Chapter 256
Andre sat alone on the sand with his back leaning against the coconut tree he was sitting under.
He was sober that morning because he had decided to stop drowning himself in alcohol. He wanted to get Cross back to his side, and he could do that if his thinking was clogged with alcohol.
He needed a clear and stable mind to focus on how he was going to find Cross.
He could call Zeno, ask him to find out where Cross went, but he was sceptical of what Sebastian would say or do when he learned what had happened.
He slid his dingles under the smooth sand, closing his eyes as the sea breeze blew his hair around.
He missed Cross, so much.
Andre had left home for quite a long time, his only purpose was to find a stable life, and Sebastian offered him that.
A stable job (which he loves, by the way), a stable income. Still, Andre had always felt like he lacked something.
When Cross came along, he finally realised that Cross was exactly what he lacked.
Cross had turned his world upside down; his brattiness, his playfulness, his vulnerability... his love. All those made Andre realise that he had barely been getting by each day. He fully started living life when Cross came into his life.
But, now, Cross was gone, leaving him worse than he was before he came along.
Andre sighed, opening his eyes to stare at the clear sky.
The weather has been friendly for the past week, and Andre wished for it to remain so. He could imagine how Cross would cope if a storm happened in the future.
"I hope you're okay, Cross," Andre murmured.
He was about to lower himself on the sand when his phone rang in his pocket.
In a flash, he immediately took his phone out, hoping it was Cross.
It wasn't.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw Sebastian's name on the screen.
"Shit," he muttered, his thumb hovering over the answer button.
He knew exactly why Sebastian was calling, he hadn't even had the opportunity to tell his boss that he was seeing his cousin, and now, they were about to talk about how he cheated on the said cousin.
With a clenched jaw, he answered the phone.
"Boss -"
"Andre, remind me again why I left Cross with you," Sebastian's cold voice asked through the phone.
Andre gulped, his hand bunching the sand beneath him. How was he supposed to answer the question?
"You asked me to take care of him, Boss. To make him feel accepted," he murmured.
"Is that what you're doing, Andre?" Sebastian asked.
Andre sighed, "No, Boss."
"I'm not going to ask you to explain yourself to me, Andre. I trust you to be sensible enough; if my cousin is still sad by tomorrow evening, you and I are going to have a little problem, are we clear?" Sebastian's intimidating voice spoke calmly through the phone.
Andre nodded and immediately realised that Sebastian couldn't see him, "Yes, boss. I understand." He replied firmly.
"Good," Sebastian said.
"But, boss, I..." he sighed as the call abruptly ended.
"But I don't know where to find him..." he muttered and fell onto the sand, staring blankly at the palm trees as they waved in the wind.
He was definitely going to have a problem with his boss tomorrow evening because he doesn't have the slightest idea where Cross had left to.
His phone beeped and he slowly raised it above his face to check what it was.
He immediately sprang up, dusting the sands off his clothes, his heart soaring with hope for the first time in the past week.
Sebastian had sent him an address, it was far, but distance meant nothing if he'd see Cross in the end.
He quickly walked towards the beach bar, he had to tell Cody about the update.
He reached the table Cody was sitting at and slowed down, Leon was already there. He didn't want to face him at the moment, his mood wasn't one to tolerate annoying flirts.
"Hey, Cody, can I have a word?" He asked behind Cody's chair.
"Sure," Cody said and stood, "I'll bring right back," He said to Leon and walked away with Andre.
Andre stared at Cody in suspicion, "You're friends with him now?" He asked.
Cody shrugged, "He's not a bad guy. Just lonely like the rest of us. What Dud you want to say?" He stood beside an empty table and stared up at Andre.
Andre was once again excited. He gave his phone to Cody and waited for him to realise what it meant.
Cody knitted his brows together in confusion, "Um... the boss sent you an Address. Does he have a business there? It's an affluent neighbourhood, the person must be some rich guy, huh?" He asked, smiling at Andre.
Andre snatched his phone from Cody, sighing in frustration, "It's Cross, Cody. You don't have to be so dumb." He muttered.
Cody's eyes widened, "Ohh... It's Cross-wait, does he know about you two? He's helping you get back together?" He questioned curiously.
"Well, he now knows about us, and... I don't know if he's helping us get back together, or if he's just threatening me to get his cousin to be happy," Andre sighed.
"I think he just wants me to fix what I've broken, he doesn't care if we get back together or not," Andre pushed his hands in his pockets.
Cody shook his head, "Come on, you know the boss isn't that heartless. He sure wants you guys back together, he knows his cousin loves you, and you love him. Go get your man." He tapped Andre's back.
Andre slowly nodded, "Okay, then, I'll see you later, tonight?" His words were more like a question.
He wasn't sure if Cross would take him back yet, so, he wasn't certain that he'd get to sleep over at Cross's.
"Nah, don't wanna see you here tonight. Ruffle those damn sheets with your man... get going already," Cody pushed Andre forward.
Andre chuckled, hoping Cody was right.
He suddenly stopped when his phone started to ring again.
"Who is it? Boss again?" Cody asked, staring at Andre's phone.
Andre brought his phone up and immediately ended the call, "It's Tony, I'll handle him later. I have to get to Cross now." He said with a frown.
Cody grabbed Andre's hand, "Now don't act all shady with me. Why did you end the call? You said you've not been able to reach Tony the whole week, and haven't seen him either. But, he's calling you now, why didn't you answer it and question him about what happened that day?" He stood in front of Andre, arms folded and eyes narrowed.
