Chapter 273
"No, no, I've got it... Thanks," Pole snatched the bottle from Leon and sighed.
"You're not the employee, I am... just sit down and let me do my job," he said, huffing quietly.
Leon nodded, "Okay, just know... I'll be leaving the resort in an hour. I'm going back home, to my business and all." He spoke quietly, watching Pole's face.
Pole paused, glancing up at Leon's face. For over three months, Leon has been a constant company, annoying and caring at the same time. Now, it was time for him to leave.
But why was he feeling depressed by that news? It shouldn't bother him. He should simply nod his head and wish Leon goodbye, not freeze and stare at Leon's face like he had a million things to say.
"Have a safe trip back home... then," Pole nodded and walked away to serve the customers without looking back at Leon.
When he returned to the bar, Leon was nowhere to be found, "He really left." He murmured, glancing around the bar but couldn't find the familiar silhouette he was searching for.
The bar was filled with people, yet for the first time in three months, Pole felt alone.
"He's really gone-"
"Who's gone?" Andre placed a hand on Pole's shoulder.
Pole straightened up, "No one." He replied, facing Andre and Cross.
"He's lying, I saw Leon driving away from the resort as we stepped out of the building," Cross said, narrowing his eyes at Pole.
"He really left?" Pole asked, frowning.
"So it's really Leon?" Andre smirked.
Pole sighed, "Well, I thought he would wait till I clocked-"
"Why would he wait? It's not like he's your... I'm sorry he left," Cross switched immediately as he felt Andre's stare on him.
"Never mind. I'll get you guys something to drink," He said.
"No, we're not drinking, we just want to sit around for a while. Maybe we could keep you company since your shadow has left you." Andre gestured for Cross to go sit at the table beside them.
"Come with me?" Cross spoke softly, taking Andre's hand.
Andre glanced at Pole, "We'll be right here." He told Pole.
Pole nodded, "Sure." He said and turned away from them.
He didn't need to watch a reconciling couple while he was facing a mini heartbreak. He couldn't understand why he felt heartbroken, but he recognised it when he felt it.
He wasn't going to be delusional like the rest of the guys, who ignored what they felt until they almost lost. But, isn't it what he'd done?
He had ignored Leon's efforts until he finally gave up and left. He became so accustomed to having Leon around that he forgot to obtain his contact information or address. There was no way to reach out to him, and none of the guys would have Leon's contact; the hotel would never give out information about a customer, either.
He paused and leaned against the counter, drumming his fingers on top of it.
He recalled the story Thomas had told him. He had asked why everyone seemed not to like Leon and Thomas told him that Leon had once kidnapped Zeno and drugged him. Leon had later confessed that he never intended to hurt Zeno; he just wanted to see if Sebastian still cared.
"My point is, instead of calling the boss to ask for Leon's address and contact, I'd rather ask Ida, he knows the address," he nodded to himself and went back to work, he'd ask Ida tonight.
Meanwhile, at the table, Cross was openly staring at Andre without blinking.
Andre sighed, "What?" He questioned.
Cross smiled shyly, "I saw you in Japan." He murmured.
"What?" Andre asked with hurried brows, not understanding what Cross had said or meant to say.
Cross placed his hands on the table and leaned closer, the evening breeze blowing his hair away from his face and revealing the beauty of his eyes.
"I saw you for the first time in Japan, two years ago when my cousin came to represent his father for some airline opening or something. It's where he met Sakura for the first time. Remember?" He asked quietly, biting his lip as he watched the realisation morph in Andre's face.
Andre slightly widened his eyes, "I remember our Japan trip... You were there? I never saw you, I'd never miss you." He roamed his eyes over Cross's face.
Cross blushed, "You'd never miss me? Why?" He smirked.
Andre frowned, "I didn't say that. Just answer my questions. What were you doing there? With a boyfriend?" He asked the last part with a little more aggression.
Cross scrunched his nose, "Come on... You felt how tight I was. Having doubts about being my first?" He cocked a brow at Andre, "I'm offended." He murmured.
Andre glanced around them, "You're purposely being loud. And, no, I have no doubts... I was just asking." He answered, tapping his foot impatiently.
"Just tell me what you were doing in Japan two years ago," Andre was eager.
He couldn't believe Cross had seen him two years ago and never spoke to him. Did he not feel anything for him then?
Cross left his chair across from Andre and went to sit right next to him, "Chill, babe. You're acting like I did something wrong already. I meant it when I said I've never had a boyfriend..." he paused and lifted his hand from his lap to place on Andre's but he paused and lowered it back to his lap.
Andre saw Cross's withdrawal and almost reached for his hand out of instinct... almost.
"Then, tell me, Cross. Why didn't you come to me? I wasn't good enough for you? Not rich enough?" Andre lowered his voice and stared at Cross.
Cross rolled his eyes, "Fuck money, baby. Fuck looks, I mean, your looks are fire but I'm just saying it's not the reason why I didn't approach you." Cross explained.
Andre was quiet, listening.
"I... you see, I might be like this, but I realised that love makes me shy. The moment I saw you... You sweet me off my feet, and I mean literally. You can ask Sebastian for confirmation."
Andre's brows furrowed together; he was trying to think about the time he saw Sebastian standing with Cross, but he couldn't come up with anything.
"Cross, don't mess with my mind. You're trying to make me think you've loved me for two years so I'd take you back out of pity?" He accused, leaning close to Cross's face.
Cross frowned, "The last thing I'd do is mess with you, baby." He placed his hand on Andre's lap, unable to keep his hands to himself anymore.
He moved, placing his chin on Andre's shoulder, "I love your scent." He whispered.
Andre fought a smile, "Cross, can you just tell me, Baby boy? I don't remember seeing any silver-eyed, hotheaded, pretty boy throughout my Japan trip." His voice dropped to a low timbre, his nose bridge nuzzling Cross's hair.
Cross's heart raced, his body feeling a slow, warm flush course through his veins.
His Andre was gradually returning to him, all because of one simple conversation that wasn't centered on begging Andre to take him back.
He took note of that: keep a healthy atmosphere, tease here and there, and don't force it. Just let the emotions choose their paths.
He tilted his head and stared up at Andre's warm eyes, "Baby boy? Pretty boy? I can't pick my favourite one..." his eyes dropped to Andre's lips, "You think I'm pretty?" He whispered in his softest voice, a seduction call.
Andre stared, watching Cross's silver eyes searching his own eyes. His hand gently found Cross's waist, tightening possessively.
"You're pretty, baby boy. And you know it... It's one of the reasons I'm not letting go...yet," he smirked.
Cross frowned with a pout, "Yet? Does it -"
"Can you just complete your fucking story?" Thomas's irritated voice barked from behind Andre and Cross's table.
"Bro... like..." Jeremiah scoffed.
"If breakups were to be like theirs, heartbreaks would be a thing of the past," Cody muttered, sipping his juice.
Andre and Cross were shocked.
They didn't realise that they had an audience.
"What the fuck are you guys doing here," Andre turned behind him to look at his inquisitive friends.
Cody sighed, "I must confess... I'm envious of how you two handle your shit. Please carry on, Cross, we're all interested in your love journey."
"We were coming to join you guys for the evening, but then we heard the interesting love story and the fuck back. However, we signed up to watch you two drip if sexual tension and romantic obsession," Thomas said, rolling his eyes.
Cross gently tugged Andre's shirt and whispered, "Did you hear them? I knew we still had our spark. You and I can never get grey, we're forever in love, Daddy."
Andre cleared his throat, "You guys enjoy the evening... We'll be taking a walk." He said and stood, pulling Cross with him.
"See that?" Cody pointed at them, "That's something I can never experience any longer... I'm fucking envious of them." He murmured and sipped his juice.
"Yo, twin," Thomas called.
"What's up?" Jeremiah asked, leaning his head close to Thomas.
"Does strawberry juice get someone high?" Thomas whispered.
Jeremiah scratched his chin, "We might just be the first people to witness that-oh... look," he held Thomas's chin and turned his face to the side.
“Oh no. Cody—Ida’s coming this way. In case you want to run and hide… again,” Thomas whispered.
Cody froze. His spine went rigid as he turned his head, only to whip it back forward when he spotted Ida two tables away.
It was too late to hide now. Doing so would only make it worse.
Play it cool, play it cool, play it fucking cool, he chanted in his head as Ida’s footsteps stopped right behind his chair.
“Cody,” Ida’s voice was calm, firm—too calm. “I need to speak with you.”
He swallowed hard, trying not to turn around.
But God, he wanted to.
