood and walked over to Sebastian, hugging him from behind. "Everything you said is wrong, Sebastian. I came to you because I love you; because I want us to be the end game, and because I can't see myself with anyone else but you. Again, I was wrong, but I really didn't have any choice; please don't be like this; I don't want this between us; I can't live without you, Sebastian, you know it," his arms hugged Sebastian's center tightly.
Sebastian drew in a sharp breath. He wanted to believe Zeno, but he wasn't so sure anymore. He'd been betrayed before; how could he be sure that this wasn't Zeno manipulating him to remain close to him, and, in the end, they would set him up just like they did with Georgia?
He couldn't let himself be fooled twice, he sighed and gently removed Zeno's hand from around him; he turned and looked at Zeno's worried face, his heart hurting as he realized that he was irrevocably in love with him. But as they say, 'Love is blind,' and maybe he'd been blinded by love.
He sidestepped Zeno and took two steps away from him before pausing, "You should have thought about everything you said before agreeing to do it, Zeno. I'm hurt; you hurt me; even after getting in a relationship with me, you still went on with the damn plan, tell me how I'm not supposed to be hurt," Sebastian scoffed.
Zeno went and blocked Sebastian's part, "I said I'm sorry, Sebastian. I was wrong, okay? I'm sorry, just stop being this way, please," He went to hold Sebastian but he moved away.
"Stay the fuck away, Zeno, all it would cost you was to say a fucking no!" Sebastian glared at Zeno, his hurt was starting to get the better of him.
"I'm fucking sorry! It's not like you can stand your ground with your father either!" He pointed out.
Zeno's had it; he'd tried to really make Sebastian understand, but Sebastian wasn't listening. He wasn't even letting him tell him what was at stake if he didn't go on with his father's plan.
Sebastian narrowed his eyes at him, "What did you say?" He asked Zeno in a menacing tone, his face hardening.
Zeno didn't speak again, he knew he had gone too far, "Babe, I'm sorry, I-"
"Quit it, Zeno," Sebastian muttered and walked away from Zeno, heading back to the car.
"Fuck it," Zeno muttered.
His fears were slowly creeping up on him, he was on his way to losing the man he loved so much.
The car is parked in front of Ezra's house, silence dominating the inside of it as Sebastian refuses to loom at Zeno.
Zeno had tried to speak to him when he entered the car, but Sebastian wouldn't listen to him.
Zeno realized that Sebastian didn't want him at that moment, so he decided to stay away. Maybe they've been by each other's side for so long and have forgotten how to let the other breathe. Sebastian needed his space, and he would respect that.
He had asked Sebastian to drop him off at Ezra's home; he couldn't bear the silent treatment that he knew Sebastian was going to give him at home, so he'd just give him that space. They would talk when Sebastian had released some steam.
Zeno looked out and saw the building beside their car; he knew it was Ezra's; if not, Sebastian wouldn't have parked in front of it.
Zeno turned and looked at Sebastian, and he still had his face looking straight as if there was no one in the car with him.
"Goodnight..." Zeno wished him but still got no response.
He sighed, opened the door, and left the car.
Sebastian shit his eyes the moment Zeno left his car; his fingers were gripping the steering wheel so tightly that they turned pale.
He gritted his teeth and marched the pedal, speeding away from the front of Ezra's house.
Zeno sighed when he heard the car drive away behind him. His heart wrenched, he felt abandoned, and his world was crumbling on him; he could not still process the fact that for the first time since they started dating, Sebastian was really angry at him and truly abandoned him in the house of another man.
He walked close to Ezra's door and knocked, hoping he was home and not in the hospital.
Inside the house, Ezra was lying on the sofa when he heard a knock on his door; he was almost half-asleep, and the first thing that came to his mind when he heard it was the barcode sign.
Have they managed to trace Nicholas here? He didn't have visitors because he was always at work, it was weird for him to have them, especially by that time of the night.
He picked up his eyeglasses from the table and fixed them on his face.
He looked at the clock and frowned; it was a few minutes past nine; who would want to visit him by that time?
He was about to ignore whoever it was and go into his study when a call came through on his phone.
He looked and saw that it was Zeno, he picked it up immediately, maybe they knew something about the people knocking on his door.
"Hello, Zeno, everything alright?" Ezra asked quietly.
"I'm knocking on your door..." Zeno informed.
Ezra paused, he frowned, unsure if he heard correctly. "What did you say, Zsno?" He asked slowly.
"I'm in front of your house, Doc," Zeno said more firmly this time.
Ezra couldn't believe it, "Um, hang on, I'm coming right away," He replied and ended the call.
As he walked toward his door, he was still in doubt, but when he opened it and saw Zeno looking down at the floor, he knew he couldn't be seeing things.
"Zeno?" He called cautiously.
Zeno looked up and bit his lips. He was suddenly feeling like hugging Ezra and letting his pent-up emotions go, but he didn't; that would be awkward between them.
"Can I come in?" Zeno asked in a low voice.
Ezra blinked, "Yes, yes, of course, please," He pushed his glasses in place and stepped aside to let Zeno in.
Zeno walked into the house, his eyes immediately spotting the sofa. He instantly knew that that was where he'd be sleeping that night. Even if Ezra offered him a bed, he would refuse; a couch was just the best thing he needed at that moment; his mood matched the couch perfectly.
Ezra shut the door and went over to Zeno, who was already sitting on the sofa.
"Everything alright, Zeno?" Ezra asked, squatting in front of Zeno.
Zeno shook his head, "Can I just sleep here tonight? I don't want to talk about it..." He replied.
Ezra sighed; he read Zeno's face and realized that he looked on the brink of crying. He moved close and gently hugged Zeno, "It's okay, Zeno. It's going to be alright, whatever you have going on with Sebastian will be alright. Or I have a better idea for you," Ezra smirked at him.
Zeno looked up at him, "What?" He asked quietly.
"You can leave him, you have other options, like me...or Nicholas. But I'm advocating for myself. I'll never make you sad, want to try?" Ezra teased.
